I found you. I went Kai sushi which closed often. Found out a lot of staff came here and brought the same menu items. Ordered what I normally do and it was awesome. Great staff. Awesome sushi. Cool spot. Conveniently located. Go try them out. I believe they rival goros BIG TIME.

We haven't been here for couple of years, but the quality and taste are still great. The old owner Alex has past away, but the the new owner continues the same traditional foods. We always sit at the bar to talk to the sushi chefs and see what is fresh. The feel of the location has been low key, with many open spots. Could be the unseasonable cold temp of 27F.

Best sushi ! Sat at the bar and Mike the chef is amazing just watching him create his sushi dishes ! I've been following him since his days at Goros over 17 years ago and will continue. Great sushi, atmosphere, and location is super convenient right off highway.

I came back to try this place out again and was very impressed with the food and service. The only issue is there is a stench in the restaurant l I think it's coming from the bathrooms. Other than that, everything else was great.

Came for a birthday dinner. Our server brought so much energy to the table. They even took sake bombs with us. With a big party they were attentive and only missed a few items at first. They were very nice to give us everything we needed to cut and serve our cake.

Wife and I wanted a relaxed meal after a busy weekend, so we headed to Wasabi! We'd been before and really liked their yellowtail sashimi. The music was audible, but not overbearing. The atmosphere was calm which we greatly appreciated. We were sat in a booth, given waters, miso soup, and salad to start. I also ordered a Kirin Ichiban beer. They brought it out cold and with a cold glass. Wonderfully crisp taste. Our server was nice and ready to answer any questions we might have. The miso soup met expectations. I've definitely had miso that has felt watered down before and that was not the case here. The lettuce in the salad was crisp. We ordered the spicy rainbow roll and crazy salmon roll. You really can't go wrong with rainbow roll and my wife was willing to indulge me and my love for spicy. The rainbow roll is always so fresh and the variety of fish keeps it interesting. The spice was manageable so I of course mixed wasabi and soy sauce for just a hint of sinus clearing tingle at my nostrils. The crazy salmon roll was also delicious! My wife loves a good crunchy roll and both rolls met that goal. Wasabi has become one of our favorite SA sushi spots and we definitely recommend it to our friends and family. Cheers!

Not one to leave reviews but I door dashed my food and this is what's sent to me. Like seriously wtf is this quality? Even the pieces that don't look like that are still insanely chewy and doesn't taste fresh whatsoever. If this is the quality that's good to send out then I dont even know how you guys are still in business. Never eating here again and there goes my dinner into the trash.

Great happy hour! Weekdays 4-7 pm. Their sushi was good too! We got the Ikura sushi, salmon sushi, Shibuya roll, yellow tail roll. The fish was fresh! Plus edamame (plain and spicy/garlic). I think next time I'll just get the plain edamame and the garlic one, the spicy was a little too spicy. The jalapeño bombs were great also but insanely spicy for me. Good, friendly service. It wasn't busy on a Tuesday at 5:30/6 pm. Not sure what it's like on the weekends. Will be back!

I would not recommend wasabi, and definitely think there are better options for sushi. I ordered a shrimp tempura roll and was severely disappointed it came wrapped in soy paper which was not specified on the menu. That being said, there was an excessive amount of rice for the roll. The fish quality itself is okay but I don't think I would come back.

Came to check it out since it under new management! It is the crew from Kai, so no disappointment with food or service! Delicious and fresh as always!

Spacious and diverse restaurant with great service and food! Our server was very kind and patient! Their happy hour has some great deals, and the regular sashimi prices are great!! They have sushi, korean, and chinese inspired dishes. Lots of indoor seating, ranging from bar to booth to tables! The mussels appetizer was one of my favorites- although it is very rich and filling. The salmon sashimi was incredibly fresh and thick! The salmon roll was great too. My favorite roll was the salmon avocado- they gave generous portions of both! Would highly recommend this restaurant, especially for their happy hour. Anothet plus is that they have complimentary soup and salad when you dine in!

Great service the waitress was super nice and friendly. Made to make sure ask if we had any questions about the menu. The inside was nice and clean. No one was really there so it felt like we had the place to ourselves. I got the sushi which is why I really came. I wanted to try a new spot. The sushi was fresh and tasted great. They don't use a lot of rice which is nice. I got a good amount of sushi and wasn't overly full. I will definitely be coming back.

Spurs Roll 5/5 hit the spot, exact what I wanted. Crispy and creamy with a little kick of spice.

However, you need to make a reservation, if you plan on coming for a Friday night dinner though. The restaurant and parking lot is usually packed and for good reason. It's been 25 years since we walked the streets of Tokyo, but the freshness here brings me back to those days. I'm sure you will agree that not only will you get amazing service, but will also get to experience one of the premier sushi places in town. It's great for meeting with friends, as the staff will not rush you at all. For tonight's adventure, we ordered a variety of delicious items to share among the other couple, family style. The Spicy Edamame is a good starter. It's tasty and light enough to get the taste buds fired up for what was about to come next. Since the sushi chef was backed up a bit, having the Pan Roasted Airline Chicken arrive early was a fantastic way to take flight. With its mouth watering chicken, noodles and veggies, it's a must. If you want to increase the heat somewhat, dip the chicken into some wasabi and soy sauce. When the rolls finally started picking and rolling in, The Duncan Roll, was money as is Timmy's bank shot off the glass. The Blue Tuna roll left me anyways but blue and was one of my favorites. The grilled octopus was so good, that it made me second guess if Ursula was indeed, a bad witch. Overall, the choice selections are very wide, and you literally can't miss on any of them. If you are overwhelmed trying to choose, then ask the waiter to help guide your selections. Hope you enjoy the experience as much as we did and till next time, Mata ne!

