Used my card ...Wash is $3 got charged $10...who do we contact..this has happened to me 2 times

Washington Avenue Self Serve Car Wash is located on a main street going towards downtown SL. There is also another car wash going towards the other way of Washington Avenue that has the same name as well, so that gets a bit confusing. This location is always packed on weeknights and weekends, so the wait may be a bit long. I do not like feeling rushed or watched while washing my car, so I usually come in the afternoon or later in the night. I believe there are 6 wash stalls and 4 vacuums off to the side here. I believe it is $2 to wash your car for a few minutes and $1 to use the vacuum for a few minutes. Overall, the wash stalls and the vacuum area were not the cleanest, and sometimes some of the settings for the car wash or the vacuums are broken/do not work, but it works for the most part. read more

Used my card and the machine didn't work. I was charged twice and I tried to dispute and it was reported to my bank that the car wash was used when their machine didn't even turn on. Horrible. 20$ down the drain. read more

I agree with other reviews, on all equipping being very out dated/old, but never judge a book by it's cover! This place is cool. Love the car washes, they have a area to vacuum your car and also an area to dry your car after the wash. The only thing I'd say to look out for is there are 2 entrances for this place, so don't lose your place in line or let anyone try to take yours!! Because they will. Other than that issue, i've never had a problem at this location, I really like it, and will continue to come back. read more

Very cheap and easy to use 5 dollars for 15 minutes and the dryer is also 5 dollars for 10 minutes

Although this place had a great vacuum and had a nice little area to peacefully wash your car, the card reader INSTANTLY gives this place -1 stars. I was standing there for 10mins trying to put $1 or $5 and the machine would not take it. So I slide my card twice and it works perfectly. The last TWO times I slide my card, it charged me $20!! At that point I was so irritated. Mind you, it's $2.25 so why did they charge me $10 twice. Don't come here. Don't waste your money here. Or you will get scammed. read more

Convenient location. Great hours. They had vacuums and all their wash washing stalls were open for business. No problems.

OMG never ever use the card reader!!!!!! I got charged $32 bucks on my credit card!!!! I swiped my card couple times without getting any time but they still hit my card with multiple $10 charges. Zero star, not even one! read more

Price was really good also :-) & I got to stay in my car the whole time , loved that part :-) only thing I didn't like is that the place looks a lil ghetto :-/ ...... I should have read an earlier review about the credit card machine not working. I had the same experience of soaping up my car only to have to drive off without rinsing it because the credit card swiper couldn't read it after the initial swipe. In general I saw quite a few nice cars with people washing them that looked like they cared about their cars so I don't think that my experience was normal. I just wouldn't advise going without coins. read more

The equipment here is old and barely hanging on. There is always an issue so I no longer use this facility. I've tried all the stalls and each one had an issue, some that cost me more money because I had to redo something again due to non-working equipment. There is no number to contact anyone for refunds so you will just lose your money. Use at your own risk. Good Luck. read more

Never use a credit card. Today in stall nearest the change machines, I used my credit card, swiped once to soap brush. When finished, I returned to add one more swipe of my card to rinse, but the machine said, "busy", so I waited and swiped again and it said, "busy". Those in line let me back out and go next into another stall to rinse. I swiped card once and I rinsed. I believe I had two minutes total to rinse. After leaving, I checked my bank account and they had taken $10 from each stall for a total of $20!!! For a 3 minute wash and 3 min rinse, I was ripped off and I want to be refunded. NEVER use your credit/debit card here. It is a rip off!!! I've been going here for years using quarters, but using a card is a huge mistake. read more

I come here often because my girlfriend's house is on the same street. My first observation is that they are always busy! I always see every station full and about 2-3 cars waiting in line. I usually visit when they are not busy (typically weekday mornings). My next observation was that this location is kind of on the more expensive side. I'm used to spending $5 dollars for 14 minutes at my usual self-serve car wash. On average I spend $7-8 for the same 14 minutes here. I've also noticed that everything about this place is aged and worn down. I don't trust the soapy brush as it looks filthy. I wouldn't want to use it on my paint because it would leave swirls on my car. Therefore I try to go as hands-free as possible. The only reason why I keep coming back is because I drive from LA to San Leandro once or twice a month and I care about my car, and I hate to have bug splatters solidify on the paint. Overall this location has everything to get the job done, I just take extra precautions to keep my paint unscratched. read more

Normally I like to take my vehicles to Auto Pride Car Wash in San Carlos. I live on the peninsula so it's relatively close and for pretty cheap I get a swarm of people (who probably don't have work visas) to go to town getting things all sparkly. However, I have one car that is my POS commuter vehicle and it spends most of its time strategically parked under the tree in front of my house or the tree that offers shade at my workplace. Needless to say given the parking locale and the fact that it has about 130K miles and counting it is hopelessly neglected. I feel embarrassed taking it to Auto Pride and the peninsula doesn't have any old school coin car washes (at least as far as I am aware of). So when it comes time to knock all the bird shit off I take it over to the Washington Ave Self Car Wash in San Leandro. I have to give these guys credit for not skimping on the coin wash business. For $2.25 you get a reasonable time on the spray gun and if you get the foam brush out it's like taking a bubble bath. You get enough soap that it gets hard to see all the crusty bird feces to be removed. Although the machines take credit cards I wouldn't feel comfortable putting my plastic into some sketchy coin wash. To their credit, they have a working change machine and you can also feed bills into the machines. In addition, they have vending machines offering Turtle wax, a variety of air fresheners and, of course, Mountain Dew (Sadly no crab juice or khlav kalash). Another plus for this car wash is that you get to observe all of the finest Oakland public in their natural habitat. I would call the car wash reasonably safe and certainly not flak jacket worthy but do realize this is not an oasis in the East Bay. As expected you will see a bunch of ~$400 Buicks with rims worth 10X the body and woofers pumping out the 150 dB inner city tunes. It's all good though 'cause as I said I'm also washing my POS vehicle... Bottom line.... It's nice to see a coin op car wash today and it's great if you need something fast and cheap but you'd probably be better off taking your Mercedes somewhere else. read more

I had some time to kill before an appointment, so I decided I should wash my van since I had not done so in almost a year. I guess it's been a while since I had been to a self service car wash...... but it's kind of fun using the high pressure washer and bubble brush... I wouldn't usually leave a review about a car wash, but apparently, the guy who owned it was there at the time, removing money from the machines, servicing equipment etc... He was such a nice guy, he added extra money to lengthen my wash, for free! Thanks dude! read more

It is easy to miss when your driving by, it sets back. It is a decent self service car wash, the area is so/so.

Lost $5 quarters, the machine was broken. Looked for number to call for refund, no luck. Found number online and called it, no answering machine, only a fax machine sound. $$$$Lost, time wasted. I will never use this place again. read more
