bedford gardens is an excellent vietnamese restaurant that's kind of a sleeper bc the name doesn't explicitly convey what they sell. this is probably one of the best bun no hue in nyc - i love that they serve oxtail instead of pork shoulder. pho is also solid, but the broth is a little sweet for my taste. i can't wait to try their banh mi and rice bowls next time! staff was speedy and super accommodating. they also have the cutest garden seating in the back!
What immediately drew me to this spot is the garden dining area in the back. They almost tried to seat us inside the restaurant too, but luckily we request the back area. This space is aesthetic with all the greenery. Another thing I enjoyed is the huge variety of dishes from sushi and seafood boils to Vietnamese soups and sandwiches. It's perfect when you want a little bit of everything. My friend and I decided to each share the Bun Bo Hue ($24) and 5 Spice Pork Banh Mi ($14). The bun bo hue was flavorful and delicious. The meat was also tender, but just found the bowl to be quite pricey for the bowl. It's good and hits the spot though. As for the banh mi, this was just OK as the ingredients were minimal and the bread was a bit too hard. It did help by dipping the bread into the soup though to soften it up. Overall, nice spot with good variety of eats. With not many places that serve bun bo hue, this was a nice find in the area.

It was freezing in NYC and I suddenly craved BBH. We were nearby and chose this spot since it was the closest. At first, I thought it was just a sushi restaurant, but they actually have much more. They asked if we wanted to sit inside or outside--we chose outside without thinking, and I'm so glad we did. The back garden is beautiful. They also give you a bell to ring when you're ready, which we loved because it gives you time and doesn't feel rushed. We ordered steamed shumai, brisket pho (extra brisket), and BBH. I thought $18 for pho was pricey compared to Houston--but I was wrong. The broth was sooo good, brisket slices were super thick, juicy, and fatty. You can tell it was cooked for a long time. The BBH was just as impressive--rich, beefy, and probably the closest to Vietnam I've had. They use pig tail instead of pork knuckle, which was so tasty. I didn't even need to add anything. Honestly, this might be one of the best pho and BBH spots we've tried--even coming from Houston's big Vietnamese community. It's pricey, but the quality, service, and atmosphere make it worth it. It gets busy fast, so plan ahead. If you're in the area, this spot is approved. Can't wait to come back next time I'm in NYC!
Bahn xeo has a crisp delicate exterior and an almost thin creamy interior. Pretty good portion and would get it again. They have a combination of both sushi & its fun variations (crispy fried rice ball was delightful) & the back provides the illusion of a warm spring day in a cold winter.
Rating: 3.5 Stars My friend and I stopped by randomly on Fourth of July around 1 PM. When we first walked in there was no one at the front so we just stood around for a bit before we took our seats. When someone finally stopped by, they gave us a choice of where we would want to sit and we chose one of the large booths up front. The booths themselves were large and spacious with comfortable cushioning on the seats. The only thing was the table was a bit dirty when we sat down. Service itself was a bit hit or miss. We got our menus, water and food pretty quickly but everything else was a bit on the slower side. We never had anyone check in on us nor did we get Utensils (except for one spoon when we got our appetizer). We had to ask for utensils after we already had one dish on the table which is pretty surprising since most places give you utensils right away. For food we decided to share: -FRIED VIETNAMESE SPRING ROLLS: The spring rolls were my favorite item that we ordered. They were nice, hot and flavorful. The fish sauce on the side was also a great compliment. We did also end up getting 5 spring rolls instead of just the normal 4 which was a nice surprise. -BANH MI: The flavor was good. There was a great assortment of meat in the banh mi but they were all pretty salty. I also wish there was more pate, since the amount was pretty sparse. I ate part of a half sandwich is I did not taste any pate. -PORK CHOP RICE: The rice was quite disappointing. It was not fragrant at all and a bit too moist and sticky. The pork chop on the side was also not great. Such a small piece of meat and overly salty. I am also used to have lemongrass pork chops and they did not use that flavor profile at all. The pickled daikon and carrots on the side were good though. Portion of everything was very small. All in all, a bit of a hit or miss Asian Fusion restaurant. However, I am happy that they were open on a National Holiday!
AMAZINGGG!! The food was made with so much amazing flavors!! Absolutely delicious. This restaurant has a very nice ambiance with a garden atmosphere in the back! The staff here were very welcoming and attentive! Great spot!
Delicious Vietnamese food and decent sushi! Beautiful interior that was relaxing. We sat in the back of the restaurant and it was super relaxing. Stopped by around 12:30pm on a Saturday on our way to do some light shopping. We were getting little hungry and originally were going to stop at another place to grab light brunch. I saw this on google maps and decided to "walk" by and then decided to eat here instead. The interior was very pretty! Staff was very kind and easy going. We walked through the restaurant and sat in the back booth area. We ordered 2 Vietnamese ice coffees, original bahn mi, sashimi special roll, and Bun Bo hue. The Vietnamese coffee is freshly brewed and is just the way I like it! So good. Strong sweet and creamy. The bahn mi had great flavor and bread was crispy yet soft and fluffy. The bun bo hue was the star of our meal. Broth was so good and contained good amount of beef and ox tail. It's been awhile since I found a clean and tasty bun bo hue. Sashimi special roll was refreshing and paired well as an appetizer since it had no rice. Overall I highly recommend the Vietnamese food and decent sushi. Great if people are craving different things. They also have boba teas and I will be back to try bun rieu. This is great casual lunch or dinner spot!
I ordered for delivery and the toro special roll is so good! I liked it more than the scallop rolls. I didn't like the crunchy scallop roll so much because it had a lot of filler. I also ordered the bun bo hue and it tasted like a good spicy beef soup but not the traditional BBH that I was looking for. Would come back to try other items or for this toro roll though if I'm ever craving some fatty fish!
Came here to have dinner on a Monday night and it was very easy to get a table for two. It's a beautiful space and what's cool is there's a button to call for service at the table. They have a partnership with mama pho on Grand Street, which is a 24 hour Vietnamese, casual takeout dining spot that I recall is very delicious. However, this brisket & ribeye pho was not flavorful. The broth was pretty bland even after adding Sriracha and hoisin. they have a very extensive Japanese menu with sushi and Ramen. the service was great and they didn't rush us to leave however it was not a busy evening so maybe that's why. Might consider returning to try the Japanese side of the menu.
Stumbled into this place after a meeting nearby, and wanted some hot soup for lunch. The back end of the resto has an amazing enclosed spacious, sunny and tranquil garden dining area. Def a must try and enjoy the garden dining. Ordered beef pho and shrimp summer roll. Their summer roll does not have noodles but more veggie focused. Pho broth was rich, slightly salty, but good. I would def come back and dine here next time I'm around.
The food at Bedford Gardens was good, as was the service. I didn't find the noodle soups (bun rieu and bun bo hue) to be much better than other local options. The space is very nice though and was able to walk in with no reservation during the week for dinner.
Was starving after spending the day at the Bathhouse and just randomly walked by Bedford Gardens. We were a party of 4 and were seated in the back which was very nicely decorated with bamboos and awnings which gave you an outdoor but indoor vibe. The service was attentive and nice. It also helps that they have a bell system on each table so you can just ring then when you need service. I ordered the bun rieu with beef balls and a side of spring rolls. The food came out pretty quickly and was very satisfying. The rest of my party also enjoyed their meal. The only thing keeping me from giving these guys 5 stars is that there seemed to be an off putting smell coming from the front of the restaurant. It almost smelled like stagnant water. The back area did not have the same smell. The place isn't bad, overall.

