We stopped by on a Saturday afternoon to order takeout and we were far from disappointed. We were pleasantly surprised to find out they are a family-owed restaurant! We always try to eat at a mom-and-pop while traveling. Andrew went in to order and it took about 15 minutes to finish. He said the employee working the register was very helpful and friendly. She gave us recommendations on what to try, which seems rare these days. While waiting for our food, Andrew said another customer was raving about how good their food is. I ordered the small cheesesteak with a side of macaroni salad and Andrew ordered the regular outlander with medium fries. We were recommended to try pepper Jack cheese on our sandwiches and that I try the macaroni salad. I've never had macaroni salad like the one they make and it's sad to think I might never get the chance to again. The sandwiches were SO good and basically melted in our mouths. The portions were much larger than expected, allowing us to save half of our sandwiches for leftovers. I thought about those leftovers for DAYS before we got to them. We all know by now that Andrew and I don't eat leftovers. The only downfall we had was it took us about 10-20 minutes to find the restaurant. On maps, it says it's located at Texas Roadhouse, but it's further back by Kids First Swim School. This isn't a huge deal, I get it. I ordered a cheesesteak with my step-dad. It was the same identical cheesesteak. His came out fast and I had to remind them to make mine. My cheesesteak comes out 15 minutes later, and they weren't busy. The customer service sucks. I asked the young lady to fill the ketchup dispenser and she ignored me. My buddy and I stopped in here on a Saturday afternoon. We got a California chicken cheesesteak and a "422" I believe it was called which is a beef cheesesteak with cooper cheese which also had pork roll chipped up and fried in with the beef. The lady at the counter was very helpful and both sandwiches were excellent. We each cut our sandwich in half and split it with each other. We both agreed the sandwiches were excellent and weed would both stop back. I'm not sure where they get their rolls but I took half my sandwich home and reheated it in a toaster oven and it was still very crispy and held up well. Onion rings were (as the millennial hipsters say) "legit" as was the boom boom sauce for dipping. Excellent service and very friendly! Finally got to Jays steaks and was not disappointed. They offer seeded and non seeded rolls, Cooper sharp, and fresh sliced ribeye. All the key ingredient for a good steak sandwich. Also like their fries onions. Interestingly they only offer small and medium steaks, no large on the menu, but I do see it listed at the bottom of their menu in the "about our bread" section. Steak was good, no doubt, but I felt it was just a little small for 12$. (I got the medium). Nice people working, very friendly in a no frills environment. They have some interesting sandwich options, perogies, and empanadas on the menu. I may try their burger next. Service was ridiculously slow the environment was literally like eating in a laundry mat with tables it was stark and horrible ! Please let me start by saying I do not like to write negative reviews...I usually just commit to not patroning an establishment when I've more than 1 bad experience. The sandwiches are quite delicious and that is why I keep giving them a chance, but the customer service is just plain awful. I have never been able to order and get out of there sooner than 25-30 minutes (usually I order 3 cheesesteaks for my family). Today I ordered 2 small cheesesteaks and an order of fries...I kept waiting and waiting as customer after customer ordered and got their food. Finally, I asked and someone from the back yelled out that my order was out long ago. So they messed up...instead of trying to make it right from the gecko, they start arguing with one another about how the mistake happened. No apology. I asked if they could comp something for this order or at least something for the future. When my order finally came out after 40 minutes of waiting...she stapled a $3 off $20 coupon to my bag. Have to say the food was good. On another note, we were there today and while waiting noticed that none of the tables were wiped down, the floors and under the tables were not very clean. After eating I went into the restroom and there was no toilet paper anywhere, small flies flying around, the trash cans looked like it hadn't been emptied in days it was so full as was the one in the front. Someone walked out from the kitchen with gloves on, turned a tv on touching the remote and returning to the kitchen. Unsanitary and cross contamination. I will reiterate that Jay's Steaks are great. I had one two weeks ago - it was exceptional. I am likely never going to come back, though. I stopped in tonight to get a steak for my wife and I to split. The man in front of me ordered and when he was done the girl working the counter said 'you can give a tip if you want to.' His order was completed and a screen showed possible tips he might offer. Do I need to explain why this is offensive? A tip is for hospitality service, this was not the case. If this were the custom, then everyone working a register should be getting a tip? In any case, asking about a tip is offensive. The business obviously supports this with part of the checkout process being a screen that proposes gratuity amounts? read more

The food was awesome: bread was warm and soft, sauce was flavorful, cheese was perfectly melted. They just opened and we figured we'd support a local small business for lunch. I placed my order for 2 sandwiches and was told to come pick it up 32 minutes later at 7:00. Seemed a bit long, but it was Saturday night so ok. Got there at 7 and there were a bunch of people standing around waiting for food. The person at the counter was just standing there and not asking anyone if they needed help. When I asked about my order I was told it was being made. Orders trickled out of the kitchen. I didn't receive mine until I waited there 40 minutes, so 72 minutes after placing my order. The staff was not apologetic in the least for the wait. I was hungry so just rushed home to eat my cheesesteak. I had a cheesesteak from there before not long after they opened and thought the flavor was good, but the steak wasn't as broken up as I am used too. Decided to give them another chance. This time the steak was broken up to the extent that there was no texture left. Asked for sauce and fried onions and it was swimming in sauce and extremely greasy. So lots of red greasy sauce and no meat texture. The cheese was all glopped on the top of the sandwich. I couldn't even make it through half of the sandwich and definitely stopped when I bit into a big tough piece of onion skin. I will not be returning again because of the all around bad experience between bad service and bad food. Maybe I caught them on a bad night, but that's all it takes.
