It was really easy to make a appointment over the phone. I dropped off our Ford Escape this morning and the car was available before 3pm. The car looked even better than when we picked it up from SF Ford. Ryan from "The Auto Spa" received my car @ 9am and assured me it would look awesome. And it did! Nice guys there. Decent hours M-F 7am-6:30pm, Sat 9am-4pm. If I ever plan to sell this car, I'll definitely get it detailed here before putting it on the market (carpets shampoo, seats slippery clean, dash, console, and steering wheel - clean enough to eat off of). *** Please read all the way through. Do not go here. Got a half ass car wash and clay bar treatment at best. I know what it feels like when you take the time to clay bar/polish/seal automotive paint and that did not happen with my car as promised. Car was not vacuumed, wheels still dirty and the windows look like someone wiped them with a wet cloth and let it dry under a dust storm. You can't see before you leave because it's so dark in there and the cars are packed so I couldn't even open the trunk. They also call you at the last minute and expect you to get through SF traffic within 20-30 min. There are also some blemishes on my car that were not there before. Another Person was in there and having some serious issues with scratches they made on his car as well. ****update**** I changed my Rating because Nader reached out and wanted to make up for an experience he did not feel was accurate of the Business. He responded quickly for the most part even when I did not. He set up a time for me to come in and get what I paid for and some "extra services ." When I got the car back this time the paint looked great. So the Auto Spa can make your car look great. My friend Robyn had recommended these guys. I wasn't sure of them other than her recommendation. With that in mind... The team at Auto Spa are fantastic. This is my second time around with these guys for a different car -- my 1965 Mustang -- and they are just truly sincere, dedicated, hard working people who understand not just the quality of work matters but so does customer service. They are honest to a fault and address any and all concerns one might have to ensure that the finished product meets approval. A recent restoration project even though I've had the car since I was 16... these guys did an amazing job and had everything well beyond expectations and ready at 5 pm on the dot as they list on their website. The shop is conveniently located in SOMA. I highly recommend these guys. And although services at any level are value priced -- do the full package whenever you can as it really does restore your car to a "brand new" feel both interior and exterior. My car literally looks NEW when it's actually 16 years old. I bought my car second hand and had only took him thru the car wash. After the Auto Spa, he is a fresh color of silver that I've never seen. Picture a black Tahoe and from afar it looks like someone unleashed hell on the paint - did someone key that thing - and then you get close and realize, it's just REALLY REALLY BAD swirl marks and halos.. I brought my Tahoe to Nader and his crew, they did an EXCELLENT job! I never thought that it would be possible to get all the swirl marks out of my paint..Sure, I'm guilty of running through the occasional car wash when i'm too lazy to hand wash it, and because of this the paint took a beating. I dropped off my truck at 7:30am and it was ready by 3:15pm, when i showed u to pick up my truck they were just wrapping up. Nader walked me over to the truck and had me feel the paint - whoa that thing was smooth as silk. He then explained to me what they had done and took his time to show me how good the paint looked. I couldn't believe that all the swirl marks and halos were gone!! It was actually Black and the paint looked better than new. These guys know what they're doing and the quality speaks for itself. Black cars are hard to maintain and you would never know that my Tahoe once looked as if someone keyed it from far away.. If you have a car that is need of a good detail then this place is a MUST! Went to this place based on Yelp reviews and needing to get my 12-yr old Integra spiffed up for a sale. (I'm gettin' too old for parking backwards, on a hill, with a manual. Some guys think that's hot but it's not really that fun.) I used the $179 Internet special, and was generally a lot more anal than I needed to be, as my defenses were up given the generally shady rep of anything related to finding new auto-related vendors. (Fortunately I found an awesome mechanic.) Turns out I didn't need to be suspicious. These guys work underneath the old Sound Factory (yes, that dates me), and have a nice little bidness going for them. Busy enough to not have anyone slacking around. Not so busy that they were losing their cool and friendly ways. Extremely friendly service, and yes they pointed out things they did and accommodated for me. (I had a few SF parking sticker remnants on my baby after 10 years in the city.) I was a little picky about seeing certain spots and asking them to wipe some water droplets up - and they never lost their cool. (Sometimes vendors' fake patience can break down...yeah, I do look for true colors.) The surface of the car was smooooooth as a baby's butt after 12 years of oxidation were peeled off. The guy forgot to charge me the $20 extra for cleaning up the engine, but they were all so nice that I had to tell him. :) Also, don't expect a ton of butt kissing amenities...these guys work hard, have tattoos, a messy desk, and a beat-up ol' couch to rest on if your ride is late. You're on your own, there. The only ding is that the layer of chaos there may not be all up you readers' alley. I had to offer to leave my phone number so they could call me when the car was