We ordered the rock 'n' roll sushi roll, several à la carte tempura items, grilled tenderloin yakitori, and banana eggroll for dessert. The rock 'n' roll sushi roll was absolutely delicious. I do caution you when you order the tempura à la carte items that they are very large portions. But the tempura is crispy and well cooked. The grilled tenderloin yakitori was also a hit. Even though we were absolutely stuffed, the waiter recommended the banana eggroll for dessert so of course we had to try it. The banana eggroll was decent, but the ice cream stole the show. The server told us it was a banana walnut ice cream, and it was truly delicious.

Fast forward almost 3 yrs later and we have found some true sushi gems here. At the top of my list now is Godai after our first visit last night. I saw a post by a local SATX Foodie and even then I had no expectations despite the raving reviews, I always like to try a restaurant and decide for myself. Right when you walk in you're greeted in Japanese which I've always loved because it makes me feel welcome. The aesthetic of the restaurant is very authentic japanese; minimalist with unique touches and details like the hanging round lanterns in the center of the main dining area. The main attraction however, that you can't miss as soon as you walk in is the chef "Korean Cowboy" as he calls himself, working his magic all by himself, carefully and diligently crafting beautiful and delicious sushi. Our server was very nice and attentive. She informed us that it was happy hour and certain drinks and appetizers were half off. We started out order right away. For our appetizers we ordered spicy edamame which was the most unique version I've tried thus far. It had 2 orange slices in the center for flavor and garnish as a chili powder that blended the tangy and spicy flavors and paired perfectly. I loved both the presentation and the taste. We also ordered shishito peppers which were just as tasty. A highlight for me (recently) has been Hamachi Kama (yellowtail collar) I believe it's an uncommon item to order and highly underrated. I learned about it from my husband and anytime we see it on a menu we order it. It was perfectly seasoned and cooked. Next, we ordered our rolls and nigiri. The rolls we ordered were: the sunny roll and the cherry blossom roll. Both were absolutely delicious. You can instantly taste the quality of fish and experience in the craft of sushi when you've eaten enough sushi in your life. My husband is without a doubt a sushi connoisseur, or the "sushi sensei" as I like to call him. So when we agree on loving a restaurant I know we've discovered a new gem! Our entire order was delightful however, for me, what sets restaurants apart is the ones with the best service and quality of food alike. The chef, "Korean Cowboy" came to our table and said he included some Saba (Mackerel) on the house, he was proud of his craft and said he'd like our opinion. To be honest, I had not had Saba in years because in the past it was very very fishy and I did not enjoy it. This Saba was phenomenal (I'm not getting paid to say this) lol. Chef KC explained to us that Saba has to be "dressed" well in order to taste good. It wasn't good, it was GREAT! It was smoky, soft and melted in my mouth dressed perfectly indeed. I think it's safe to say this is by far my new favorite sushi restaurant and my husband concurs. We will definitely be regulars here for as long as we live in TX! Just fyi, they also offer Omakase as well as many other options like Ramen and Korean dishes. Can't wait to taste and experience it all! Enjoy! SYOY!

But my son, bless his heart, wasn't exposed to Officer Whats-his-face explaining to a class of fifth graders how deviously addictive substances like heroin, crack, and hot pot can be. So my kid has had a habit for about three or four years now. Chinese hot-pot barely tempts me these days; I don't need a numb mouth like that. Mongolian...that level of sodium was fine in my twenties, I guess. Shabu proper - served with ponzu and sesame sauce by some fella wearing a headband starts to get tempting. But I'm doing well this year, I've only flown to LA's Japantown for my fix once. And honestly, this is not that anyway. Most of these restaurants, where they expect me to boil my own dinner, are pretty easy to wean off of. I mean, seriously, how lazy can a restaurant owner be. Here's some raw meat, cook it yourself, folks? Unfortunately, Wild Japanese's offering is more akin to the most delicious of the hot pots. Singaporean or Malaysian style, with a gigantic assortment of sauces and a flavorful selection of broths, and the best soup you've ever had waiting for you at the end of your meal. And I hope that helps explain why when we go two weeks without a visit, my son starts to get really antsy and sees bugs crawling under his skin, just like Officer What's-His-Face said he would. I think originally you could get just not-shabu; nowadays, they make you pair the hot pot with some inferior food. We've tried the sushi a few times. That was a huge mistake. The Korean BBQ pairs well, it's just a lot of effort, and not a lot of soup, so we grill a token steak or two but otherwise stick to not-shabu. Anyway, that's a short entomology of hot pots throughout the world, excluding fondue, according to my tummy. I could probably stop anytime if I really wanted. Eating this delicious not-shabu. But for my son's sake, I go.
