*******DO NOT USE SD POOL CENTER******* Extremely disappointed with SD Pool Center. I was having problems with my pool heater, but fixed it before the appointment. I felt I should still get it serviced, however when Gavin arrived and after explaining everything I'd done (including that I was laid off in January so wasn't working right now and need to save every dollar!), he said it doesn't need anything done as the service light was no longer coming on after I fixed it. I thought that was fantastic of him. I went with SD Pool Center as the price was slightly cheaper than Leslie's, however Leslie's call-out fee was under $50. Gavin said the call-out fee used to be around $50, however I received the invoice $128.63. After going back to them, they reduced it to $102.90. I emailed them a few times about getting a further discount, however they never responded, so I had to call them today. They wouldn't reduce the fee any further. I don't recommend them as I find it hard to believe a 5 minute call-out fee would be over $100. Feeling ripped off.... read more

STAY AWAY!!!! THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS!!! HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND SUBSTANDARD POOL MAINTENANCE! We switched to San Dieguito Pool for weekly service on our newly constructed salt water pool. The chemicals were always off. The pool tech added salt when the levels were already optimal and I had specifically told him not to do so. They were charging us $125/ month and they never vacuumed the pool it was basically just for "chemicals" and they would brush the sides of the pool off. When I reached out to customer service for help they were less than understanding. Janelle specifically is a nightmare to work with. I have other friends who used San Dieguito Pool and have been treated the same by Janelle. The Thursday before Labor Day weekend our pool was "serviced". Later that afternoon I noticed the water did not look right. I used strips and the 5 step kit to check the chemicals and they were off. Our Chlorine was .5 ppm. The alkalinity and pH were also extremely low. According to San Dieguitos email report they were all average readings. I called to report it the next morning since they close at 3pm and she said that I must me testing wrong and they would show me how next time. They also said that they could not come out for 1 week to take a look. I took a water sample to Leslie Pool and their test confirmed my 2 previous tests. I emailed the results to San Dieguito pool and they still would not come and fix their work. I canceled them that day and asked for a refund for my last 2 "services" they would not and only credited 1 visit (which i had to spend almost 70 bucks in chemicals to fix their mistakes) read more

HORRIBLE!!!! Their pool techs are totally incompetent. Their newest guy was over to clean the pool and now nothing works. The pool is so dirty, you can't see the bottom, when the pool cleaner guy left, he left the spa jets on, the spa wasn't even half full of water, and now the spa is completely drained out. They sent a guy to "clean the filters" and now the vacuum doesn't work, there's no pressure, the pool smells and it's full of algae. Have called repeatedly to no avail. Terrible pool cleaners, terrible customer service, pool techs do not know what they're doing, do not show up when they're scheduled...they break your equipment, blame you, then want to charge you to fix it. I wish I'd checked the reviews for this company earlier. Problem is, I had no idea that they had taken over Discount Pool Supply who was my previous provider. I never had any complaints about DPS until now. They raised our rates 25% above agreement without notice. They inflated the minor repair bill 35% above the agreed quote. They attempted to steal the payment for the work and rebill me. The billing department was rude and unhelpful, since I save receipts, I was able to point out their error (appearing more like an attempt at fraud). No apologies: instead claimed it was my fault they charged me 3 times for the same service. And insisted that I pay the new inflated repair bill in full. I found myself shorted around $327. It may be a small price to pay for a lesson learned and being able to cut all ties to this company. I hope any possible future customers take heed. read more

I cannot in good conscience give this company a good review. It took 5 visits over the course of a month to fix a check valve problem that should have been fixed with one visit. The first visit, the technician seemed to have fixed the problem but then 2 days later the water level dropped again. He came out a second time and "fixed" it by putting some kind of epoxy on the piping to stop it from leaking. We asked for a more permanent fix which we should not have had to do. Then the third visit, Chuey came out but had been given the wrong information/photo about what the problem was so he couldn't work on it. The fourth time no one came because the office didn't notify me that Chuey had a family emergency and wouldn't be coming. The fifth time, Chuey fixed it properly. Chuey is the only good thing about this company. He should go work for another more reputable company. read more

Just got finished with my pool remodel. Mike and this talented team did not change the shape of my pool they just made it look so modern and beautiful. They added the jacuzzi so replumbed the entire yard. .. replaced the coping and tile and added minipebble. Oh we switched to salt water so that was included. They are very detail oriented and stayed true to our budget. They are going to be our regular maintenance team now. The entire process did take a few months but that was expected with all the other work we had being done. They got started just a couple weeks after we signed the contract. Great job team! read more

