Agin if you can buy them out of security just because it will be cheaper most times. Sometimes they do have sales on though so check and see what they are offering. You can buy and donate items to service men. I recommend the beef jerky if you do it. All in all if your pinch they will do. Always check in for sales if you have time.

When I asked the clerks what the name of the store is - they told me it's a "Paradies Shop" - which is the company that runs it. In any case, this store carries cold bottled water and sodas, snacks, toiletries, books, magazines, newspapers, and tourist knick-knacks. I picked up some cold bottled water here after passing through the TSA security checkpoint.

I'd never been before so we walked into the gift shop and got a helpful rundown on how it all works from a woman working there. After perusing the gift shop and ordering a wreath to be made, we rode in the gator up the hill to pick out a tree. A friendly guy named Sam helped saw the tree down and dragged it back to the gator for us so we could ride back to the front of the farm and check out. After getting our beautiful wreath, checking out and having our tree wrapped in netting, another friendly guy helped carry it to the car for us. It was not until we got to the car that he mentioned he can't tie it to the car for us because it's a liability to the owner (apparently if the tree flies off our car and hits another one, the owner believes he is liable and is very strict about not letting his employees help tie trees to cars). As two women, one with a baby strapped to them, it would have been very helpful for someone to explain this BEFORE we got to the car. We encountered maybe 6 employees, none who explained this important detail. We ended up figuring it out and made it home safely with our tree but that was pretty frustrating. Overall, this is a great place to come get a tree...just be prepared to tie it to your own car!

In essence, Mangy Moose is a gift shop that sells lots of souvenirs and other tchotchkes. You may be thinking that it's like every other souvenir shop in a touristy part of Maine - and I may agree with you to an extent. However, I like the fact that Mangy Moose is large and its selection is beyond what you would find elsewhere; I would argue that you would need to go to several stores to find what MM has under one roof. Clothing, jewelry, signs, books, housewares, holiday stuff, toys - it's all here. Also, the store is arranged nicely with lots of space to roam. Overall, if you're in Freeport I would definitely recommend stopping at Mangy Moose - it's a nice break from the typical outlets you find in the area and you may just leave with a little something.
