I only visited Washburn Imports once, but the place stuck with me. The owner was incredibly cool and easy to talk to, and you could tell right away that he handpicks everything himself. The furniture didn't feel random or thrown together. Each piece looked like it had its own personality. There was a carved cabinet that felt almost regal, a chunky table that seemed like it could survive anything, and these little decorative pieces that looked like they'd been collected with intention, not just ordered out of a catalog. You get the sense that the inventory has traveled more than most people. The bar in the back wasn't open when I stopped by because I was there earlier in the day, but he explained the schedule. The Imperial Bar opens Wednesday through Sunday in the evenings, usually starting around 5 pm. So daytime has this calm, treasure-hunt vibe, and nighttime turns the place into a cozy little hangout tucked inside a furniture store. It's one of those spots where one visit makes you feel like you stumbled onto something special. read more

Extremely friendly bartender, & extremely fun to walk around & look at the furniture for sale. It's all for sale. I really liked the hanging lights & armoires. Lots of tables & chests of drawers for storage for sale. I went twice that night. The super friendly bartender was nice, quickly giving me water & a beer sample. They have great choices. Later I tried their hummus with pita bread. What made it extra delicious was that the Kalamata olives were warmed up. Briny goodness wasn't appreciated as much by me as when I tried them warmed up there. It really makes a difference. There was live entertainment playing music & a large fun crowd. AKA Imperial Wine Bar. Such a wonderful find in the Lake Ivanhoe area. Someone brought me here a year ago. Now I go in as often as possible with friends and still love the experience. Consistently courteous staff and well chosen wine / beers available. A unique spot that is antique and eclectic furniture store masquerading as a wine n beer bar. How amazing is that!?! Oh and there's a great patio at the Orange Ave location. Five minutes from downtown and about 40 minutes from Disney. Happy hour has $5 glasses of wine and beer specials too. If you're closer to the east side, there's one in Sanford too. I've only been to that location once. But, again a wonderful experience. read more

I've completely furnished my imaginary dream home in pieces from Washburn on many occasions, but this time was different. This time I had a real home. And a big girl budget. And mama was ready to shop. And by that I mean ready to buy one piece because big girl money only goes so far. First thing I'd suggest is following them on Instagram. That's where I found out they were honoring the pre-Memorial Day Sale prices a couple of days early (if you mentioned the post). It was brilliant. Everything 20-70% off. When I walked in, Paul introduced himself after a few minutes of browsing. He was incredibly informative and made sure to stick close by in case we needed assistance. And most of that assistance came in the form of a price check. Since the sale hasn't "officially" started yet, he brought around a calculator to figure out the discount. And then I found her. The table I was born to own. She had been there a while, so the markdown was good. Paul helped me set up a scheduled pickup for the weekend and was a real pleasure to talk to. He often goes to India to source the furniture and seems to recognize each one. Overall it's a great place to buy a statement piece. And grab a wine in the bar attached. read more

This is the type of place you must take your time to appreciate all the artistry and workmanship. One of my girlfriends mentioned that they we're having a "sidewalk sale," and since I've been on he hunt for a linen cabinet for my bathroom for a few months, I decided to join her checking it out. What a cool place! I've passed by it before but never stopped in as I'm not usually into antiques or that time of furniture. I like the looks but I'm more of a modern style kind of person. Walking in was like a sensory overload! There were so many cool decorative pieces and furniture items, I didn't know where to look first. I wanted one of everything and wanted to redecorate every room in my house! Haha! My friend bought a supercool cabinet - it had drawers, cabinet space and open areas and had a distressed wood turquoise finish. John, the owner, gave her a great deal on it! I ended up finding my linen cabinet at 50% off and then found the most beautiful mirror I've ever seen and splurged on this item. It is 7 - 8 feet long, about 3 feet wide, and weighs aprox. 85 lbs. it is made out of Teak wood from Bali and I'm going to have it mounted on a wall in my family room. It was very expensive, but John gave me 30% off (even though it was new and not a sale item) so I couldn't pass it up. At the end, I asked if there was anything more he could do on the price and he knocked another $50 off the total price. I'm so happy with the pieces I got, John and everyone on his staff was awesome, and I'll definitely be back! read more

I have never seen how movie set designers shop for the set furniture or how they get the inspiration to put together such a great layout but walking into this place, I figured this would be a stop in my book if I was a set designer. Everything in here is GORGEOUS! The detail and the restoration is phenom! They have this huge pieces that you just have to stand back and admire. The colors in this place are phenom, the green, the blue, the orange... just gorgeous. My favorite piece, if I had to pick one cause I had about 5, was the ginormous bed that just took my breath away. I had to take a pic in it. I wanted it SO bad to put in my new porch but it was $4,000. Not so much in my budget. There were amazing dining tables, tall and regular size, circle, square, HUGE, I was drooling. Yes, drooling. I wish I had money to pour into decorating a house with character! There is also a new bar in the middle of this amazing furniture mecca called The Imperial Wine Bar and Beer Garden. We didn't grab a drink but walked through and it's gorgeous! I will have to check this place out one night, for sure! Everyone that works there is very friendly and nice. This Ivanhoe Row store doesn't sell typical furniture or home décor pieces. Each item they carry appears to have a story to tell. Mostly wooden, their tables, dressers, cabinets and chairs seem to have excellent craftsmanship and a hefty price tag to match. As most furniture dealers do in that area, Washburn has certain pieces on display outside of the store in an effort to tempt their customers. Gorgeous bar stools, hand-woven chairs and unique tables happened to be there when I was a visitor and caught my attention. The bar stools were the first items I really took a gander at which meant I checked the price: $395....for just one. Once inside their show room I marveled at the ruby red ceiling and magnificent chandelier with red accents. I overheard to other customers speaking to the owner. They remarked that they were most impressed with the store's setup and how it felt like someone's home. The owner then stated that he and his wife spent a great deal of time making sure that's the atmosphere their customers felt. It's not overly crowded since each piece could be the focal point of any room. For instance, I admired a very large bust of what I learned was a Bali Stone Buddha. The price? A cool $695. But if you were a follower of this religion or just a fan, this sculpture might be priceless. Overall, I really loved what they had to offer since it's not what you'd find at Pier 1 or Rooms 2 Go. read more

