The staff Donny, Penny, and the old owner were always friendly, knowledgeable, and professional -- they made the place feel welcoming and trustworthy. Since the shop has changed ownership, things just aren't the same. The newer staff seems very inexperienced and not nearly as helpful. Customer service has definitely slipped, and the overall atmosphere feels less professional and less polished than it used to. On top of that, ammo prices are noticeably higher than what you'll find at big‑box stores, which makes it harder to justify shopping local. I used to rate Ironhorse a solid 5, but at this point it's closer to a 1. There is room for improvement, and I'd love to see the shop get back to the level of service and professionalism it once had.

Problems started when I went to their physical store to pick them up. The shop was clearly understaffed, and I waited about 20 minutes just to be helped. I also bought additional items that day. When I returned the very next day (Christmas Eve) to return an unopened item perfectly happy with store credit I was told by someone who appeared to be an owner or manager that they do not accept returns or exchanges under any circumstances. This policy was never explained at purchase, is not on the receipt, and is not listed on their website. I was also told at the gun show that exchanges were allowed. When I questioned this, I was met with attitude and dismissiveness, and the interaction ended with, "Well, I guess the conversation is done," as I was leaving. In 2025, refusing returns or exchanges even for store credit while advertising that you "care about customer satisfaction" is unacceptable. Once you buy something here, you're stuck with it. I won't be returning and would rather drive to a competitor.

It was a comfortable place to learn. Our instructor, Dave Heath, is outstanding in his knowledge and ability to instruct on the laws and gun safety. Furthermore, his instruction at the gun range was terrific and helped me, a first time shooter, gain confidence and basic skill. My husband had been a marksmen in the service decades ago, and he explains that Dave was great at helping my husband remember his long-forgotten skills. This was a hybrid class that the State of Colorado now allows in the midst of the Covid pandemic so we took part of the course in person and part online in a Zoom class which worked beautifully. We highly recommend the Colorado Gun Class Safety and Carry Conceal course and commend Dave Heath as very very good at what he does!

Obviously, lots of specifics need to be taken care of before any shooting can take place. While we all signed the waiver before arrival as asked, there were some computer complications that showed otherwise. However, all staff were extremely friendly! Upon entrance to the club, you are in the shop-which can be overwhelming for a novice. The staff that work here in the shop as well as throughout the entire range are extremely helpful and knowledgeable. We had a specific instructor assigned to us for our time here, and she was absolutely superb. The gun range itself is well set up with clear safety protocols in place. Any hobby at this time in 2026 is going to be pricey. However, if guns are your hobby, this would be a good place in terms of what you get for what you spend.

I chose this location solely because their website says: "Westminster Arms is dedicated to the safety of all those in our community. We believe the 2nd Amendment applies to all law-abiding Americans regardless of the color of their skin, LGBTQ or income level, etc. We value your business and will work hard to earn it. 'An armed minority is harder to oppress'" I dig that a gun shop has this stance as it aligns with my personal views. The sales people are very friendly though a bit solemn sometimes. Once you get them talking they are very open though. They seem to have some nice pieces in stock if you want to buy from them directly but if you need a FFL. This is the place.

Even very experienced shooters will get some points from this class and become better. I have been an instructor and have received professional training for almost 20 years. Dave and Rob are among the best trainers I have ever seen. They take time to identify specific ways they can coach and help each student, and then present information and coaching in an encouraging, supportive way. They create a fun, productive training environment which encourages people to try new things and see what works for them. They are very respectful, use good natured humor and will definitely take you from wherever you are and help you get better. That is the hallmark of excellent instructors! Take this class. Regardless of how good you are. You'll get better!

The lessons are OK. The instructors are hit and miss. They are mostly college age and there is…read morefrequent turnover as they move on, go back to college, etc. When our daughter was going to PMA, she had some good and some not so good instructors. One didn't even seem interested, was just getting through the hour. The web site is deceptive. For instance, #5 of the "12 benefits" says "A comfortable waiting room for parents" and has a photo of a large room with big windows and leather couches, giving the impression that the photo is the waiting room. It is not. In fact, the room pictured is not anywhere at their facility. I don't know where it is but it's not at Parker Music Academy. On the web site, the photo by #3 and #6 shows a lovely outdoor amphitheater with people playing instruments. This photo is also not anywhere at Parker Music Academy. Maybe they posed some students in another town? I'm not sure. But, their actual facility is an old house that has been converted. The "waiting room" is a VERY small foyer with an old, broken-down sofa. Looks like the front room in your weird 70 year old aunt's house. The facilities are totally misrepresented on the web site. Their waiting room is not large or comfortable by any means. If more than 3 or 4 parents are waiting, someone must stand. As far as the 5 acres of space, maybe they own 5 acres but all I've ever seen was the old house and a gravel driveway with mud holes. There is no space for playing music outdoors. As far as the "Observation windows" talked about in #5, I don't know what they're talking about. When I read that, I thought there would be windows from the waiting room into the lesson rooms so waiting parents could watch. No such thing. The lesson rooms are small rooms with regular house windows to outdoors. I suppose one could walk around the outside of the house in the weeds and look into the rooms like a peeping-Tom, but I've never seen anyone do that. The photos on the web site by #2 (indoor) and #7 and #12 (outdoor) are also not anywhere near their facility. They were taken somewhere else, somewhere much nicer than their facility. If they are going to post photos on a web site that brags about their facilities, the photos should actually show the facilities rather than some other, random location. The web site also says "Conveniently located" in Parker and "Central location." Well, not exactly. They're quite a ways out a gravel road, not anywhere near the center of town. To be fair, the location is not terrible. It doesn't take long to get there. But, it's not as if it's on Main St. or Parker Rd. or any other paved road in town. In summary, the lessons are OK. They do offer many days/times to fit just about any schedule. But, their web site does NOT give an accurate impression of their facilities, not even close.
