I've been coming to Ironhorse Armory for years. Back when it was a small, family‑owned shop, the experience was consistently excellent. The staff Donny, Penny, and the old owner were always friendly, knowledgeable, and professional -- they made the place feel welcoming and trustworthy. Since the shop has changed ownership, things just aren't the same. The newer staff seems very inexperienced and not nearly as helpful. Customer service has definitely slipped, and the overall atmosphere feels less professional and less polished than it used to. On top of that, ammo prices are noticeably higher than what you'll find at big‑box stores, which makes it harder to justify shopping local. I used to rate Ironhorse a solid 5, but at this point it's closer to a 1. There is room for improvement, and I'd love to see the shop get back to the level of service and professionalism it once had. read more

I wanted to support Iron Horse. I really did. I think the staff were nice and pleasant to chat with. However, I cannot ignore what I was told today by the staff. July 3, I wanted to purchase a shark coast rifle for myself before the restriction came into effect. The first one was missing the optic, and the flashlight which were supposed to come with it. The staff told me that they would contact the manufacturer to get those parts in. And I had my name and number written down when they arrived. Which never happened. Come a few weeks later, and I call Iron Horse asking about those parts, yet was not given an answer. I instead worked with the staff member on the phone and work out for another version of the same rifle would be ordered for me and it would arrive in three days and they would call me back. That also never happened, and granted, I should have called. I do not blame this individual at all in the slightest given what happened. He did place the order. I know that, and I appreciate it. I call yesterday asking about it, another staff member tells me that the rifle is likely still packed and they would look and call me back. Also nothing. Which leads me to today. As I asked about that special order, not only did they actually unpack the gun, but they sold it to another person even though it was reserved for me since I special ordered it. When I expressed my disappointment in the lack of communication, the person on the other line, Mark, tried pushing the blame onto the ban, and also onto me for waiting. Even though I placed the order before the ban, and was never notified....AND got sold to someone else. Their reasoning? "They have been flying off the shelves." What was their solution? Try to reason with me by saying they'd offer the class to me, but I'd have to pay for it, and the rifle both. I'm lucky that I didn't put any money down on the rifle initially. If it happened to me, it'll happen, and most likely has happened to others. I cannot recommend this place. I will never shop here again, and I will make sure to inform others so that they don't have to experience this lack of customer service like I have. I hope this improves....and I want to believe it. But as of now? I don't see it happening. Please be better Iron Horse. read more

(Would give 0 stars if possible) I purchased two pistols from this company at the Tanner Gun Show and initially had no issues. Problems started when I went to their physical store to pick them up. The shop was clearly understaffed, and I waited about 20 minutes just to be helped. I also bought additional items that day. When I returned the very next day (Christmas Eve) to return an unopened item perfectly happy with store credit I was told by someone who appeared to be an owner or manager that they do not accept returns or exchanges under any circumstances. This policy was never explained at purchase, is not on the receipt, and is not listed on their website. I was also told at the gun show that exchanges were allowed. When I questioned this, I was met with attitude and dismissiveness, and the interaction ended with, "Well, I guess the conversation is done," as I was leaving. In 2025, refusing returns or exchanges even for store credit while advertising that you "care about customer satisfaction" is unacceptable. Once you buy something here, you're stuck with it. I won't be returning and would rather drive to a competitor. read more

These guys are great! Very knowledgeable and friendly. I have purchased several guns and suppressors here and will buy many more! They always greet customers and answer any questions regardless of how much help you require. The FFL transfer fees are very reasonable for an independent shop. Some big box stores even charge more. They have a great selection and have ordered items for me when I wanted something they didn't have on site. Lastly, I have some personal experience with Darcy S. Who left a bad review. Darcy is never happy. I sold her an xtra large butt plug that she had been eagerly awaiting for quite some time. Then she came back the very next day and complained it wasn't big enough ( it inflates to the size of a volleyball). I tried to explain that if they made them any larger it could be a high risk to internal organs but she wouldn't accept the facts and said it was my fault. Absolute rip off $65 FFL fees for firearm transfer. Customer service is non-existent very rude demeanor. Have no clue on the new house bill for how the waiting period works, they just reference that their lawyers made them none the wiser. Pretty sure this was the place bragging to the news when they got caught describing how they sell parts to make illegal magazines. With letterhead law enforcement duty purchase, still held duty guns for 3 days. Per C.R.S 18-12-115 (2) (c) HB23-2319 page 3. A firearm transfer for which a background check is not pursuant to State or Federal Law. E.g. letterhead from a state agency advising Law Enforcement for duty only firearm. Would not recommend spending money here, much better places to go with more relatable staff and better prices across the board. First and last transaction with this place ever. Education is not cheap. read more

Wow. I loved this shop man. Been coming here for years with my uncle since the times when I could only buy hunting rifles. I came today 45 minutes out of my way to maybe buy some mags and ask a couple of questions but was meant with an unpleasant attitude. I trust y'all making the right decisions with who you hire but maybe don't put the guy with the worst attitude behind the register. The biggest problem is we bought night vision binoculars, but the night vision function doesn't even work. The only reason I come here is when I need something fast and don't want to drive to my normal place. Some of the staff can be helpful but in my experience, they don't like people. They are very limited on what they sell as far as guns and accessories. You're better off going somewhere else unless you just need ammo. read more

Have been going there off & on for a few years now (since I live only a few miles away from Iron Horse Armory). I have been greeted as soon as I came in the door and asked if I needed help in locating anything. I have asked about different firearms that I was looking for and haven't had any issues for if it was not at the store that it could be ordered if in stock. I have had to go this route a couple of times and it was a good transaction all the way around! I have asked about transfer fees and found that it wasn't as bad as other places. I have also visited Iron Horse Armory at the gun shows and have seen a very huge selection of firearms and other products that the store doesn't have on display immediately and again they have been very helpful! As far as pricing, if I was looking for a sale on something, I would always check around for it can be hit or miss on that. read more