ready, there was no order form scribbled out or anything, so you just had to trust them, the time estimate may be very broad, and I ended up calling anyway to check up on the status. I wanted to give them more of my business by taking my new car there for regular car washes ($15 if you buy a pack in advance -- beat that, Divisadero Car Wash!) . However, Charlie didn't have any fliers for me, or the details on the package. But if you're not uptight, this should be all good. Cuz if they're too busy yapping with you, they're not cleaning the cars. And you want your car clean, right?? Caveat: I have NEVER ever detailed any car before, so on the one hand I was extra picky in looking at things, but I wasn't totally sure what to look for. Mainly I thought about all the nooks & crannies I'd get to with a Qtip if I were doing this in my buddy Dave's garage. And I looked for cloth wiping smudges (wax on, wax off!). I recently brought my car to Nader / Auto Spa and I could not be happier with the experience. Auto Spa's work is some of the best that I have seen. I researched and looked at several different coatings and shops, but I eventually decided to get exterior done here. Nader did an amazing job throughout. I brought my vehicle in for a quote. He talked me through the type of packages they offer, where coating can be applied, the condition of my vehicle, common installations and coverage areas, and any questions I had about the process. It was evident that Nader was a master installer with years of experience. This shop has an easy to read price guide for estimates, but for a hard quote, you need to bring the vehicle in so they can examine the state of the vehicle and walk through the package or options you want installed. The quote I was provided was fair and straight forward. When I picked up the vehicle from Nader, he walked me through the work that was done, showing me the areas had been applied to do, and answered any questions I had. He even showed me basic maintenance techniques for the coating. I then brought my vehicle back in within 2 weeks for the inspection, and the process was a breeze. Not only does Nader / Auto Spa perform excellent work, the respect and diligence Nader has for his customers as well as his top notch work ethic is truly hard to find. Auto Spa and I got off to a rough start... I was told to have my car there at 7:00AM on Monday Morning. No problem. I pull up at 6:55AM and I wait for them to open. And I wait some more.. and some more 7:10AM and I call, and call... and call. So I wait. 7:15... 7:20 someone starts to walk up the street as I am learning on the door to there garage clearly annoyed and cold. He starts to explain why he is late but I think he quickly realizes I don't care, it's not my problem. After signing some paperwork and explaining exactly what I was looking for in terms of the interior detail I am assured it can be done. Not having anyway to get back home to Colma I planned to park it at a cafe and read ALL day long and I did just that.. 4:30PM rolls around and I get a call saying that they thought someone had called me already and my car has been ready.. ok that is mildly annoying and at this point I was concerned with how good of a job they may or may not have done. After walking in I was shown directly to my car, they had washed the outside and even buffed out some scrapes, I didn't ask for that.. nice save.. When I opened the door, I was stunned. It was SPOTLESS... truly amazing. The inside of my 2002, dirty, dusty, grimy dog hair infested car looked brand new and my seats were almost a different colour. Dropped my car off this morning for a full external detail and was told by a worker there to come back at 3:00. I came back only to discover nothing had been done to my car. I called the number to find out from the worker of auto spa that they had been relocated. So, I did not get anything done and wasted a day off of work and spent $25.00 on Uber to get back home and back to the place for nothing. Not a way to conduct business. And the person was apologetic but that doesn't help me after wasting a full day off. They could have contacted me about the relocation and I gave them my info and had an appointment, so they knew that they were relocating but didn't take the time to contact their customers. Amazing customer service and high quality work! My hat goes off to the guys at Autospa for their top notch detailing on my little ole blue. They washed and polished him up to a showroom shine! Appointments were easily made over the phone and they even stayed open late on Saturday for pickup. I'd suggest making an appointment way in advance becauase these guys are swamped! Worth any wait! I bought a groupon for a treatment 3 service and was able to make an appointment at 8am the very next day. The other reviews are right in that you don't get the kiss-ass customer service, but nobody was unfriendly by any means, they just didn't really say much. I'm ok with that. I just want to get my car prettied up, get in and get out. I pulled into the the shop, parked my car in the shop; someone came by asked for my name and number, I gave him the keys and showed him the groupon on my phone, and that was it. An hour before I could get back to pick up the car at the end of the day, I called, told the person my name, make and model of the car, and he said "Yup, ready." I showed up, got my key, and drove off Oh, and the car was SPARKLING! Inside and out, I've not seen it like that since the day I drove it brand new off the lot! It was a beautiful job! My car was brought in for a full detail because I noticed black grease spots stuck on the back bumper after the last big rainstorm in the Bay Area. It may have been from all the dirt and debris on the highways that were kicked up. I knew the job would require a bit of elbow grease....so it was better for a professional to try to tackle it, rather than I try. A few hours later, when I received my car back, it was immaculate! I had the "Treatment 2" (clay and wax) work on my car. They did a decent job, but it could have been better if they had better work lights. They missed a lot spots that's highly visible in the sunlight. They could have done a better job on the wheel barrels. I ended up spending another hour with a quick wash spray to touch things up and remove excessive wax on exterior plastics. Shop location is a little sketchy. It's just an extremely old warehouse. No signage on the building. But I guess that's normal for this part of SF. read more

