I mean, when I was a kid...I was happy to use any pool over the summer...but my kids have a choice of fantastic city owned pools. Las Posas pool is smaller than Woodland Park pool- there's no diving board but it's heated and there is a fun splash pad. The shaded area is smaller than woodland park pool...something to keep in mind. The lifeguards are friendly and enforce rules. I prefer Woodland Park pool simply because it's closer to my house and there's more shade, but Las Posas still earns 5 stars!

I should've written an update when it was a solid 5…read morestars but this summer (2025), the City of San Marcos partnered with Premier Aquatics and unfortunately, sometimes with change, things go a bit downhill. Before Premier Aquatics, there were plenty of chairs and lounge chairs in the shade, the pool was open during the summer 7 days a week, 12-5, and every Friday night was 'Family Nights' from 6-8. The lifeguards brought out a huge obstacle course and all the kids loved it. Not anymore. The pool is open less hours for recreational swim. M-Th 12-3. F-Su 12-5. There are way less chairs, and no more 'Family Nights'. It's pretty obvious why the rec hours are limited...Premier Aquatics makes more money off swim lessons than they do with recreational swim. They offer more pool passes at different price points, but none of them are through the City of San Marcos. You're buying it straight through Premier Aquatics. My kids still enjoy it, but....meh. 3 stars.

They have monthly and multi-monthly passes, I got four months for $60. They also have swimming lessons, including the one I tried, "drop-ins" on Monday and Wednesday nights, where I got one-on-one instruction on improving my technique. I think that they told us 2 gallons when we called. I couldn't even get through a shower without it running out. We called because we thought maybe it could be fixed but they let us know the water heater is small but they have public showers available. Since it was hot I toughed it out. My brother stayed in the mansion and it had a bad smell in it. It bothered his girlfriend a lot. They did have AC and their hot water was fine. Their trailer also did not lock from the outside. The trailers are cute, and we liked the vintage decor but they need some work done. I feel like their trailers have a lot of potential if they would just invest in them a bit. My husband and I stayed at another location that had vintage trailers. They were definitely nicer. AC, hot water, new linoleum, locks and keys, and did not have a bad smell. I hope that pinecrest can improve their vintage trailers. I think that if they improved them they would have a lot more return business.