Finding Vietnamese and Japanese food on one menu when the cuisines are so different and countries so far apart is giving those spots you see in the suburbs claiming to serve "Asian food" and so I eyed Bedford Gardens with some suspicion and dismissed it entirely. But a friend who's taste I trust somewhat recommended it and when I learned they also have strong wifi I decided to bring my laptop and make a lunch stop here. The wifi was quite strong, which is more than I can say about most coffee shops, and there were tables galore available. I got two orders of their two roll lunch special, so I got to try 4 rolls-- spicy scallop, spicy tuna, yellowtail, and salmon. The fish was quite fresh, all rolls were well made, and the price can't be beat. I tried the Vietnamese coffee as well, which was nice and strong and the condensed milk made it absolutely delicious. I feel like I need to try their Vietnamese food as well to give a more thorough assessment of the place but everything I had so far was pretty solid, and it's also cute inside. read more

Excellent sushi rolls, seaweed, salad and service. Fish was very fresh and the rice was perfect. I'm very picky about sushi and I will be coming back to try more rolls. The place has an indoor dining garden in the back which was unique. read more
I hope this place doesn't get packed But guys I've literally been searching for a place that has DECENT pho all over nyc and I've been disappointed again and again and again by so many places THIS place is insane and actually pretty good Yes I haven't been to Vietnam but I have lived in California for over 10 years and my greatest pain in nyc was not having a good pho restaurant And having all these east coasters telling me some place was good and watching them eat pho that was at best worse than the worst pho I had in California and I just had to cringe and tell them ...yeah as I suffered inside Those days are f*cking over Idk how things may or may not change here but at least as of today the ribeye brisket pho here was kind of a banger - former 6 year Yelp elite who got tired of writing reviews but coming back because this was life changing for east coast to actually have a spot like this read more

It's a very pretty venue with friendly service. The food portions are on the smaller side but it's nice to see some traditional vietnamese dishes that you don't normally see in nyc such as bun rieu, banh xeo and bun bo hue. read more