There seems to be a lot of "wow" in my fellow yelpers reviews of this place...and there is good reason for that! This place, WOW!! Driving by and on a whim, in search of an old fashioned coat rack, I whipped in here not expecting much...pleasantly surprised came as soon as I walked in the doors! You walk in and are immediately greeted by b-e-a-utiful, grandiose and intricate pieces of furniture of all sizes from all over the world. I was ready to go purchase a house just so I could furnish it with items from this place! The prices were on the high end, but from the looks of it...the pieces were well worth the extra cost. Most pieces we inquired into had some sense of a story, which made it more fun to furniture shop (a rarity as you most know!) The store is 3 sections deep, so you walk through to the middle section and are drawn to the Imperial Bar that sits smack dab in the middle of the furniture store...yes, right in the middle of this place...again, WOW! They are open 6 days a week starting at 5pm and serve craft beer, wine and charcuterie of different varieties. The bar only seats about 6 inside, but the next amazing part is the beer garden they have outside for bar usage...it looks like it would be an amazing time at night. Overall, this place is great on all levels. The service from the staff was impeccable and the product speaks for itself...and its speaks loudly!! The kind of stuff you find in here is not what you would find in your average, everyday type of furniture or home decor store. As the name states, most of their stuff is imported from Asia and Europe. The furniture and decor items change out frequently and there are always unique, fun items . The owner and store attendants are all very helpful in finding something to match your wants and needs. The prices are not too bad, depending on what you choose to buy of course. I love strolling into Washburn Imports when walking around Ivanhoe Village. Many of the items are out of my price range, but I like walking around the different rooms filled with beautiful furniture and antiques. Many (if not all) of the pieces are from India and Southeast Asia and are very nice. The inside of the shop almost makes you feel like you're walking around a furniture shop in one of these countries. The staff has always been very friendly. Happy to help if you're looking for something in particular, but they also know many people just stop on to browse. Stop by the Imperial if you're there after5 to browse the shop with wine in hand. The ONLY reason I can't give this place 5 stars is because I can't afford a single thing in there. But that doesn't mean I don't WANT everything in there! Beautiful imported furniture (mostly from Asia, I believe)... I seriously would fill my house with this stuff. When I first checked out Washburn Import I fell in love with every piece of furniture but the prices kept me from buying anything. Then, before I moved away from Orlando I bought just one piece - a beautiful buffet/sofa table from Thailand that is honestly the nicest piece of furniture I own. Since then I have traveled to several Asian countries where I often fall in love with furniture at cheaper prices. The problem? It costs thousands of dollars to ship it home (if you can even manage to do it). I finally realized that the prices at Washburn Import are a bargain when you consider the expense of travel, finding these amazing pieces and then arranging the huge shipping container on a cargo ship to get them home. If you're within a drive from Washburn Import - check it and and definately take something home. It's impossible to get this stuff from the countries of origin on your own. read more

You know what antique shops generally need and never have? A bar. I really dig this spot for a low key drink and some fun shopping. I haven't bought anything from the store....yet. And.. come to think of it, I was there during a World Cup game and the bar was anything but low-key! Definitely not your average sports bar though. I would love it more if they had a full liquor license, then again, I'd probably get tipsy enough to max out my credit card there if they did. So probably good they don't. Omgoooooodness this place is so amazing. I stumbled here by accident from checking out all the antique stores on Orange. Each piece I saw I couldn't help but "ooooh" & and "aaaah" while touching everything. Yes, the price tags were a tad hefty. in the $300 and up range. But you'd be getting a quality piece of furniture that is unique and priceless in its own right. And if it got beat or banged up, it would just add to the character of the piece. Definitely not your Walmart out-of-the-box particle wood desk. So many colors and textures, shapes and sizes. I enjoyed taking it all in. I am extremely happy with my first experience at Washburn. I would recommend it for people interested in one-of-a-kind, eclectic, upcycled, imported, reclaimed furniture, etc. The layout and amount of items are slightly overwhelming for a first-timer, but thats part of the appeal for people on the hunt for unique items. I spent about 3 hours on my first trip today, but could have explored a lot more. I've had bad experiences in the past with overly aggressive/pushy salespeople that swarm around you as soon as you enter the store and subject you to their obvious sales pitch while they hyperventilate and sweat drips down their forehead. Yes, I get it, they probably have kids that need braces. It's not that I want their kids to have bad teeth, I just don't like being forced into immediate buyers remorse. I never once felt pressured into buying anything today. They had one person working while I was there (Paul) and he was super patient and helpful. I bought two items and got same day delivery (I'm not sure if thats the norm...my new house is only a few blocks away from Washburn but they told me they could delivery today before they knew my address). There were a few other items that I liked but weren't in stock and I was able to pre-order those. A lot of their Facebook photos had prices on them, so I had a rough estimate of cost before going in. Overall, I would say the prices are mid-range but extremely reasonable when you consider what you're buying (high quality, not massed produced, seems to be a lot of imported, hand made stuff). If you're just starting out or on a budget, you probably won't be able to afford to buy all of your furniture from there but could get 1-2 statement items. If you're already established or want investment pieces, you should be able to find lots of stuff (I hope your kids don't need braces). My overall impression is that its a laid back place with things I don't think I could have found anywhere else, will definitely do business with again. read more
