My mom passed at about 1:15 on a Sunday, and the chapel had someone to pick her up by about 3:30. It was comforting to know that we were cared for almost immediately! Two days later we met with Scott, who listened to our every desire for mom's funeral, which was held at the Edina chapel. From picking the casket to suggesting flowers, and finding a priest, all of the people at Washburn-McReavy made everything clear and easy to follow. Mom was 91, and definitely had aged, but the makeup and hair was amazing! We thought for sure it would be a closed casket!! But she looked so good we left it open! My biggest problem with them, in particular, was with John P. White and his deceitful business practices. We arranged for a preneed contract with them 2 years prior to services being needed. Mr. White illegally tried to charge me an additional $200+ for the current inflated price of goods instead of the pre-need price of goods. I refused to pay knowing this was illegal. When I questioned him about this amount he raised his voice at me, angrily shouted at me, then threatened me saying that he has lots of lawyers that will come back to me and tell me he is right. White Funeral Home only changed my statement to a $0 balance due after I put in a claim to the Mortuary Science Section of the MN Dept of Health. The MN Dept of Health provided a lengthy and thorough investigation proving I was correct that they should not have tried to charge me additional money for the inflation costs of goods.

My parents are buried here but I went a different path with my brother and just ordered urns and a grave marker from Lakewood. When an urn came in with the wrong symbol they made it right. They are also timely in answering questions. On Memorial weekend you can even buy flowers when you drive in and they have ground urns available for use. My only complaint is how they numbered the cemetery. Have a cemetery map handy as the section numbers do not go in order. You will need it if you make a wrong turn.