This place is great! I brought in our BMW after our toddler threw up in the back seat. There was also 2 years of accumulated milk and coffee drips, plus assorted dings in the paint thanks to all of the careless inconsiderate ******* parkers in the city. The owner gave me a lift downtown after I dropped off the car - very nice. When I returned the car looked new. The paint was flawless, many of the dings were buffed out or touched up. The interior looked and smelled new thanks to the shampoo job. I have had cars detailed before but never seen such a great detailing job. I am glad I checked yelp or I never would have found it. These guys are great! I first started going here because of how close it is to where I live, then realized that they have a Groupon deal going on for exterior details. I have brought two differnt cars here for exterior details, and was blown away of what they were able to do with my 4Runner. They even took out a giant scuff on the front bumper for me as they were wrapping up their day. So, as it turns out there is an ending to this story. After reading my Yelp review, the manager of AutoSpa called me. He said, "I can't ask you to remove your Yelp review..." but he did offer to send me a check to reimburse me for my detail (although not the repair work I had done). The check arrived about four weeks later. So what have we learned? First, if you're running a business, run it like a business. When a customer calls, don't answer with "what" or "yeah." How about "Good morning, this is AutoSpa." Next, understand the cost of customer acquisition. I learned about AutoSpa through an on-line deal last year. Those had to be expensive. Whatever you spent to get me through the door is now wasted money. The people who've read this review are lost potential customers. This was a *very* expensive mistake for AutoSpa. Next, learn what it takes for customer retention. People are human and your employees will make mistakes from time to time. Your customers realize this. When one of your people screws up, don't take the strategy of "maybe it's our fault and maybe it's not but we won't admit to culpability so that you can't force us to fix it if we screwed up too bad." Your customers are paying north of $300 for a detail...they're likely not bottom-feeders. They expect good service for their money and time. When you damage something, don't force your customer to endure delays and frustration. Your move should be to: a) admit your error instantly b) rectify it as quickly as humanly possible c) apologize d) over-deliver on the fix e) have a customer realize your effort and have them as a customer for life. This is not rocket science. Get your act together and if you don't have the right people in management start your business overhaul there and train your employees to please your customers. read more

The owner Nader is dishonest and cheated me out of several washes and waxes that I prepaid for. The washes I did receive were not of very good quality and often had to ask them to remove dirt that they missed or grab a rag and clean it myself. This is definitely not a place you want to take your car especially if you have a nice one. It was always very difficult to schedule a wash and then they wanted you to leave your car there for the better part of the day. When you sell someone a group of washes you should honor it and not decide that it's not beneficial to do the work because you got paid already. I bought a pack of 10 car washes and 2 waxes and only got 7 washes and one wax. Every time I wanted to bring my car in the owner would say we are fully booked making it impossible to schedule my service that I prepaid for. I went back several months later and was told that they only do details now. I asked about my remaining washes and was told they would look for the sheet they used to track the washes. I never got a call back and even stopped by and was told they would look into it, but no resolution. I called yesterday and Nader the owner answers and pretends that it's not him so that he can avoid my call. I will definitely never go back to this crappy auto spa. If anyone asks me where to get their car washed, I will tell them to avoid your place. If your going to rip off your customers, you won't be in business long. read more

