The rice was just so so. I ordered a Dr Pepper and the first one was not good. The syrup ratio was off. Waiter made the correction and didn't charge us for the drink. He was very attentive. Other people in the party ordered fried spring rolls that they said were greasy and didn't have enough veggies. They did like the crab Rangoon though. I had a very disappointing experience at Wasabi Restaurant. When we arrived, there were only four tables occupied, yet it took about 10 minutes for our server to even acknowledge us and over 15 minutes just to get water. After finally placing our order (four drinks, an appetizer, and four entrées that include soup or salad), we waited another 25+ minutes before receiving drinks and water. When I asked if the meals came with salad, the server responded, "I believe so," which didn't inspire much confidence. We chose salad, which came out fairly quickly--but our appetizer was still nowhere to be found. To make matters worse, our sushi entrées arrived before the appetizer, completely out of order. We noticed other tables who arrived after us receiving their appetizers (like potstickers and calamari) well before we did. It ultimately took over 45 minutes to get our appetizer--by that point, we were nearly finished with our meals. Overall, the service was extremely slow, disorganized, and inattentive. Based on this experience, I would not recommend Wasabi if you expect to receive drinks and appetizers before finishing your main course. read more

Such a great find tonight in downtown Fayetteville. Cool vibe to the area and this sushi joint did not disappoint. What a gorgeous and decadent tower of spicy tuna and crab on a bed of rice, piled high with a spring mix and an assortment of tobiko and avocado. If I could give them 0 stars I would. I came here on a very slow day only one other table was there. We were a group of four service was fine not great but could've been worse. We all ordered a bento box and water. We ALL got food poisoning for two days straight... from both ends if you know what I mean. Right after we payed the bill and left we all got this sunken feeling in our stomachs and had to rush home to use the restroom. We were not together at all during the past days, just met up for a lunch. It was awful and I cannot believe the cleanliness of the restaurant as well. The table was sticky, the bar was sticky, the restroom was absolutely trashed. DISGUSTING. There was a layer of grime on everything behind the bar. The menus even had a layer of filth on them. There were flies everywhere and a few landed on me in the 3 minutes I was sitting there. I really have mixed feelings about this place... My baby girl wanted sushi and suggested this place. It is kind of a college kid sushi restaurant/sports bar/could be up scale place but it really is caught in the middle. Baby girl had the Sam's roll which comes out on fire which is kinda cool but kind of gimmicky - the fire is not finishing the cooking process or anything like that. The Sam's roll was good but not great. I had the habatchi steak which was really good the veggies were cooked just right. The fried rice was good. the salad was ok. The main part if the restaurant is really nice. The bathrooms are super sketchy. Wait staff was ok not upscale service. The cleaning around the restaurant was not good ( the sides of our table were super sticky) so this is where my mixed feelings come from... We owned a bar and and fine dining restaurant for years so don't get rude dude. Anyway when we moved to our table he also waited on us. When I went to the restroom it was filthy, graffiti everywhere, no paper towels, smelled like... ya know? The service experience was dive bar quality. The sushi rolls were good, but not great. I've been to Wasabi a couple times in the past couple years and wasn't super impressed to be honest, but after a long day I thought why not, as all the other go to sushi spots in town were closed. I decided to sit down at the bar and have a drink and decided to start with a squid salad and some escolar sashimi but I was torn on a roll to get. My server, Cannon recommended me the Spicy Crunch roll based on what I liked and I loved it! Amazing food and our go-to place for sushi and their Tofu Dol-Sot-Bop. On a cold day, the Dol-Sot-Bop is the perfect warm amazingness of rice loaded with veggies/tofu and mixed with a spicy sauce. Their Crab Rangoons are also great, it comes with 6 pieces with lots of filling. The atmosphere is okay. It's a shared space with some nightclubs that are behind the restaurant so the bathroom area REEKS of cigarettes and is not very clean. Wasabi has been this