Wassi's remains my number one place to buy quality meats. Yes they are more expensive than a normal grocery store but you get what you pay for. They truly stand behind their products. We love going on Saturdays to sample various things from the Big Green Egg. It's a good time to ask questions about their products. Everyone is always so helpful. If you're looking to brush up on your grilling skills, check out one of their classes. They offer an extensive selection of Big Green Egg accessories too! Their wine and craft beer selection is great also.

Wonderful wonderful wonderful. Super nice people. The smell outside OMG... the food they are cooking...delicious. The food you can get on the inside ... awesome. You don't even touch anything, they take your name and you pick it up at the register. You should go here and spend some ducks for a nice home cooked meal. You can also take classes for grilling. Do yourself and those you care about- Go to Wassi's.

This is butcher shop like no other butcher shop I've ever been in, and I was totally amazed! Yes, they got meat - and lots of it, but! Wassi's is so, so much more than great meats. First off, they're open six days a week with generous hours - many butchers don't keep these hours anymore. In their 30+ plus years in existence, they've learned well what their customers want. They offer incredible meats and I'm not talking run-of-the mill stuff... exquisite variety, styles, types, not to mention incredible cuts. They offer domestic, Aussie and Japanese wagyu beef! USDA prime dry aged meats! Home-made sausages and pork! And not only that, but they can help you both get the grills (in stock) you need and/or give you all the advice you need to make your grilling, smoking and/or BBQ the best it can be. Not only that, but they offer a vast array of rubs, seasonings, utensils... you name it. I'm aghast at this place. Kudos Wassi's, you're the bomb when it comes to all thing's meat, and then some!

Wassi's Meat Market is located in a small shopping plaza that has definitely seen better days. In fact, when I pulled into this shopping plaza and saw Wassi's Meat Market, I had to wonder if the place was still in business. There was no.open sign or anything else and honestly, from the outside, Wassi's Meat Market gives no true indication what it does. Once you walk inside, you will be more than pleasantly surprised. Wassi's Meat Market is by no means a large place, but they have a lot of great items inside and it is pleasantly laid out. As the name would imply, Wassi's Meat Market offers a nice selection of meat. This selection includes USDA Prime and Wagyu. I ended up picking up a USDA Prime tri-tip for about eleven dollars a pound. In addition to selling Meat, Wassi's Meat Market sells spices and also sells items like the Big Green Egg, outdoor pizza ovens and the like. The service here was exceptional. They truly understand the term customer service. I would definitely recommend Wassi's Meat Market and give it five stars.

I have lived in the area since 1978 and Wassi's has been around for more than 30 years but up until this week our paths never crossed. Were it not for a gift card I got for Christmas we very well may never have met. :) The first thing I noticed was how spotlessly clean the place was. Well-lit and nicely set up. The staff, although young, was amazingly knowledgeable and helpful. I browsed a while and finally said I was ready. I started off with a pound of in-house made Italian sausages and 3 large and thick T-bones. Figuring that killed my $100 gift card I asked for the total and was surprised on how much was left on it. I added 3 large and thick filet mignons, grabbed a package of in-house-made macaroni salad and headed to the checkout. The girl there told me I had $12+ left on the card and suggested the daily special of 3 stuffed (very thick) pork chops ... 3 for $12. When all was said and done I had 75 cents left on the card so I guess I need to make a trip back ;). All kinds of condiments, side dishes, spices and rubs and more. They are also one the state's largest Big Green Egg retailers and even offer cooking classes! Everyone treated me like I was special and they had no problem wrapping each of the steaks and chops separately in butcher paper. I will be back!

You can tell the owners put love into every detail including picking their wines locally and internationally. You can stop by any day of the week, load money on a card and taste 16 different wines from a self serving tap. My personal favorites were Rioja, Sangue Di Giuda and the Chardonnay. The Rioja is similar to Cabernet Sauvignon, but it also has a fruity character. If you love Cabernet but are also looking for the dominant cherry flavor, this is the perfect wine for you. The Sangue Di Giuda, which means "Blood of Judas", is more of a deep, slightly sparkling and delectably sweet red wine. Chardonnay is my go to when I want a nice glass of wine after work. Although it typically has fruit flavors, it's a dry white wine. It pairs perfectly with seafood or baked chicken. We purchased a bottle of Lumbrusco and we sat and enjoyed the atmosphere and great conversation with the owner. They were right, they made us feel at home. Some of the shelf stable items are sourced from Italy like flour and Extra Virgin Olive Oil. The entire experience feels as if you are visiting a good friend in Italy. We normally eat early and fast. At this experience we savored each course and paired it with wines suggested by Silvia and others in our party who had an interest in wine. Every bite was wonderful. We finished at 9:30pm and felt perfectly satisfied. The next morning my wife and I both noticed no reflux. Great mixture of select wine and foods from Italy. Sylvia was so nice and informative; offering wine to pair with our orders along with detailed explanations of Italian cooking and courtier. We were the only ones dining for lunch so we had a lovely time. The food parade started with the Zucchini Blossom (filled with mozzarella cheese) - OMG was that delicious. On to the next tapa was the Summer Capri - OMG 2 with an 18yo balsamic. Next up was the Pizza Alta Pisana - hands down THE BEST pizza we've EVER had. Made with the same 72hr dough as the Focaccia and with grated parmigiana cheese instead of mozzarella. Half with capers and drizzled with EVOO. Sylvia suggested Moscato for my sweet tooth queen and me a cab blend that was hearty without the sulfates. For the grand finale, we had homemade Profiteroles with cream and dark chocolate. Grand slam! HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS FINE ESTABLISHMENT for lunch or dinner. Call for reservations Thank you Franco and Sylvia - we'll see you soon

