We purchased a vehicle from here in July, 2025. The van i purchased needed the AC repaired and the sun roof fixed as well. It took a couple visits to repair the AC, which is still running great but no luck on the roof. I may have to take it to someone who is experienced in those things. The car is top notch and very nice and helpful service in getting it registered . We feel the cost is very comprobable to the value, also a very nice job done on getting the car cleaned inside and out before i picked it up. All in All a 5 star experience. Great small business, called jay or employee up with a rear clunking issues. They got me in quickly and looked at it right away. it wasn't a big problem so they tightened all my bolts, checked breaks and rotors then gave me a response that afternoon. I was driving through the area when my car started indicating problems with emission system and AWD. Concerned, I started calling mechanics nearby. Everyone was super booked up and wouldn't even look at the car. Except when I called Jay's, he offered to check out the car despite being busy. He even checked the oil. This allowed me to feel really reassured that I would be able to make it to my destination hours away safely, and he did it for free. So, I had trouble starting my car. The electrical system would come on, then turn the key, and nothing, not even a click. I called Jay's auto to check it out and probably replace the starter. So, he replaced the starter for around $300. The car still had intermittent starting issues. I called him back and he said, "I'm sure it had a bad starter." He said to bring it in and he'd check it. But the problem stopped and the car started OK. After 3 months, the problem came back. I called him again and he said, "You told me to put in a starter, so I put in a starter! It's probably a bad solenoid." He said to bring it in to check it. So, I went to Warren Tire on 159 Stone Quarry Rd Halfmoon, NY 12065. The mechanic pointed out that my floor mat was too thick and the clutch couldn't press down enough to enable the starter! Free fix, but how do you fix stupid? It is odd that a toyota starter would fail at only 135,000 miles. Do you think it did? We'll never know. I reported, you decide. read more

Why they can't typically get you in right away - because they are really awesome and have an impeccable reputation with integrity as honest and trustworthy so they have a lot of business and it's not a corporate monster where you are just another person with a problem! Prices are very fair for parts and labor and consistent - right off the bat knowing this and having the peace of mind that it's going to be done right the first time I have never tried to use a coupon there or ask for a "price match" from another shop's "deals". What I have done a couple times early on, after my work was completed is call and ask for an estimate at other shops for what was on the invoice I had just paid - it's always been very close sometimes a little lower or a little higher but close unless the othe places were trying to inflate prices BUT how I was treated by Jay and the guys there is 100% worth my loyalty, trust & repeat business! Took my car here because I needed new brakes and rotors. Started searching for places other than Honda because they quoted me $2000. Came here because I was quoted significantly less. New brakes and pads and such were put on, but I noticed squeaking as soon as I started driving. I was told it would eventually wear off. A few months later it still hadn't worn off. Brought my car back and was told nothing was wrong and to give it more time. Here we are a year later and they squeal worse than they ever have before. They never even made noise when I needed them changed. People tell me all the time "you need new brakes" because of how bad they sound and it drives me crazy. I called Jay's Auto repair after doing a online search for repair shops in my area. We are new to the area and haven't had the need til now for a repair shop. I called Jay early Monday am explaining to him what was the issue with my sons car. Not only was his car broken down, it wasn't running and we would need it towed. Jay quoted me a price that seemed very reasonable. One stop shop. Jay told me he probably couldn't get to the car til tomorrow. I said that was fine. I had called other repair shops in the area and not only did they not have the ability to tow they couldn't get to the car for a few days. Also other shops that I called were quite a bit higher for the repair and not even adding the tow. I was pleasantly surprised when Jay called me the same afternoon saying my sons car was fixed!!!!! Jay's Auto Repair is far from the fleece-customers-first mentality evident in brand name shops or dealers. It's a pleasant rarity these days. After being quoted $828.70 from Warren Tire to have all four brake pads and rotors replaced, I elected to find a shop that knew the difference between profit and price gouging. Based on the reviews, I called Jay's and asked for only a labor quote if I supplied the pads and rotors (Power Stop Z23). Jay said it'd be $150 plus tax, and he was true to his word when the work was performed. I would have liked to done the work myself, but my apartment lease forbids me from doing car maintenance, so I needed to find a place that charged reasonable prices. In exactly an hour he had the new brakes installed and the car satisfactorily road tested. Jay was very professional and easy going. He also didn't try to sell me unnecessary goods or services, which I sincerely appreciated. Since his shop isn't open on weekends, he tends to be booked solid for at least a week in advance, so you have been warned. His reputation clearly speaks for itself, and that is a good thing. read more