COLLEGE town staple's sushi restaurant for more than a decade and my go-to on many occasions. I emphasize college because it does impact the ambiance of the restaurant if you're wanting more of the "low light smooth jazz high class" experience. However, it's never impacted the quality of food or drink that I've personally devoured there over many years, and honestly I can't even think of a high quality & high class sushi place in Northwest Arkansas. Wasabi is in a beautiful historic building with a fantastic patio, right on the main college bar strip. In fact they do share the building, and therefor bathrooms, with one of the last smoking allowed inside bars on Dickson street. On a busy night with not a lot of air flow, I'm sure the smell seeps into the shared hallway of bathrooms. Wasabi is almost always busy and staffs many kids through their college experience; so you very well might get a kid who's not gotten any sleep, taking tests all day, and is working their first serving gig. Again, it's literally half a mile from campus and it's not advertised as a high class experience. I've found that the pricing is standard for sushi, etc. and the serving sizes have always been quite generous. I've had to send a wrong order back one time, about 5 years ago, and it was remade immediately. Their lunch specials and happy hours are fantastic...so much so they do occasionally run out of certain spirits if wind if a great drink for cheap makes its way to campus. All to say - you could multiply this 5 star review 50 times and that might begin to cover the amount of great meals I've had at Wasabi, including one tonight. We use to love coming here but really had a pretty bad experience last night. First of all the bartender was just rude. Really had a bad attitude when we asked a few questions regarding the tap beer. We felt like we were bothering him. I order a peach martini. Not even served cold when I got it and cloying sweet. Not good! Also bar was literally sticky and so dirty as were floors. My sandals were sticking to the floors when walking in. Never a good sign. Bathroom was absolutely disgustingly filthy. No soap no paper towels. Gross! Sushi menu is very heavy on Salmon selections which my family doesn't care for. It's also really expensive so you are expecting upscale rolls and service. Food is mediocre! Server also was the snarky bartender so that sucked. I'm mostly mad because we took our kids out for a nice dinner we spent $140.00 and the place was filthy dirty the service was rude and the prices were high. It's nice having a Japanese restaurant on Dickson. They have a fair selection on the menu and there is a good sushi menu. The prices don't quite suit the quality but there isn't much competition on Dickson for sushi. They have a nice patio area for enjoying nice weather. The appetizers were great, the gyoza's, eggrolls, edamame and the spring rolls were excellent. They each came with a dipping sauce and up until then, I enjoyed myself. For my entree, I ordered the Dragon roll and the salmon nigiri, both of which were just ok, I had to take off the eel because it was unedabIe. But the salmon was so so. My friend ordered the Dol-Sot-Bop which came in a hot stone bowl on a wooden platter. The wood smoked on our table for a good 2-3 min and had an obvious odor of something burning. The dish has rice and the bowl being hot is suppose to make the rice crispy, but the bowl was so hot that the rice was immediately burnt. The restaurant is nice, however going into the men's bathroom made me question the quality of the food right off the bat. Nothing like a disgusting bathroom to spoil an appetite. Secondly, when we got our food, the AC vent was dripping on my friend and on her plate. Also doesn't help the appetite. With limited options I suppose you pick your battles, but with so much good food around, I left disappointed. read more

I randomly found myself on a day trip to Fayetteville with my boyfriend, and I am hoping this was just an anomaly situation given it was the Arkansas vs. LSU weekend. Because of that, I think it is only fair to break out the review into parts: 2.5 for service and 4 for food. The wait for two people on this particular Friday night was well over 45 minutes. Jonas and I waited at the bar and got drinks to pass the time, but I could not believe how busy it was. Once we were finally seated, we quickly made our decision so we could get our orders in and hopefully get the food before dawn. Our rolls, in order from favorite to least favorite were: Elvis, Razorback and Oh Baby. The Oh Baby was mediocre at best in my opinion, but the Elvis roll more than made up for it.
