I mean, when I was a kid...I was happy to use any pool over the summer...but my kids have a choice of fantastic city owned pools. Las Posas pool is smaller than Woodland Park pool- there's no diving board but it's heated and there is a fun splash pad. The shaded area is smaller than woodland park pool...something to keep in mind. The lifeguards are friendly and enforce rules. I prefer Woodland Park pool simply because it's closer to my house and there's more shade, but Las Posas still earns 5 stars!

I should've written an update when it was a solid 5…read morestars but this summer (2025), the City of San Marcos partnered with Premier Aquatics and unfortunately, sometimes with change, things go a bit downhill. Before Premier Aquatics, there were plenty of chairs and lounge chairs in the shade, the pool was open during the summer 7 days a week, 12-5, and every Friday night was 'Family Nights' from 6-8. The lifeguards brought out a huge obstacle course and all the kids loved it. Not anymore. The pool is open less hours for recreational swim. M-Th 12-3. F-Su 12-5. There are way less chairs, and no more 'Family Nights'. It's pretty obvious why the rec hours are limited...Premier Aquatics makes more money off swim lessons than they do with recreational swim. They offer more pool passes at different price points, but none of them are through the City of San Marcos. You're buying it straight through Premier Aquatics. My kids still enjoy it, but....meh. 3 stars.

I REALLY liked my meal at the coffee restaurant. Service, food and cleanliness were awesome! * My hotel room was super clean, the bed was plush, the furniture retro. * the yoga and sound sessions were lovely * the pools were wonderful * I had good text replies to my questions These things kept it from being perfect: * the check-in/out were confusing. I got text info after I'd gone through the process. The employees were not as helpful as I'd have liked at the hotel desk. There was different info that would've greatly helped me. The person in front of me got better service for some reason. * some of the employees on the grounds (a server and someone walking around with a brochure) actively avoided interaction. The main bartender was not very friendly. * the showers and bathrooms were dark and desperately needed updating, including hooks in the shower. They were very clean though. * no elevators. From the start to the end I felt none of that, everyone was accommodating and helpful even the other guests were nice. They have over 25 spas, they do a clay mask from 1 to 3, they have restaurants, massages and a little shop. They give you clean towels as needed as well as they have lockers, showers oh and you can rent robes and cabanas. They even have a bar to order drinks now that was cool, I wasn't sure on what to order from their menu so I asked this guy he was tall, blonde brown hair, and a personality that just made you feel like you were at home. He made me laugh which was really needed because I'm always so serious so to release and be chill was refreshing. He pointed me to a berry drink and that was phenomenal. I wish I remembered his name though it started with a K. Anyhow if you know who I'm talking about he is definitely a great asset to the business. I don't worry about anything, he takes care of the pool as he would take care of his own. He is punctual on all weekly scheduled service and always communicates when I have a question or problem, no matter what time of day or weekend. Full size fridge with freezer though lacking ice cube trays. They provided charcoal and fire wood which I did not expect and was a nice surprise. Very quite and peaceful while we were there (Wednesday-Thursday). The community room was retro decorated and the bathrooms were very clean. My only complaint about the pool was the temp of the water. It did not seem heated even though they advertised as a heated pool.

I wish that all of the trailers had AC. I was disappointed to learn that the trailers don't lock from the outside. They tell you to keep your valuables in your car. A. This is inconvenient, B. I am not sure if the spartan locked from the inside either. I feel like the locks are something that they should definitely invest in fixing. The spartan also has a very small water heater. I think that they told us 2 gallons when we called. I couldn't even get through a shower without it running out. We called because we thought maybe it could be fixed but they let us know the water heater is small but they have public showers available. Since it was hot I toughed it out. My brother stayed in the mansion and it had a bad smell in it. It bothered his girlfriend a lot. They did have AC and their hot water was fine. Their trailer also did not lock from the outside. The trailers are cute, and we liked the vintage decor but they need some work done. I feel like their trailers have a lot of potential if they would just invest in them a bit. My husband and I stayed at another location that had vintage trailers. They were definitely nicer. AC, hot water, new linoleum, locks and keys, and did not have a bad smell. I hope that pinecrest can improve their vintage trailers. I think that if they improved them they would have a lot more return business.

Pool was busy and everyone was doubled up in the 4 available lanes. An elderly lady that I was…read moresharing a lane with had no spatial awareness. During her breast stroke her feet that were the size of canoes kicked me as she passed by. She did not apologize or acknowledge the kick until I waited for her at the end of my lap. Come on people, if you have a wide erratic breaststroke kick, switch to dolphin kick as you pass by your fellow swimmers. Each time she passed me I could feel the kick come within millimeters of my body. She left a bruise and made my swim a negative experience.