The ambiance in the back patio of the restaurant is a beautiful, dimly lit, tropical oasis. I liked the process of ordering food, by pressing a button on the table once we were done going through the menu. My friend loved the pho and I enjoyed the shrimp tempura roll and stir fried noodles. read more
The most delicious Short Rib & Brisket Pho! The short rib was fall off the bone and the ambience of the restaurant was amazing! It was truly a garden feel (as the name suggests) in the back of the restaurant. I will be back. read more
The fish here is quite good as far as sushi goes. They had really nice toros and the quality of the cuts was solid. The staff are friendly. 4 stars is really based on value. Even though it's an expensive area to have a restaurant, I do think for what was ordered the cost was high. I think there is probably better value at other places for sushi. Though, I would like to return and try some of the other menu items. read more

Sucha lovely restaurant with wooden panels/framing and plants (how green!). The service was quick and convenient using a button to call the waiter/waitress and the food/drinks came out in 10-15 minutes. We loved our Pho choices (broth was soothing and flavorful) and the summer rolls were delicious with fresh ingredients! IMO, lychee sunrise was def better than longan sundown. Walk-ins welcomed since you can't make reservations online. If you go around 1 PM on a weekend, it wasn't packed so you should be able to grab a table with no issues. read more
Very cute vibes as well as back area that is filled with lots of plants like you're in some sort of forest. Service was great, you have to click a button and a server will come by. I didn't like the shrimp summer rolls too much, particularly because of the peanut sauce which was more liquid than thick so it wasn't really a good sauce and kept running. The pho was decent, I think ribeye was cut too thick and could be smaller portions. My friend had the chicken with rice which was probably more flavorful. read more
When we first started visiting a few years ago, this place was styled more as a "food hall" with a few different restaurants serving food, though we always ordered Vietnamese food anyway every time - we popped in this weekend and noticed the far back section that used to be a sushi bar has been replaced with some lovely seating arrangements, and the front area has been built out with these lovely wooden roofs. It makes the place feel so lovely and comforting. We had our yummy chicken banh mi, along with some veg gyoza which were both delicious, as usual! Solid drink options - alcoholic and non-alcoholic. What makes this place extra great also are the kind servers and their attention to detail, as well as the beautiful setting of the restaurant itself and their backyard. I hesitate to even review this place and share ut because it is so tranquil and peaceful while we are there and I don't want it overrun with people. Lol. But this place deserves all the business they can get! So here is my review. They are a hidden gem on Bedford Ave. read more

I loved their chicken pho with zucchini noodles!! It was so homey and delicious. I felt healthier eating it . I enjoyed the ambience and the decor. I will return for sure! Thank you for great food and service. read more
I was the most excited for the momos here but it was a little lackluster compared to the ones I've had in HK. Still acceptable though. I highly recommend getting the sampler to try a bit of everything. The crab roll was not bad but a little cold. The chicken wings were probably the best item we tried. Grilled cheese was alright. I tried Bedford Gardens for the first time tonight & WOW - this place has everything & it's all equally delicious. I ordered online & was able to order a couple of dishes from the different restaurants they have onsite. I really liked my rolls & sashimi from sushi basho - the fish was really fresh and the rice was perfectly cooked. This is definitely going to be my new go to spot for sushi. I also ordered the air fried wings from Saigon Boil, coated in their Saigon butter - these were perfectly crisp and the garlicky sauce was great. I wasn't expecting this place to be so good cause I walked in a it was empty. But when I say this is the best place believe me. The sushi was so good. The boba was a bit sweet but still flavorful. I went with my parents and my dad got a hot dog looking thing. (Brioche Spicy Tuna Roll) that was so good all the favors I wish I got one next time. This place has a garden that's where we sat so pretty and quiet. I send around 6ish and it was so beautiful. A lot of seating beautiful inside and outside. They had this bell thing it didn't make noice but it tells the waiter when you're ready to order or if you need help. Very satisfying lol. The staff were pretty nice too. Fast service which is always nice to have. Definitely will come back! read more

What a delight This place is interesting because it is set up like a "food hall" but it is sit down service. You are handed a menu with the ability to order from the different kitchens. The Pork ramen was normal ramen - nothing spectacular but it was still good because it's ramen. The soup dumplings are delicious. We chose to get the sampler ($16) and it was nice to taste them all and get an idea of which ones we would order next time (beef and chicken ftw). I don't eat seafood but my bf got the scallop special roll, spicy tuna and yellowtail. He said the spicy tuna was some of the best he has ever had. The service was great and we will def go back. Was passing by the neighborhood and was really craving some Vietnamese food so we just walked in. This place looks like a small shop from the outside but the inside is very nice. Cozy seating, calm lights and just a nice place. The service is quick and courteous. We had the crab mango roll which was light and yummy. I had the ribeye and shrimp pho. It was so flavorful, the right blend of spices and not over full of noodles. That broth is everything. My mom had the vegetable broth which was very delicious as well. Paired with passion fruit tea with passion jelly and overall was a great lunch. read more
