What a beautiful day…read more - worship at Mary, Queen of Peace: check - coffee from the wonderful people at PJ's: check - walking on the lakefront with my little buddy: check - crazy, cool tree covered in icicles melting and cracking: check Today was one of those amazingly cool and dry days we get as a real gift from the Father about 4 or 6 times a year. Probably more, but work is work, yeah? Still, it was so cold and crisp, and the sun was so beautiful and bright, that we parked up the street on Girod just to walk past the shops on our way to the lake. Ok, we also parked there to get a pic that super cool tree and the sun shining through the icicles. The lakefront is a gorgeous walk along the seawall - sun glinting off the calm waves, other walkers/runners/cyclists (not too many today!) enjoying the gift of the day the Lord has made. Freki and I were definitely rejoicing in it! We did get some water at The Barley Oak - always dog-friendly, or maybe dog-encouraging. It's one of our favorite places to stop and meet new people to pet. If you see Freki, say hi, he wants to pet you, I promise! 2 thumbs and a couple dewclaws up for this one!

I noticed Glenn tends to insult and demean customers who leave him negative reviews on Yelp. It is…read morevery disturbing that he takes the time to stalk his reviewers on the internet in order to insult them with specificity. Maybe instead of putting his energy into writing mean comments about his reviewers, Glenn should reflect on why his paying customers had a bad experience. Frankly, the tour wasn't engaging. The guide spent a lot of time talking about his personal adventures and, inexplicably, films and movie stars. He was also was quite patronizing and that made the entire experience very uncomfortable for me and my friends. I'm leaving 3 stars because he did provide a complete tour, but the negativity in his responses is completely uncalled for. EDIT: Unsurprisingly, Glenn left an insulting comment on this review. Glenn, I have reported you to Yelp for violating content policy by harassing and bullying those who leave you honest reviews. Have a good evening.

Hi Glenn! You may remember me from our conversation at Antoine's after a recent literary tour…read moreduring which we discussed the importance of tone and how yours was so off-putting. You remember, you asked for examples of times when your tone was especially arrogant? If I may, sir, please bring your attention to your response to Maddie W.'s review below. Instructing your colleagues, family, and friends around the world to pray for the recovery of a woman who was disappointed in the services you provided is not only patronizing and ill-mannered, it is patently misogynistic. Perhaps it is for your own recovery that you should be soliciting prayers. P.S. Though we were but "members of the general public," the waitstaff at Antoine's was simply lovely and, having heard how disappointed we were in your tour, made sure to provide us with thoughtful highlights of the restaurant's history. I must say that having a view of the wine cellar unobstructed by dirty glass was delightful. Cheers!

I had seen this museum on Facebook, looked at their outdated website, read reviews here on YELP,…read moreand have been eyeballing this museum for quite some time. Like a couple of years. I tried calling the number on their website, which is the same number that is on here and on their Facebook page, all to no response, even emailed them and no response. I have had some unexpected time off work lately and decided to just drive up. I was NOT disappointed. They are open Wednesday thru Friday and every other Saturday from 10a-3p. It is on a side street, park in front. You will probably have to ring the doorbell. Yes, it is in a converted house. The main draw is the Britney exhibit, which is in 6 rooms. The docent was very proud of everything, and all Britney has done. Evidently Britney got her name spelled with 1 t because her paternal grandmother was a war bride from WWII brought over by her grandfather from Great Britain, hence the spelling. Seriously, the docent is pretty darn proud of the town darling, and is proud of the fact that she is called upon to do floral arrangements for the family. There is a large room dedicated to all of the citizens of this sleepy community who served in all of the major wars of the last 100 years or so. It is a great source of pride. There is another room dedicated to the history of the city. The docent was just so proud of everything. This is exactly what I expected a small town museum to be. It is worth the trip to come. It is just over an hour north of the New Orleans metro area.

During my time in Baton Rouge and a rental car for a day at my disposal, I decided to drive up to…read moreKentwood, LA. As many would know, it's the hometown of pop queen Britney Spears. And there's a big sign on LA highway 51 northbound that said so. I know, I took a few photos of that sign. It was interesting to be here to sightsee, as I'm sure the town has seen many gawkers trolling around for the last two decades looking for Britney and/or her family. The town of Kentwood had seen better days for sure. Once in the town in Kentwood, I decided to stop by the Kentwood museum, just to see. I've seen in their website stating that they have a shrine dedicating to hometown heroine, Britney Spears. I've grown up with her music and her life way back when I went to high school back in the late 1990's, so it was a treat to actually be there in Kentwood and see Britney's humble beginnings in Kentwood before she went Hollywood. The museum itself is basically the size of a medium single family home. Not too big, but it ain't small either. The town of Kentwood, LA's website, even proudly displays that it's Britney's hometown. I guess that's their claim to fame. I arrived at the Kentwood Museum on a random Wednesday afternoon after driving on the I-12 before turning north to I-55 heading towards the Mississippi state line and Jackson, MS. Kentwood city limits is about 5 miles away from the MS/LA state line, so that's kind of awesome. The museum is located at 204 Avenue E in Kentwood. I was told not to photograph anything, so I just happened to appreciate what was being displayed. I must have spent about 30 minutes looking and appreciate all the Britney related items here at the museum. While they didn't have a formal admission fee, I decided to chip in a small donation. Cash only for that. They have a pretty huge parking lot next to the museum, so that's always nice. It's always a nostalgic experience to venture back 20 years into the past when I was in high school and Britney was getting her start in the music industry. For the most part, visiting Kentwood, LA and the Kentwood museum had been a sightseeing adventure that's often overlooked, especially when you are a fan of Britney herself and of her music. You're basically driving to the middle of nowhere Louisiana, so best believe that it will be worth it, just to say you've been to where it all started. The Britney exhibit was pretty cool, with a replica of her bedroom in her childhood home as well as some moments from her high school days. There is about 4 rooms in the museum that's dedicated to Britney herself. It's definitely well worth the drive to see Britney's hometown, if you are in the area or somewhere relatively nearby. I mean, if you are a super fan or just someone who has grown up with Britney and her music, it's in your best interest to visit once in your lifetime. 5 stars, just because of the huge nostalgia involved. It's not everyday you get to travel and see this kind of thing. I'm glad that Britney is in my generation and just 2 years younger than me. I've enjoyed my time at the Kentwood museum here in Kentwood, LA. I hope you will too. It's sort of like going to Graceland to see Elvis, but Britney is very much around. Support local! A+
