I will say being a 1990s kid all the stuff in the store was so cool. A lot of the toys shows and cards I used to collect and play with when I was little was all over the store and also it was really cool to see a whole section for people who actually played the trading card games to be able to battle and what not with each other. It was also really cool that they had a bunch of cards display that you could buy and also a lot of bolt cards in case you were trying to complete a collection which I may look into if my toddlers interest continues.

The card playing tables were full, happy, and loud, while I stuck to the front of the store to look around and stay out of the way. Well, not entirely as David slipped me a token for one of the Japanese Gashapon machines. Our came a fun pokeball gacha, of which he hustled me our before I could ask for another token. KT is very welcoming and if you spend enough time at the shop you can tell that he genuinely cares about all his customers. T2 is primarily a Pokemon shop and specializes in Pokemon singles but he does stock MTG, yugioh, Union Arena and even Dragonball. I drive from Beaverton just to come shop here. That said, these guys always had everything I needed--controls, new track, extensions--and always had product I could inspect. No shipping/return ping-pong with online sellers. But what I've grown to love best about them is their outright disdain for the lowest form of "hobbyist": The drone bro. Call it a "multicopter" all you'd like, pal, but your cheap piece of plastic trash is, at best, flying camera gear and, at worst, a suburban air rights debate just waiting to be solved in the most hostile way possible. I'm pleased that Hillsboro Hobby has never catered to these plugs, and I wish them continued success in selling the exact type of anti-air countermeasures that make these guys think twice about flying them over residential areas.

The folks here are very considerate and helpful, and open to helping me bring some of my crazy ideas to life. I'm so happy specialty stores like this still exist, and I hope as a community we can continue supporting them. There is no replacement for the years of expertise these shopkeepers bring to the retail experience. There is a large parking lot in front of the store, which is convenient because the neighborhood tends to be pretty busy. And the parking enforcement can be quite unforgiving in the area.

Oh, I don't go inside, I wait in the car scrolling my socials and taking selfies and then ooh and ah over his purchases while he explains refractors and grading and colors and bits of bats or jerseys. I'm sure he says other stuff...The Sportsroom has had a few different owners and the latest has been there for over a year. After taking a long break between owners, we're back to visiting about every week. It is nice to see someone who seems to enjoy what they're doing who genuinely wants to make visits to the Sportsroom a positive experience.

One of the older employees wrote numbers on sticky notes and placed them on my cards. He offered me $600 for a stack worth around $1,000, so I politely declined. Immediately after, he aggressively ripped the sticky notes off my cards, walked away, and completely ignored me. He didn't say another word or even look at me. On my way out, I still said "thanks," but got no response. It's sad to see people like this representing the hobby. If you're looking to trade cards or buy boxes, I'd recommend going somewhere else. Hoody's, 1 Stop, and Orb all have much better customer service than this place. This business does not deserve your cards or your money.

They also have plenty of MTG and other minis games as well. Owners are friendly and always willing to answer questions. Shop is clean and friendly. Customers are pretty friendly as well. This is the type of place I would have spent several hours hanging out at as a kid. They run quite a few evening/weekend events as well so check in to see if anything fits your fancy. I wish more people knew about this place because this is a well run FLGS (friendly local game store).

They have a great list system for releases and are diligent about following up and they don't mark up the pricing. They host game nights, etc., and the store offers an array of board games, card games, and lots of puzzles. Our 5 year old had a blast sorting through some of their lil jars of figures and cards to take home. Took home a new domino set on our most recent visit as that is our daughter's current obsession!
