Was told around 700 or 800 for it all, and mad an appointment for two weeks later on a day I already had off work. 30 minutes before they were supposed to arrive they canceled and told me they are two weeks behind on a major project and would call in 1 to 2 weeks to reschedule. 1 month later I called as I never heard back and was able to get an appointment for the following week. Got a quote on site for 1500 for only the doorbells nothing else, told them what I was originally quoted, and it got lowered to 1100. I refused as that's still no where near what I was originally told since the original included the grounding. The electrician was very polite and nice, just not the company I dont see a way to add a comment to your response so i will just edit this. My over the phone one was for 700-800, i made it very clear that wires were pulled for the first doorbell, and the trouble shooting would be necessary, and that no wire were pulled for the second one. the phone quote included doing the grounding for the fireplace, the 1500 in person one did not. I was quoted 1500 at first then explained what i was told on the phone, and then it became 1200, and yes that is post tax, but tax is not that much in mason county. You would not have installed any doorbells or the chimes, this was just to install 1 transformer and run the wiring to a second spot as if the original transformer had to be replace you would have had to come back out, as you only had one on site.

The backstory: my family and I were in Alaska when the PNW had a big freeze and our pool heat pump condenser and above ground pipes froze and burst. No one was able to come to our home for a couple weeks due to all the other customer priorities dealing with the aftermath of the storm. I completely get it...a pool is not a priority when others are without heat. So our son purchased and installed a new condenser to get the pool water flowing to avoid frozen water in the pool cracking our pool walls and creating a much bigger problem! Our next challenge was to find a way to purchase and install a highly regulated refrigerant requiring a license and special tools. We soon learned that DIYing the refrigerant to get the heat pump working was not possible. For over three years I called different service companies asking for help - pool service companies such as Aquaquip who originally sold and installed the unit, and AquaCal; a different AquaCal, the manufacturer of the pool heat pump; other dozens of other HVAC contractors too numerous to mention except I will mention my serious disappointment with South Sound Plumbing with whom we spend a lot of money annually to service our other home heat pumps. After 30 different phone calls none would help us. "Too risky they" said, "wouldn't be able to warranty the work" said others. The truth? Our problem was simply too small a job or didn't fit their known expertise. Northwest was willing to help (BTW they showed up on the top of a list of HVAC contractors during my ChatGPT co-thinking session). I'm so grateful to Darlene (who took my call and listened with compassion to my unusual problem. I'm grateful to Zane, Northwest's Service Manager, who spent time deeply listening, brainstorming an approach, and getting someone out to our home. Don't let the sell job catch you...they're slick on the sell and absent on accountability. :-( UPDATE: Another company identified a different problem as the culprit, and identified installation flaws from this company. They went…read moreabove and beyond in the tear down of the old one and making the new one up to code (flex gas fittings and electrical box/switch). They constructed an adapter sleeve to accomodate the more compact unit (shorter unit). They replaced the B-vent exhaust pipe as it had some rust on it (although was not rusted through). They wired up a new, touchscreen thermostat, an upgrade to the 46-year old unit that was a mechanical thermostat with a vertical toggle for the temperature setting.
