The GMG website listed Berkshire Hearth & Home as a dealer so I began by emailing them with some basic questions. They were always quick to reply and answered all of my questions. I originally planned this to be a birthday gift for my wife which would have been in January but there was a really good sale that was coming to an end on 1 December so it was full steam ahead. We agreed on a charge for delivery and setup and after a few days Brad let me know that the grill had arrived and would it be convenient to bring it by the next day (I'm in Milford BTW). He gave me a one hour window for delivery and they arrived exactly at the 1/2 hour mark. Brad and his helper had the grill off of the truck and setup in just a few minutes. There was a shortage from the factory on the grill covers so afterwards I found one online from another vendor and ordered it. Since I'd already paid for a cover with my initial purchase I asked if they could refund the cost of the cover. They immediately replied that it would not be a problem. This has been one of the worst experiences we've had with a service since moving to Naugatuck and buying our first home. We were installing a heat pump shortly after moving in and had Home Doctor do our energy assessment to qualify for a rebate. That was in December... after multiple requests, we still have yet to receive our assessment for our own records. We luckily got their signature on the rebate form while at our home, otherwise we probably never would have gotten the rebate to go through either. Before we knew better than to stay away, in February they called us soliciting services to install insulation in our crawl space attic. They claimed that based on the size of the space and what we would need, we qualified for a rebate that would cover the entire cost. They claimed we just needed to pay the deposit (50% of the total cost) and it would be refunded to us after the rebate processed. Here we are 5 months later with no refund in sight. We've called countless times in the past couple months with no resolution. Literally no one ever answers their phone during their business hours... and no one has called me back from the last 7 voicemails I've left. We were not in any real need of installing this insulation at the time they solicited their services. Our home felt fine...if they had ever given us our energy assessment, maybe insulation would have been a to do list item in the future. But in February we had literally just found out we were pregnant. This money was earmarked for other more pressing things to prepare for baby. We only did the insulation because it was supposed to be free... Who wouldn't if it's free? What a scam! Go somewhere else! If anyone has recommendations of other businesses we could use in our future home energy upgrades, please share.