I just don't understand because I read these Yelp reviews and people are raving about the great detail service. I arrived at a conclusion: People who purchased the Yelp deal tend not to be true car enthusiasts. Do you consider the vehicle to be "clean" after a day in the rain? This person would be highly impressed by any major car wash. I don't want to discount the auto cleaning because they did a super good job at WASHING the car. Unfortunately a car wash is significantly less in scope than a detail. Assuming that we define a detail as "systematic rejuvenation and protection of the various surfaces of a vehicle." The interior was dust free and shiny, as I would expect from a detail. However, the exterior left me disappointed as the headlamps were cleaned, but did not appear "rejuvenated" in any way. Among other imperfections noted were water marks, soap streaks, and a failure to remove dirt accumulated in the area where the glass intersects the door frame. I have no idea who Nader is, but the person sitting on the computer when I picked up the vehicle didn't appear friendly or welcoming. He pointed me to the vehicle and said that it was finished. While it doesn't seem like a big deal, a little professionalism will go a long way. In the end, if you are a typical person with a normal vehicle, and The Auto Spa is in a convenient location, then I think it's a great car wash; It's 10x better than a gas station. However, are you a member of a car club? Do you normally wash your own vehicle because you settle for nothing less than perfection? I know of one place in SF and another along the peninsula and I'm sure there are countless others. read more

Called back another two weeks later and have left messages on their machine, none of which have gotten a return call. Terrible customer service and a bad deal. I shouldn't have to wait months just to get an appointment to get my car cleaned. If I could give them negative stars, I would!! It started out bad from the very beginning. On the day of my appointment, I drove to Auto Spa (from Berkeley) only to find out that they wouldn't work on my car because "I wasn't in the computer." I was sure I had an appointment, but didn't push the matter. The following Friday, I commuted across the Bay Bridge again, and dropped off my car without incident. I even agreed to leave my car there until Saturday morning. But when I showed up the next morning, they hadn't even started work on my car!! I was in disbelief!! All he said was, "The guy didn't call you?" No! No one called me. Why isn't my car done? At 5:15PM that evening, I called to ask if my car was ready. I was surprised it wasn't done... When I finally picked up my car, I found that they didn't clean my trunk! I would NOT recommend Auto Spa to anyone!! They are not to be trusted. I purchased a Groupon and expected my car to return sparkly clean but it got worse! - The front bumper is now covered by multiple tiny spider cracks (i had a scratch there, the buffer was too strong in that spot). There's also a spot on the hood with the same spider cracks. - The roof weatherstrip is now dry and white, clearly from where they "polished" the roof. - Car is covered in white flakes which I presume is wax falling off? Washing it seemed to get rid of most of it but I still find specks on rubber seals. I guess you do get what you pay for. read more

They agreed to clean my fiance's car, but refused to detail my car that same day, claiming they were to busy for yelp customers. The customer service was beyond egregious. Points off for it being a really dirty place. Not just garage dirty, but super unorganized and unclean, kind of looks like they are perpetually on the last month of their lease. Actually, it looks really out of place to see nice cars in this cave. More points off for weak or at least very strange communication. You call them to see if car is ready, they tell you that they aren't at the location, but will call over to find out. (This isn't JetBlue's 800 number guys, just have the phone go to the garage!). Lastly points off for price, very, very expensive to detail and clay bar a car - like $325 per car expensive. Whoa. Not Floyd Mayweather and this ain't Team Money! Anyway, detailing was quality and the guy that did it was very careful and attentive. I love a clean car, but short of sending it back to the factory to replace the paint and interior, I'm not sure I'll ever get $325 worth of excitement out of it. Final take: a bit expensive (they do offer cheaper treatments so maybe that's the way to go), a bit messy looking, communication not A+, but the plus side is that they seem to be on top of the care of the car and the finished product as very high quality. Then he told me he would call me back & hung up! Needless to say I have not gotten a call back. He should not be dealing with customers. My car is about to go back to the dealer at the end of my lease, and at a pre-return inspection I was told that the dealer wanted a fortune to fix some minor issues. Among other things I had a series of very light, long scratches along the passenger side, probably the result of brushing against bushes when parking. The dealer wanted $200 to fix each scratch... and there were at least half a dozen, perhaps more. A little Yelp research led me to a handful of candidates. I called around and eventually settle on the Auto Spa due to their reviews. While there are a number of low scores, almost all of them are Grouponers who were dissatisfied with a deal that obviously swamped the business with more work than they could handle, a common Groupon problem; I dismissed them as irrelevant. I'm glad I did. I was able to make an appointment for the next day, and showed up promptly at 8AM. At first the guy on duty sounded a little brusque, but it very quickly became clear that he was just a little unpolished, not rude; he clearly knew what he was doing and handled it professionally. We settled on an exterior detailing, and I left him to it. They called a few hours later. A different guy greeted me cheerfully and showed me what they'd done. Wow! The car virtually glowed. Not only were the scratches totally gone, but the whole thing looked better than the day I drove it off the dealer's lot. They even erased a scuff on the front bumper that the dealer had identified as another expensive problem.... fixed! All of this was done for a very reasonable price, a little over half of what one of their competitors quoted me. The Auto Spa did the job quickly, professionally, and cheaply, and saved me a ton of money in dealer fees. I'll definitely be back the next time I need their services. read more