Terrible staff! The staff did not greet me when I walked in. While waking around the store checking out their guns, ammo supplies and accessories, none of the staff asked me if I needed any help. Staff was very helpful in my selection of a good concealed firearm. They were very busy but still took their time with each client, which I appreciated very much. I ordered a sig 365 that needed to have the grip changed, the armourer changed it out in like 5 min for me. You can safely ignore the poor reviews by others. I visited iron horse armory because I like to support local businesses as much as possible. I was greeted promptly upon entry and it got even better from there. A very knowledgeable and good group of guys. I not only purchased my first handgun from them but also signed up for a couple classes. Todd did a great job with the basic handgun classroom and range time. Rob excels at the more advanced trainings and CCW. I look forward to being a future customer as well as continuing my education through their expanding training courses. I am absolutely disappointed with my purchase. IMHO they are way over priced take your money elsewhere. Not only was i way overcharged, my fault for being stupid and shopping there, but after days of waiting for the approval to purchase the weapon i bought was all scrapped and scratched up. It felt like to me that i picked out the gun i wanted, ran the approval and after days of waiting i came to pick it up and they sold me the gun that got dropped out of the delivery truck on the asphalt or was already used, A sort of bait and switch that is how i felt. I would never give them any of my hard earned money again. Thank god i did not sign up for classes with them. Let me start with yes, this place will draw n your life savings for a box of ammunition, but, when you need ammo that no one else in town has, they have it. This is definitely a store that believes in our second amendment so I'll pay a little more here rather than at a National chain. read more

I really wanted to like this place. It came highly recommended from people I trust, but the staff really let me down. I had these guys handle a transfer, which requires you to go in multiple times. The first time I was in there the guy helping me seemed put out by having to attend me. He was busy talking to a buddy and using profanity in front of the customers. I'm not offended personally, but he was repeatedly using the F word in a busy shop...and belching loudly for some reason. I wasn't sure if ge was trying to get fired. I hoped that was a fluke, but the other employees didn't seemed shocked. The second time I went in, I watched two employees interact with another customer who was new to firearms. They were short with him, were irritated by his questions, and tried to make him feel stupid for asking them. When I went in a third time to pick up my order, I purposefully chose the middle of a week day when I figured they wouldn't be busy. I walked into the shop and there were no other customers. There were 4 employees at the counters all doing paperwork. It is not a big shop and they all saw me walk in. No one said a word to me and I stood waiting at the counter with my license out. I could have been pushy but decided to see how long they would ignore me. 5 minutes before one of them decide to talk to me, and seemed annoyed that I was there. I told him what I needed and he went to get my order. He came back and handled my transaction but acted like he was doing me a favor the whole time. I know they have been swamped, and I know we are in the middle of the pandemic, but no one at this place seems to want to be there or be dealing with customers. I would prefer to support small businesses like this one, but there are other nearby options where I will take my business in the future. read more

During purchase of a firearm, I put down probably 2k. They told me they would mount the optic and bore sight. I figured with the investment that this was a good thing. Went in after the background check to pickup the firearm. They told me it would be a two week wait to mount and bore sight. That's laughable as with anyone that has ever did this. It takes ten minutes. Also some folks are great like Jake. He has some of the best customer service. Other folks not so much. Franktown firearms or damage factory will be my choice from now on. I can't speak to the gun sales and sales service at this establishment but I can speak to having one of your guns serviced at this place. I took my shotgun and pistol in for service and cleaning. The shotgun needed a sight replacement as well and I was told it would be about a week or so to get a new sight for it. First off, I dropped both off on 11/28/18 and I finally received the shotgun back on 12/20/18 after an initial attempt to pick it up on 12/18/18. When I dropped off both guns, I was very specific about them being thoroughly cleaned. I understand that the sight might have taken some time to get and more communication on this would have been appreciated as a customer. When I received a call that the shotgun was ready (I had already picked up the 9mm a week before) I went in the shop that evening to pick it up. Upon inspection, the gun did not look clean at all so I placed my finger in the action to give it a quick wipe...my finger came out completely dirty. I showed this to the man at the counter and also spoke to the lady behind the counter and told them that the gun was not cleaned. I asked them again to clean the gun as that's what I was paying for. I picked the gun up on 12/20/18, took it home and took it apart to see if it was actually cleaned due to my first experience. The gun had been oiled...but cleaned, not a chance. Please see attached photo after taking the gun apart in a couple minutes and giving it a quick wipe down when I got it home. Again, this might be a great place for sales, but I would definitely not recommend this establishment for gun service. One and done. read more

I took the CCW class this weekend a it was amazing. I was impressed by our instructor and class. They taught us more than it was required. Always stressed safety. Gave us all the information on the laws and uses of our CCW license. Stressed practice and safety for all arms. Very knowledgeable and an expert on this subject. Learned a lot about handling your handgun. Over 3 hours in classroom and the next day at the shooting range. Big Rob and Small Rob helped me with the gun safety basics. We treated all guns as loaded. They went above and beyond to teach me how to shoot safely. Improved my stance, reloading, and showed me how to handle a jammed breach. They both also improved my grip. I was impressed on how fun and great the experience was. They made it fun, but also stressed safety at the range. I would highly recommend this Gun Shop and training to anyone who wants to learn the right way of shooting. They also recommended what firearms that would work for me. The shop was professional and knowledgeable on what would fit my needs. All around a great experience and I will be spending my hard earned money here. I hope you do to... read more