Absolutely horrendous experience from this company that my home warranty refered over. Two months dealing with a broken pool heater that clearly needs a replacement and nothing. I called my warranty company and they said they haven't even seen a claim. They are unprofessional and lie to you every time they open their mouths. They told me no appointments until next Thursday to come for the third time to "service" the same problem. I called the warranty company and now magically a Monday appointment opened up. I wish Yelp allowed 0 star rating! I got routed to these guys through my home insurance company. They came to fix our pool salt system 3 times, didn't leave any paper work, and every time they left things in the same condition as before. Also, they can't give you a window of time where the tech will be at the property. So in order to be home and find out what exactly they are doing (or not doing!!) I as a working individual had to take a whole day off and wait for someone to call me!!!! REALLY?????????????? So my 3rd appointment, I asked my husband to take few hours from work and stay home since I was told someone is going to call me in the morning. 10:15 I call them asking when someone is going to actually call and confirm the appointment and all I heard was that your appointment will be scheduled for Thursday since we are short staffed!! No call, no notice, nothing! And when I complained, all I was told was "call your insurance company and go with another pool service" How professional?? The receptionist who answers the calls is SO rude and unprofessional. No respect, no customer service and no apology what so ever!! They shouldn't be in public service business at all!! We purchased a home with an older pool. We had received 4 estimates to have the pool re-surfaced. We chose San Dieguito and we could not be more pleased. Mike came right out and he was completely honest with us in what and how we wanted things done. He explained why to do things a different way, he never once tried to pressure us. If I could give this place less than 1 star I would. Pool always looked terrible. You ask them to do better and they don't. Ask them what the issue is with the vaccum in the pool and they don't do any troubleshooting. Then they cancel you as their client after they automatically take payments from your credit card. Couldn't have asked for a better experience. Mike personally came out and consulted the proposed project in detail and didn't try to sell me stuff, but explained what things I didn't need that other pool companies said I did. In the end he saved me well over 5K compared to the other quotes I got. I don't know how the guy makes a profit with his prices. The work included resurfacing the entire pool, laying down the tiles, installing new top of the line heaters for both the jacuzzi and pool (which was impossible to heat before - now I can on the occasional gatherings), improving the filter system, making the air jet nozzles more powerful and replacing the old lights for new LED ones, and last but not least he switched my pool from chlorine to salt - a move I really recommend! Another thing, I was having problems over the past FIVE YEARS where the metal housing of the pool lights caused discoloration due to rust and oxidization from a chemical reaction on the pool walls. He finally fixed that problem on the first try by using a different type alloy for the light's housing. Guy is a genius. All this work was done well over a year ago (around fall 2013) and everything has performed as it did on day one. Where do I start to review this horrible company, we rented a house and the management company hired them For the last four months we were there, below are bullet points of what happened and yes this actually happened and it's documented: 1. Out of 20 or so scheduled appointments between weekly service and technician servicing the pump and doubling up on the shock treatments, they missed or rescheduled more than 1/2 of them. 2. Josh the main service guy with them is absolutely terrible at his job, first he miss-diagnosis the problem and then blames us the renters for the problem. 3. Josh proved himself to be untruthful in his dealings with us and the management company, he would say anything to cover his A**. 4. Josh and two other technicians shocked the pool three times in a two week period and never came back to vacuum up any of the loose algae making the problem worse and that in turn clogged the filtration system so bad that it caused several leaks because of the pressure. 5. Chuy is the only bright spot in this whole company as he seemed to know what he was doing but only came out when other techs no showed or got sick or??? If he quits the whole company will shut down and cease to exist. There's so much more, but I'll stop here. Stay away from San Dequito pools!! read more

Can I give 0 stars? I wish I could. My work pool boiler went down. I was recommended by another pool company to contact San Dieguito Pools as they were the preferred warranty company in San Diego for the boiler we had (Pentaire). They agreed to come out Friday (the next day). When it was noon on Friday and they still hadn't arrived I called and they indicated that they were not going to be able to come out. They apologized but stated that they could put me on the schedule for Monday 3 days later! They wasted a full 24 hours of our time because if they were not able to come out I would have found someone else. Now we are unable to find anyone to come out to repair our boiler...ridiculous. read more

