I appreciated him talking me through the different steps he did to check the integrity of my electricity voltage and wiring. The heated floor issue ended up not being an electricity issue, so he was not able to resolve my problem. I had an excellent experience start to finish with Custom Electrical Services. I was looking to add outlets to 3 of my bathrooms for electric bidets and reached out to them on Yelp. After getting an initial quote, an electrician came by a few days later to inspect my house to better understand the work involved. I received a final quote that same day. I got a quote from 1 other company that was slightly more expensive, and their proposed work was more invasive (cutting more holes, conduit outside the house which wouldn't be allowed by my HOA) Once I agreed to work with them they got me on the schedule the following week. 2 technicians, Brandon and Travis arrived and went over the scope of work. They found that the plan by the initial electrician who came by would not work and they gave me an updated plan. They kept me updated as they were doing things, such as if the power would have to go off which it only did for a few minutes. They were absolute professionals throughout the entire process. The end result was better than I expected: the drywall damage was even less than I thought it would be considering the work involved, they got everything done in a few hours, and of course I now have outlets at my toilets for my bidets. After some initial communication glitches about our service request, this company worked out for us. Their electrician Chris came out, looked over our house, and promptly supplied a quote which addressed all of our issues. Yesterday was "setup", today he returned and was onsite for eight hours, completing all work required including an extra item the inspector mandated that hadn't been planned for. We now have a fully modern electrical panel, the (grounded) circuit to hook up a dishwasher, and as a bonus round, a working bathroom vent fan. Price was similar to all other electricians, which I would say is extremely expensive now a days. They were able to price match competitors, got a permit, communicated well. On site electrician was knowledgeable and had great customer service. Sales guy was very easy to deal with and answered quick. Scheduling was quick and flexible. As far the pricing thing, it's an industry wide thing where if you break it down you end up paying roughly $500/hr for electricians, which is on par with attorneys. Both can keep you out of serious trouble but both seem overly expensive. If you pay that much you want guys that know what they are doing and are efficient, which these guys were. read more

I called to inquire about the service cost, and I was shocked by how rude the customer service representative was. The moment I asked a simple question--"How much does it cost?"--she started yelling at me over the phone. Her tone was aggressive and condescending, as if I owed her something. All I needed was someone to remove an old bathroom exhaust fan and install a new one. She told me the minimum charge for any service is $395, not including tax. When I asked what exactly is included in that $395, she gave me vague, evasive answers and just kept repeating, "That's the price to replace a fan." I asked if that included removal, installation, or any other potential fees, and she refused to clarify. Even worse, she insisted I had to place an order first and then, once the technician arrives, I'd be given the "real" price. That's a classic bait-and-switch tactic. She was deliberately unclear, obviously trying to lock me in before revealing the full cost. The way she spoke made it sound like she was the only person in the universe capable of doing this job, and I had no other choice but to obey her commands. Her attitude was outrageous--completely unprofessional and unnecessarily hostile. I honestly can't believe a company would allow someone like this to represent them. If this is how they treat potential customers, I can't imagine what their actual service is like. Absolutely disappointing. read more

Actually had a few issues at the outset with a hot tub install and panel upgrade; however, it was Custom Electric's handling of those issues that prompted me to write this review. Long-story-short, we were not pleased with the aesthetics of the original hot tub installation and the cost to re-do certain portions was prohibitive. Custom Electric sent out Zach and Travis - - who did not do the original work - - and they were understanding, apologetic and helpful in making things right. They advocated on my behalf with the company owners and then I had the opportunity to speak with part-owner Josh, who acknowledged my concerns and offered me a fair deal to ensure the job was done to my satisfaction. Zach and Travis then did the work. Zach and Travis, and their team, worked for probably 8+ hours in some pretty scorching heat to finish the hot tub install and upgrade the panel, and they walked me through the permitting process and handled that end soup-to-nuts. I felt they were practical and smart in their approach, and they were friendly and made things easy. Good experience. After experiencing an extended power outage in January (my family and I live in a rural area where a power outage takes 3+ days to be restored), I messaged CES to have a whole home standby generator and automatic transfer switch purchased and installed. Their website clearly showed that they perform this type of work including other services and rough estimates (kudos and great job!). Within a few minutes, the company responded on Yelp, provided a rough estimate, and asked for pictures of my power panel so they could provide a more accurate quote. Within a few days, Joe and Caleb visited my home to survey the site and answer my questions, and later sent me the final estimate with a detailed breakdown. The company followed up on Yelp and via email regularly to see if I had any questions, which was appreciated. Once some natural gas questions and logistics were addressed by my utilities company, PSE, we were able to schedule Joe and Caleb to come back and install the equipment a few weeks later. CES coordinated the power shut off with PSE and contracted out the gas line work to Bowers Plumbing & Remodel, who did a satisfactory job. Even though I offered to help haul the equipment because of the steep terrain at our home, Joe and Caleb politely declined and was able to get extra help from more crew members to come by and carry the 400+ lb generator down our steep walkway. The install took two days because of all the work that needed to be done, which was reasonable because of hauling the equipment, all the electrical work, and the gas line work needed underneath my front deck. When the work was finished, Caleb called Generac to register and activate my generator on my behalf, and then both Joe and Caleb simulated a power outage (my generator quickly came on within 10 seconds) and explained to me how my generator works. At the end, they cleaned up the generator's pallets and boxes in my driveway like it was never there in the first place. On all the days they were at my home, Joe and Caleb notified me when they were on my way and were always on time. They were extremely professional, polite, and respected our wishes for no shoes or covered shoes in the carpeted areas (our home has light carpets where the power panel is). The following week, some lights in my home was browning out (dimming and pulsing). I was concerned that it had something to do with the generator, so I called CES and they sent Joe and Caleb back to check everything out. Based on some voltage readings, they found that the issue was on the utility company (PSE) side. Joe contacted PSE and provided his report on my behalf. It turns out that PSE was doing work down the road to replace some transformers, which ended up fixing the issue we were having. We really appreciated CES, Joe, and Caleb for all their services and for making sure that everything was working as expected and that we were happy.
