What's even crazier, is that during said events, you're never pressured to buy anything. How do they make a profit? I'm not sure either. But it seems like their business model is more along the lines of providing a space that makes people feel happy and welcome and then worrying about that finance stuff later. Seriously though, the place is super welcoming and patient with nerds of all types. Whether you're dipping your toes into nerd culture or want to dive in face first, they've had an answer and anecdote for nearly every geeky genre that has ever pique a nerd's interest. Highly recommend the D&D games though. They're super fun and very patient with beginner players and even welcome new walk-ins during the middle of campaigns.

This kind of dismissive behavior isn't uncommon in comic book shops. Having been a regular reader for years, I can confidently say there's a certain hipster element embedded in comic culture that lacks the self-awareness that the "better-than-you" attitude is a dime a dozen. I place my weekly pulls with Casablanca Comics, where the staff are not only enjoyable to talk with, but actually remember your name and want to help. This shouldn't discount the efforts of the other, surely more personable employees--nor at least a visit or two to check out their selection--but it definitely detracts from any kind of regular patronage.

It's this: Do I have to prove myself to be "worthy" to be in their store? The places that make me cringe are the ones that treat me like the fake geek girl stereotype and ignore or quiz me. The places I love are the ones where the staff has a conversation with me, asks me what I am interested in, gives great suggestions - or you know, just treats me like a human. Casablanca has always been welcoming. I used to frequent the Portland store when I moved to Maine. I had not read much in the way of comics, and they were great to me. Thirteen years later, I am still not an expert, but my fandoms and tastes have been able to carve a path, and they are still amazing to talk to. The store in Windam is a bit bigger, and I hope it gets the customers out there it deserves. Plenty of offerings, well organized, and just friendly. The staff just simply cares about comics, graphic novels and the fringe things that come with it. I have never felt judged or less than there, and unfortunately, that is rare with comic and game shops.

If we have another thunder storm and get stuck in the cabin, we'll be headed back to re-stock. Over all, it's a decent comic book store, with a good selection and knowledgeable, friendly staff. This is refreshing, as I'm not your typical comic collector and have had run-ins with holier-than-throw, neck-beards, from other shops in the past.

It's located in the same plaza as the Shaws. It is a great location and would be a no brainer to be the go to bookstore if we were located closer. My wife could spend hours and hours browsing around this or any bookstore. They do offer more than jus books including puzzles, board games, jewelry, stationary, journals and more. They have all of the variety of genres you would expect and have all of the new releases and classics you'd expect. The different sections are labeled well and the entire space is spread out well enough to never make you feel crowded even if it were busy. Prices are what you'd expect for a bookstore and if you are looking for a deal you can browse their on sale books and maybe find a hidden gem. My wife and I enjoyed browsing this Sherman's and my wife even thinks it is the her favorite of the locations we have visited so far. Great local bookstore to support for those in the Saco & Biddeford area!

Lots of options ranging from high priced graded cards from 60s and 70s to affordable hall of famer rookie cards of recent retired stars. Lots of old wax boxes from the 80s and 90s and complete sets. They had a lot of cool new hobby boxes and retail for basketball and football. Some more high end baseball hobby boxes would be awesome.
