We just moved to Brooklyn and we were looking for a sushi place. We stumbled upon this restaurant by accident and decided to go it. We sat at the bar and Robbie was our chef. He was great - very friendly! We placed our order, but since he knew we were new to the area, he prepared a special salad as a starter and after our meal he treated us to a special Yucca dessert. Awful customer service, good food. The food was very good and well priced compared to most of the Japanese food I have ordered in the area. Unfortunately, the seamless menu is not correct and management apparently either doesn't work or refuses to talk to their customers at 8 pm on a Saturday. It seems there was a bit of confusion with the seamless menu and the two different employees I spoke with (for almost 15 minutes in total after being hung up on part way through) refused to acknowledge their mistake and just "played dumb" and did not honor my request to make a mends for their mistake. I would normally be happy to frequent this restaurant, but due to how I was treated, I am much more hesitant which is unfortunate. read more

Good sushi for the price, nothing mind blowing but lots of variety and the rolls are big. I order here almost weekly and only really had an issue once with an extremely delayed order but they've won my trust back now over time :) I've tried a few other take out/delivery spots in the neighborhood and I think this is the best. read more

There are few Japanese options in Northern Greenpoint so I was really excited to see Wasabi on Allmenus.com, it makes ordering much easier, and I'm more confident that my order will be correct. I ordered on a Thursday night around 7:15 and got my order promptly at 8:00. I was pretty hungry and completely over ordered but everything was very good. I got a bunch of rolls, a sushi platter, the very tasty Wasabi House Salad (Mixed green with apple, orange, walnuts with orange juice sauce), and the Shumai Katsu (deep fried shrimp dumplings) which were as awesome as anything breaded and fried. I tend to judge a Japanese restaurant by their spicy tuna roll, probably because I always order at least one, and if it's good it tends to be that everything else is good as well. Wasabi was on the mark with their spicy tuna roll and as expected so was everything else. Wasabi gets top marks for food and delivery and even better that they are now on Allmenus. read more