Should be 2 1/2 stars but I'm not moving to 3 stars: Vacuum pump went out and I went through my home warranty (old republic). The first assigned contractor never contacted me (and I do not hunt down contractors) if they want the work they need to make the call. So I asked for San Dieguito Pools and Old Republic approved. I got a call pretty quick and a service appointment subsequently followed. All good but unfortunately during the pump install the employee had a medical emergency so I reversed the customer service, called 911, attended to the employee, called his wife from his cell phone, called San Dieguito Pools to notify them etc. Thats called customer service in reverse. The pump install was on hold and SDP dispatched another employee to finish up, in which he did. All good. Spot on... Since the pump went out originally and I simultaneously had my roof re-roofed, the pool was a disaster. So I decided to drain it, clean it and start with a fresh batch of water. The spa light and pool light stainless steel face plates were corroded and after searching Amazon for parts (which were shipping in multiple shipments) I said screw it, lets call the pros at San Dieguito Pools. I call and I'm told they were busy this week (this was last week) but they would be over Wednesday (maybe Tuesday). The Tuesday teaser never happened and neither did the Wednesday appointment. I call to inquire? "Oh, you need an estimate... " Duh, that's why I called the first time, "ok we'll be there Friday and take some pictures of your parts so we can expedite the visit". Okey dokey. Click click and whoosh, away they go through the magic of email. Friday comes SDP is a no show with no courtesy call. Screwed again. This has been a nightmare. Old Republic Insurance Company referred them. San Dieguito Pool company doesn't care about the customer. They got paid and left my pool equipment unfinished. Brian came out 4 times and at the end my filtration system is worse than before. My actuators don't work anymore and weren't even put back in place. What a joke. I have asked for the owner to call me and he has not returned my call. Stay away from this dishonest company. I will file a complaint with the insurance company and bbb. read more

I received a pool equipment repair estimate from this company to install a new filter and replace the existing salt cell chlorinator with a new O.E.M. salt cell, that they knew in advance that I would purchase myself. The written estimate cited 1 hour of labor to install the salt cell and a flapper kit @$150/ hr. I decided to only do the salt cell replacement and notified the company, which said they would send a new written estimate. In the meantime, I lost my wife unexpectedly. While dealing with the grief and stress of handling my wife's estate responsibilities, I forgot about the new estimate that was sent, which had a new labor rate of $350/ hr. I approved the salt cell replacement thinking the labor rate had stayed the same as the original estimate. The replacement was completed in about 30 minutes. When I received the bill for $350, I pulled up all the emails from this company to see why the bill seemed too high. That's when I realized they more than doubled their hourly labor rate for less labor. When I called the company to inquire, I was essentially told that they sent me a new estimate with the higher rate and I approved the work, therefore, too bad. They tried to justify the increase based on the fact that they were installing a customer provided part. What it really means is that they were going to make up for the fact that I wasn't buying the heavily marked up salt cell from them. I was told that "Kyle" made the decision to overcharge on labor when the customer provides the parts. The funny thing is that they gave me both estimates knowing I was providing the parts myself. When I told the girl on the phone that seems very shady, she responded Well, I'm sorry you feel that way. The repair guy was great, the company, not so much. read more

They are not the cheapest service in town, but it does not get better than these guys. They are Pentair Factory Certified and we had some new LED pool lights to install. We first tried our regular pool company and they could not get the new wire through the conduit, so they recommended we give SDPC a try. Brian and Travis were dispatched and were able to get the job done where others had failed. They also pointed out a few issues observed onsite and I appreciate that. I was not planning on upgrading the spa light, but since they were coming back onsite I had them do that light too. read more

I called the office on Aug 16. 2018 to schedule a repair on my pool main pump for filtration. The pressure was extremely low and I was concerned that the pump would burn itself out. They sold and installed the pump about 9 years ago. The office scheduled a service call the next day (Friday) Great. Friday comes and the call me in the AM that they can not make it until the next Tuesday. Not so fine but OK. Tuesday comes and I wait for their call all day. No call no nothing. So I burned a whole day waiting for them. I was a business man most of my life and that is not the way to treat a customer. Wednesday domes and I disassembled the pump and cleaned the palm seeds out of the impeller and I am good to go. They lost a customer and I saved some money. read more