Had the traditional head gasket failure in an older Subaru. Called around and Jay knew what it was, had done the work before and offered a very reasonable price. He wasn't fast (and made that clear upfront), but he did what was promised well and with a great value. When a check engine light came on soon after (a VVL sensor) he replaced the sensor and installed ignition cables (as we asked) for just the cost of parts, completing the job in a great way. Because Jay pays personal attention to every car (and owner), his business is about quality & value and not about quick turnaround. If you want dealer elegance, go ahead and pay dealer prices, but if you want a guy who will earnestly fix your car when it needs help, Jay's your man. read more

I typically do 99% of my own auto repairs and maintenance simply because I'm particular about how it's done. Jay's is one of the few places I'll bring my cars when it's beyond my ability. They recently replaced my timing belt and water pump. While they were working on the car they noticed my serpentine belt was pretty worn and recommended it be replaced. Nice catch, I had missed it, and they only charged me for the cost of the belt. He had it done when he said and charged me exactly what he quoted. There are so few places you can trust thee days. I was stuck in Clifton park while I was traveling for work about a week ago. My car started making a horrific noise whenever I pressed the accelerator. Imaging the worst, I quickly googled auto repair shops. Thankfully I found Jay's Repair Shop fairly close by. I drove in without calling and found out that they would be closing soon since it was Friday at 4m. It looked like I might be stuck in Albany until I could find someplace to repair it over the weekend. Jay offered to take my car for a drive to see where the sound was coming from. Within 15 minutes he had diagnosed the sound and had my car on the lift for a closer look. He showed me what was going on and fixed it quickly. I could not believe how fast and friendly he was. This is like a diamond in the rough it's one of Clifton park-halfmoon best kept secrets if you've never been to Jay's Auto you need to stop by and experience what many people experience he does not advertise it's mostly networking mind you it is a small two car garage repair facility I have been going there for over 15 years I will not go anywhere else prior to I used to go to the dealer used to go to other local repair shops until one day I went to the repair shop I was did business with they were so booked said they couldn't do it for 4 days . In speaking with friends I reached out and asked them if they knew a place I could go I was referred to Jays his prices are superior the work is outstanding prices are very reasonable folks if you don't believe me check it out for yourself you won't meet a more honest person I was quoted a price for a radiator from another repair shop I came to Jays the price was half the price I questioned it. is it the radiator going to work is a the same type of radiator Jay's answer was we can order OEM which is the original equipment that comes with the vehicle from the manufacturer . However the price is going to be much higher so I went with the aftermarket radiator it's 10 years later I have had no problems with the radiator but he instructed me providing that you flush the radiator upon recommendation. I'm a single female, and every time I go in a shop, they look at me and say easy prey, I laugh because both my sons are mechanics, and I have this very trustworthy honest guy Jay, at Jays Auto, I have used him a couple of times in the past couple of years, every time I called him, he made every effort to get me right in, and get my car back to me in a decent amount of time, and he's always done the job right the first time, I've never had any issues with my car after he has fixed it, most recently I had a power steering pump problem, it is an old car the part was almost impossible to find, I checked of course at all the chains and locals and every one tried to charge me over $800-$1000, Jay fixed if for less than $400, I also had my parking gear broke and was tuck in Albany, and they came to get the car, fixed it and the guy came in on Saturday to fix it, so I could have my car back asap.
