Trained here for a little over two years, only quit because I moved to another state…read more This is a great place to train, always clean and inviting. The teachers are very personable and knowledgeable. The system itself is very quick and versatile, I feel like I know techniques for a pretty wide variety of situations after my time here. Its roots reach all the way back to the Shaolin temple in China, and the soul of the art is still there. The practical application is definitely a street fighting style, though. I have no doubt that you could defend yourself well with this system if you train regularly and correctly. I was worried this would be a McDojo when I first saw it, I'm very glad I was wrong. Membership gets you unlimited group classes and one private lesson a week. Having one on one time with your teacher is great thing, it's the best way to get the little details that make all the difference in your material right. One of the great things about Z is the people. Everyone who puts on the patch is connected. All the Senseis are in touch with their teachers and masters regularly, all the way up to Grandmaster himself. Want to learn a weapon but your instructor doesn't know it? They can probably connect you to someone in Z who does. I've been to a few tournaments, and on a two week trip to China with Z students and instructors from all over the country. I've never met anyone I had a problem with, and I made a lot of friends. Martial arts is a wonderful thing, and Z is a wonderful way to experience it.