I just pass by this area with my wife and kids and want to get a new place to eat. Then we see the Wasabi from the outside the place looks so peace, so we just get in want to try. The chef name is Robby he just stop by to our desk after we talked and he knew that we're not living around this area. So he made the special soup for us to try. I went here after buying a Groupon. I wasn't explained the menu, specials or anything when I was seated and there were only 2 other patrons that were already eating. I had started to place an order of miso soup and one roll just because I had been sitting for a while without ordering and it was the waitress' third time asking me. After I ordered, I turned the page and saw some deals, where you could get 3 regular rolls of your choice plus soup and salad for $13.50. She easily changed my order of the soup and roll to the deal and served the rest. I had the spicy salmon, spicy tuna and spicy yellowtail. I don't know what vegetable it normally comes with since I had to pay extra for the avocado. They seem to be a little cheap with the side of ginger, as I had to ask for more about 4 times. I guess I don't eat with chop sticks as correctly as one should, so the waitress made me a little concoction to try and make it easier for me, which was very nice of her. I normally love all three spicy rolls but was only a fan of the salmon here. What topped off my meal and made this review 3 stars was their fried ice cream, which is phenomenal! They use the crunch that they also use in sushi and Japanese bread crumbs to cover the ice cream and deep fry it. It is to die for, a must have! I would go back, just for the dessert, lol. They have a nice variety of specialty rolls but I'm not a fan of mango or soy paper in/around my sushi and many of their choices have masango as well. I was told that it was roe/fish eggs and I've never had that in my sushi before and the specialty rolls cost too much ($10-$14) for me to try and chance me not liking it. I ordered Salmon Teriyaki, Amaebi Sushi (Sweet shrimp) plus fried red bean ice cream. The salmon was amazing! The shrimp was also very good and the fried ice cream was delicious. But what made me give it 5 stars was the waitress. She was fantastic! Asked me what I was looking for and showed my how can I make my meal taste more amazing then it already was. Love this place! This place is only an 8 minute walk from where I work, and the lunch special is definitely a great deal. Two rolls, Miso Soup, and Salad for only 7.95! In addition, everything is served neatly, and the food is great. I usually stick with Spicy Crunchy Tuna, Spicy Kani, and Shrimp Tempora Rolls, so my review is specifically for those rolls. I have been to Wasabi for a long period. Love their fully-stuffed sushi, not those loose sushi you can find everywhere. Especially after they changed sushi master months ago, it became even better. Lets start with the obvious: this 4-star review does not mean that Wasabi is a 4-star sushi restaurant. If you go there expecting Sasabune or something (which, to judge by the reviews, some of the previous reviewers have), you're going to be sadly disappointed. Wasabi is, however, delicious, cheap, convenient, and all-in-all an amazing addition to the sadly lacking lunch-scape of MTW. I've worked here for two years, and, as someone who craves sushi almost constantly, had to deal with subpar, overpriced sushi, usually choosing between sketchy deli sushi, Dean and Deluca's insanely over-priced and (not very good) offerings, or the terrifying sushi restaurant below my office. No more! Wasabi's sushi is delicious, fresh, and incredibly affordable. I love the individually wrapped pieces, as well as the combo boxes - definitely reminiscent of some sushi spots in England (where I believe the chain got its start). This is worst Japanese restaurant in my life! I order spicy salmon but there is noooooo real salmon. They use fish cake which is Chinese stlyle. It means fake roll. This place is delish, after my go to sushi places started to disappoint I decided to venture out and try something new. I found this place on seamless and SO glad I gave it a try, the sushi is delicious. I have been ordering the Florida roll which is an all time fave that I have not found at many places. I'm never in this part of Brooklyn so eating here was just a matter of convenience, but it was delicious enough. My roommate and I both got the 3 roll lunch special which comes with miso soup or a salad. I got the salmon, salmon avocado, and the spicy yellowtail jalapeño scallion roll. Regardless of where I'm eating my favorite roll is usually salmon, but for once it wasn't. The yellowtail was fantastic, a great spice level and the scallions and jalapeño gave it a nice crunch. Not a lot of places have the options of yellowtail with scallions AND jalapeno, usually it's one or the other. So that's nice. Other than that the rolls were ordinary, nothing special but still good. I've had identical salmon rolls at my local sushi place. If you're in the area come here for the lunch special, they have a wide range of rolls. I doubt I'll ever eat here again, mostly because I'm never in this area, but I do recommend it. read more

so this review is entirely based on one factor and one factor alone. i was expecting maki rolls and got hand rolls instead. the headline on the menu says Rolls/Hand Rolls so maybe i should've anticipated my disappointment, but the specific rolls didn't indicate what they would be. and why would they give me chopsticks when the only conceivable way to eat these things is with your hand? if you're at all like me and like your sushi in bite-sized pieces rather than a big ol' funnel o' seaweed stuffed with ingredients that fall all over the place and leave a mess, then don't order from wasabi or, at the very least, ask if they can make it a maki roll instead of a handroll. the ingredients themselves seem ok... except the seaweed which is a little chewy. it's the little things that get me... read more

The sushi here is great. However, it's not groupon friendly. Adds all over yelp, groupon and their windows state sake is free with dinner. The server charged us and argued it didn't come with groupon. We showed him the groupon which states it's included. he continued to argue stating management doesn't allow it. Management never came. I've been a long-time Wasabi customer (since they opened in 2002), but this is the first time I've written. It is by far our sushi comfort-food haven. I am a big sashimi fan and they never disappoint - always fresh and the prices are by far the best of the surrounding area. Owner/chef Robby and staff are always ready to suggest new items and new dishes. His special salads are eclectic and delightful with a surprising (in a good way) combination of flavors. Their specialty rolls have a great blend for a variety of tastes. The decor is simple - we're there for the food and service. The free sake with dinner is a plus.