Unfortunately a lot of the execution fell a bit flat, especially after both the menu and it's prices had set our expectations otherwise. The amuse bouche was definitely a palate awakener.. a mix of olive tapenade and vinegary mustard. It wasn't for us, but if the goal was to wake up our mouths, it worked. Then hubs had the scallop appetizer with bacon maple marmalade. He thought it was too sweet, I didn't mind it. Scallops were cooked well. I had the mussels from Brussels, a bit clumsy to eat as the mussels were in their shells and the thin Brussel leaves were scattered within/around, all on a bed of pureed potatoes. But a nice flavor and a good portion size. Then i moved on to the beet salad, which was my least favorite. A dish I enjoy at a lot of restaurants, all with different plating/approaches, this one was clunky, the beets were cut thicker than usual, plated with large proportion dwarfing the citrus and the cheese was presented in medium size encrusted balls. It lacked elegance or delicateness, the flavors didn't really meld as they should. Hubs and I then moved to the main course. I had the crispy gnocci app as my main, which was fine, nothing special and hubs had the catch #2 a tile fish that was just ok. We finished our drinks, opted for dessert elsewhere. They've been around a long time, so I'm sure we will try again in another couple years.

THIS PLACE IS NOT CLOSED. IT JUST MOVED UPSTAIRS…read more I hope you're ready to read a dissertation, cuz I have a lot to write. lol. This past weekend we got to enjoy a really delicious and fun evening at the East End Market for our friend's birthday. La Femme du Fromage Upstairs is a private dining experience on the second floor of the popular East End Market, just above Domu. Dining here is by reservation only, so make sure to plan ahead. We had a group of 12 people, which was the max capacity this place can hold. This is a personalized dinner and wine pairing curated by the owner of La Femme, Tonda. She and her team took great care of feeding and entertaining us for a little over the 3 hours that we were there. The food was excellently prepared by Chef Dale and our table service was handled by Rob, who made sure our wines and drinks were always filled throughout the evening. Tonda is an expert in wines and cheeses, with over 30 years in the industry, traveling the world to learn the intricacies of both. Every course she brought out, she explained the history of the wine that was paired with it. Every cheese we tried, she explained what animal it was from and how it's prepared. She's such a burst of energy as well. You can really tell she loves what she does. Our first course (which I sadly forgot to take a picture of because I immediately inhaled it all) was a Brie fondue that was infused with champagne, shallots, garlic, and was topped with crab meat. Served with sides of roasted cauliflower, roasted carrots, apple slices, and a tasty crusty bread. (I cant for the life of me, remember what type it was) This dish was paired with a glass of Simonet Blanc de Blancs, a sparkling white wine. Every time I emptied my glass, Rob was nearby to immediately refill it. It was awesome! Our second course was a charcuterie plate of 3 cheeses, fresh blueberries and grapes, and wagyu beef salami. The first cheese presented was a soft spreadable sheep's cheese that was infused with truffle. It was earthy and nutty, and I was blown away by how velvety it was. The second cheese (and my personal favorite) was a coffee infused cow's cheese. I loved it so much that I also purchased a small block of it from Tonda at the end of the evening! The third cheese, if I remember correctly, was a hard goat cheese that was nutty and had a really cool texture when eating. The wagyu beef salami was amazing and paired really well with every cheese. All this was paired with a glass of Mommessin Beaujolais Villages, a fruity red wine. And of course, Rob was always ready to swing by and refill my glass when needed! The third course was a beef tenderloin, served with a side of asparagus and aligot, all topped with a delicious gravy. The beef was super tender, the asparagus still had a nice bite to it, and this was also my first time trying aligot. If you don't know what it is, it's a VERY cheesy mashed potato, and it's AWESOME! lol. This dish was paired with a glass of El Enemigo Malbec, a darker red wine from Mendoza. And yet again, my boy Rob was on deck to keep it coming! (I'm gonna shout out every chance I get) Finally for dessert, we had little vanilla and lemon shortcakes, topped with fresh strawberries and whipped cream. The cakes were moist and buttery and the strawberries were bright and lightly tart. The dessert was paired with a glass of Vietti Moscato d'Asti, a sweet sparkling white wine. This sweet wine was PERFECT for the sweet spongey cake. It was an absolutely delicious pairing. (And you already know Rob was getting the refill in) For anyone crazy enough to actually read all this. I hope you have the chance to go out and enjoy this place sometime. Tonda has a really special little spot here, and it deserves all the praise it gets. Chef Dale is a master of his craft, the food was amazing. And Rob is a damn good server who made sure we were always well taken care of. We will definitely be back soon, Tonda. Thank you for an awesome evening!