The reason I first used the company was because the previous owner used them. Dealing with enough changes when moving houses I figured this would be one less thing to be concerned with. From day one of the relationship the spa would not work when I would need it to most, which was hosting people at my new home. The previous owner said they had no problem with the spa and soon as I moved in it became a nightmare scenario. Each time the pool technician would show up they would do something to make it work and then shortly after leaving the spa would not work again. At one point in time the entire spa emptied and was at risk of drying out and cracking until I expressed great distress of this issue. The worst aspect of the relationship was when I was told about upgrading to a new wonderful program that would control all the features of my pool and backyard by phone. After more issues with the spa and thousands of dollars later I decided to move on to another company called Clear Expectations which has been a dream come true. When they saw the recent upgrade to a phone operated system they asked why I was using this option. I said the other company recommend it to me. He then politely pointed out another system that was much more user friendly and did not have to plug in directly to your internet causing less system failures. All of this for the same price. I was obviously disappointed that the other company did not point me into this direction. When asking San Dieguito Pool to remove the outdated system they recommended (one week after install) they charged me a 44% restocking fee, which led to this Yelp review. I would not trust my poo or spa to this company. They do not provide the most up to date products for your needs. They do not keep a detailed file of your pool and spa requiring you to have to setup your own management system on maintaining the program. Lastly, when they could not satisfy my needs from a pool/spa company they were not eager to make me satisfied for the lack of value they provided. I read the other reviews and was a bit surprised. My experience with this company was quite good. I was referred to them by my pool guy for heater repairs. They have made two visits to my house and fixed the problem both time. I thought they were reasonably priced, they came when they said they would and completed the work quickly and told me what happened. I did not even have to be home. The technicians explain things and are knowledgeable, respectful, and friendly. They always let me know when they'll show up; they always come when they say they will; they've always fixed my problems to my satisfaction; and the office staff have always been helpful and friendly. Well I decided to write a review for these pool people because I was so happy with them and was very surprised to see some poor reviews. I will say my experience was the complete opposite of what those poor reviews have stated. I was recommended to them by my home warranty people after they had sent two different companies various times to my home to repair brand new pool equipment installed incorrectly. I had been without a proper running system for 5 month and my pool was a mess. Finally home warranty said they would send a "specialized service" provider. This is when San Dieguito Pool came to my rescue. They were great all the way arround. They gave me an appt right away, they called the morning of and gave me a.two hour window. Showed up did their work and follow up. The office staff was nice and very helpful. I didn't get any paperwork as one mentioned but honestly didn't need it because i didn't have to pay for it. But in retrospect would have been nice for the files. My regular pool service guy couldn't work on my system because we didn't want to void warranty on new equipment but when I told him who was coming he was happy because he said these people really know what they are doing. This company handled my pool service and then installation of a heater, salt chlorinater and filter. They gave me a quote for the equipment, but I was able to find it elsewhere. I told them the price and asked if they could beat it. They were unable to, but said they would still install the equipment for an extra $500 than quoted earlier. The chlorinater was not installed correctly to "recommended standards" set by the company, even though San Diego Pool Center is one of their service people. In fact, it was installed upside down without a stop gap. I purchased a $1000 circuit board that the installer said he could not use and "would exchange" at his cost. It turns out that he took the $1000 board and put in a a $100 board. It turns out the entire set of equipment wasn't working correctly and I contacted this company repeatedly. They were rude, not helpful, until I contacted another company. I went out of town and one of their installers showed up and put in another circuit board inside the house. He had to come back 4 times and it still did not work correctly. I contacted San Dieguito again and they refused to fix it. I had to pay another company to originally assess the issues and they then came back to fix the board. San Dieguito refuses to fix their work, will take advantage of you and has complete disregard for it's customers. In retrospect, I have heard tons of similar stories. read more

They took control of the situation and worked with the technical folks at the manufacturer until the issue was resolved. Mike gave me a fair quote and he also was on target with the time it would take and expectations for this project. He went above and beyond with customer service and was always there to check on daily status, I could reach him any time of day and his staff were friendly and accommodating. When I booked my equipment review and filter cleaning, the employee was more than professional and the appointment was more than expected...very happy. I was more than happy to employ this company with my pool cleaning needs following my initial experience. While the first cleaning visit seemed to go well, I just had my second visit today, and their employee was very unprofessional, and even went as far to say that they hated this pool, and that they were very busy, and didn't want to be here because it was out of their way, and they didn't want to be here. They told me that I should leave them to their work and that they would get my pool back to where it should be. I will leave the foul language they used off of this post, but needless to say, this second visit was less than professional, and I do not intend on using this company further. I am new to area and new to owning a pool. San Dieaguito Pool Center was great. The office (Diane) was polite and efficient and scheduled me quickly. The Service Guy (Gabon) was also fantastic. As a newbie pool owner, I had a ton of questions. He put in a new energy saving variable speed Pentair pump and motor. Gabon was patient and answered all my questions while remaining diligent to doing the work well. He spent a lot of extra time with me even though I was his first appointment and he had 7 more after me that day. So, hire-ups if Gabon falls behind schedule please give this excellent employee a break. All and all customer service was excellent across the board.
