Really good sandwich, had the pork with sharp cheddar and peppers. Bread was very fresh, sandwich was juicy but bread held up well without falling apart. I love finding little food treasures tucked into neighborhoods. I recently moved to Phoenixville and found this place the day I moved in. I had the roast pork and spinach sandwich that day and couldn't stop saying Yum. The small is big enough for leftovers. Today I went again and had a prime rib sandwich--excellent! I think I like it better than the pork, although it is pretty close. He brings in pierogies and kielbasa from Port Richmond in Philly. It is nice to have a source for fresh pierogies in my neighborhood. I highly recommend checking this place out--the owner is a nice local guy too. read more

We had Wasko's cater our department Pre-Thanksgiving Party. Delish!!!!!!! We had the hot roast beef and the roast pork. They were both out of this world. This has become my new favorite place for a quick meal! Like the owner says, he's got me "hooked!" Reminds me of the old school delis from New York. After moving here, I drive by this store twice a day two and from work and never stopped in. Finally decided to give it a whirl one afternoon and walked in. I ordered a prime rib sub with sharp provolone. Even after my mile walk back in the cold, when I got it home it was still hot! I loved it! I haven't tried anything else besides that so far (once I get something I LOVE, I tend to eat that until I'm sick of it!) They have daily specials, which always sound good, and I think I'll try one next time I stop in. The owner is very friendly! He always talks to me while I wait for my sub (or zep/hoagie as you Philly natives refer to them). I come in nearly once a week - will continue to do so! read more

Tried a sandwich for the first time recently after all the raves about the pork sandwich. So naturally, I chose the roast pork sandwich. The sandwich was simple - roast pork and sharp provolone. The bread was fresh and soft. The ratio of filling to bread was balanced correctly. The bread is often the "meat" of the sandwich and the fillings take a back seat at so many sandwich shops - NOT at this one. The pork was flavorful, moist and contrasted wonderfully with the tangy zip of the sharp provolone. This little place should be one of those places featured in the likes of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives hosted by Guy Fieri - nothing fancy, hidden hole-in-the wall type place - but packs a wallop of a sandwich. Filled cabbage is homemade (right at the shop) and fresh pierogies are offered as well as specials. Since my first sandwich several weeks ago, I patroned again! Great spot to grab a great sandwich and some good homemade specials. The price is very reasonable - actually a bit on the lower price end compared to other places - its a steal! Wasko's in Phoenixville has the best sandwiches I have ever had in my life. I have had their Roast Pork with provolone and broccoli rabe, and the Prime Rib Wrangler with horseradish and hot peppers. Meats and cheese are awesome, very moist and flavorful...Every time I have been here the food is delicious. Sandwiches are about 6-9 bucks It is Cash Only which can be a drawback but doesn't matter to me. I like to help out small businesses and use cash anyway. Also, the inside is a bit small, and there's not much of a seating or waiting area. Best for take out. read more

This place is disgusting! There is trash everywhere, flies on everything, and your shoes stick to the floor. It even smells dirty. The person running the counter was watching TV and eating when I came in and was sorely in need of a clean apron. He used a dirty knife to cut my sandwich in half. The sandwich itself was not good. The only reason I am giving them just two stars is because the place is so dirty and unkept. I was in there today and got the pork with broccoli rabe and provolone and it was excellent. However, it is difficult to get past the clutter and crap laying all over the place. Newspapers, trash, even dumb bells. I guess they guy likes to lift weights when he is not busy. But just laying there on the floor? I don't know what kind of business they do, but I would guess that if they cleaned up and made the place look nicer inside, their business would double. Also, the guy behind the counter could be a little nicer. Just very cold and sort of on the grumpy side. A little smile goes a long way. read more

Well I'm a guy that grew up outside of Norristown, PA and loved the local sandwiches. Zeps, Roast Pork, etc. are a favorite of mine. I moved to northern Virginia ten years ago and always search for restaurants that can replicate the tastes that I grew up with. Well needless to say I cant find any worth mentioning. While back in PA visiting, I was jones-ing for a roast pork sandwich. Since the area has changed quite a bit, I used YELP and it was all good. I found Wasko's on Gay Street. What a pleasant surprise. Nothing fancy and no ambiance to speak of, but the food was great. When you walked in the door you could smell all the tell tale aromas of a real hometown sandwich shop. The bread, the pork, sauce, peppers, etc. I looked at the wall menu and ordered a roast pork with provolone and roasted long hot peppers. The sandwich could rival anything you could find in Norristown, or South Philly for that matter. The roll was perfect (always from Conshy) and the pork was done just right with perfect seasoning. It was so good that I also tried a zep which was also excellent. I would be willing to take any friend/critic to Wasko's and spring for lunch if they thought that the food was anything less than excellent. Again, this is coming from a guy who grew up loving Italian food. If you think that Jerry's or Subway make great sandwiches don't bother visiting. But if you are looking for an old family style sandwich shop at a great value then stop in... You wont be disappointed! read more
