I have had three gray bins for a very, very long time, this has never been an issue, I was always under the impression you are allowed pick up of all the yard waste you needed without extra charge? Of course, I do not fill them EVERY week, I go for weeks at a time sometimes not even putting out my trash bin! Suddenly instead of ninety sone odd dollar bill, the bill was one hundred , seventy, seven, bill says I have two green barrels=no extra charge, one gray =no extra, it says the eighty five extra was for two green TOTERS, so I call, they say they have to send someone out, I had to call two more times before I was notified that I have three GRAY waste bins and they have no intention of removing the charge? They did say I was allowed two green and two gray, I have one green, 3 gray, so even if that was the problem, I should have only been charged for one, but I am not being charged extra for bins, it is toters, which I DO NOT HAVE! If I had a choice, I would have returned the bin sooner, otherwise for $85 I would have rather had another blue bin to throw whatever I wanted in there instead of paying to throw away green waste they turn and sell for mulch, total rip off! FYI, don't take it out on the employees, I hear the ones in the office have to raise their hands and get permission to go to the restroom #careergoals#, that is pathetic, it is not their fault the policies the company they work for suck! read more

Waste Management seems to have quite a problem with their drivers. Keeping in mind that I pay good money for trash services, you would think that the drivers would show up when they are supposed to, and that has not always been the case. I also had one driver claim to have made a supposed pick up and he had never showed up. I had another driver who I saw upon arrival that he was leaving my property and when I checked on the trash dumpster, it was still full of trash. I chased him down and had him return and empty the dumpster. I have had to complain to one of the managers -Mr. John Welson at (661)510-1881 and even to Jacqueline Mercado with some degree of improvement, however, not to long ago their trash truck damaged my solar light at my entry gate while the driver was backing up. I complained to Jacqueline and heard nothing back, then wrote an e-mail to Mr. Welson and also heard nothing back. I finally called and spoke to Mr. Welson and from there eventually I got a call from a Mr. Andrew White of their legal team at (636)922-7979. no one from WM or Mr. White (as far as I know) ever came out to look at the damaged solar panel, and Mr. White stated that they were going to send me a denial letter based on my photos and video I sent from my security camera. I truly was surprised that no one could figure out that my security camera was not pointing up at the sky instead of the lower area of coverage. The upper part of the large truck was the part that struck my light and solar panel attached to upper part of the pole and therefore could not be seen on the photo or video, however, the truck can be seen inches from the pole in my attached photo (lower left corner) that is not a shadow of the pole, but the actual pole itself. The light does not function the same as before , such as sensor detecting someone close and making light brighter as it use to. The money for the light was not all that important, it is the principal and need to take some responsibility for who they (WM) hire and how this company does its business and recommend seeking another company if available. read more

Waste Management the WORST! Failed to pick up my trash 12/02, driver LIED about time he was there & accessibility, called WM, promised pick up later that day or by noon 12/03 latest. Called 2x after noon 12/03, promised pick up by 7 pm, NOTHING! I have an incident #. I have used my 2 landfill vouchers for the year so a friend offered me his as he doesn't use them. He called customer service and added my name to his account for a specific day. I sat in line for 30 minutes and when the employee at the window checked the account, I was informed that I was not on it so had to turn around and go home or pay the ridiculous price of $60+ per ton. This is the second time this has happened. I called customer service and they would not even check the accounts to see if I was on it. WM used to sent out vouchers so you had some paper proof when you went to the landfill. No more, rates keep increasing and service keeps getting worse. It's criminal that they have a monopoly on trash service in the area. I have service at a rental in an unincorporated city as well. I pay higher monthly costs and don't even get a landfill voucher or any large item pickup. They only allow 2 free dump days a year on the day they choose and hope you miss them. read more

The WORST ever! Overpriced, under performing, incompetent company I've ever dealt with

It seems that they don't take care of the containers because the customers have to live with lids broken due to their handling of them. No one said which can you use it for animal waste so for two weeks they haven't picked up our gray green waste bucket because my husband had left our dog waste in there and don't know why they didn't pick it up until I called! Talk about POOR customer service ! Now I have to wait another week for them to pick it up but had I not called them we wouldn't have known and they would have left it there again! Isn't this what they suppose to do PICK UP TRASH regardless what they are?? Actually the guys don't even have to left them the forklift or whatever it is picks it up so not sure how they come to a conclusion that there is a bad smell that prevented them to pick up that container!! Update - After submitting the complaint to the BBB (Better Business Bureau) and Business Consumer Alliance, someone came immediately the following day to deliver the replacement container instead of waiting another 5 days. Originally after calling and emailing countless times and in the span of almost 3 weeks, customer service emailed and indicated that they were truly sorry and said that the route manager will personally deliver it on our next schedule delivery. If they were sincerely sorry, they would have not waited until delivery date(which is 5 days after). Thank you BBB , Business Consumer Alliance and WM corporate office ( Houston) for taking care of this. The Antelope Valley office should undergo more training in customer service. They should not let customers wait for a long time or use unnecessary delaying tactics. The replacement for the blue trash broken container on 10/14/16 between 6 am to 7 pm was not done as promised. This is the 3rd time that this request has been ignored dating back since 10/4. Spoke to 3 customer service representatives promising 3 dates that supposedly the container would be replaced but never happened. 10/7, 10/12 and then 10/14 were the dates promised but were all ignored. I guess they can do this because they know that they are the only service provider/optiin the area and do not care about customer service. I responded to their survey that was emailed and wrote down my request but that too was ignored. Frustrating and completely unacceptable. read more

Again, more stars than they deserve. This is in continuation to my post from 2/23/22. It is now 3/14/22 and believe it or not, I still have no trash bin. My security camera shows the driver dropping it in his truck on 2/15/22 and I have been calling every week to find out when I am getting another one. They have dropped off a new trash bin to the wrong address at least twice and when I call they tell me I should have it and send me a photo of someone else's house with a different address. WM's residential service sucks. Takes about 2 months and countless phonecalls to get anything done. They have a habit of "accidentally" dropping our trashcans into the trash truck, so then we are left without cans for months at a time until they can get new ones sent out. On September 30th waste management came to pick up my trash, When the truck picked up my trash can, my trash can fell into their truck. I called them to let them know and was told they would not be able to replace it until the next trash day, and that they will pick up my trash bags instead. I was not happy and let them know. It is very inconvenient to not have a trash can for a week. They told me they would try to get it out sooner, but they have a shortage of trashcans at this time (I wonder why) It has been 6 days and still no trash can. Every time a new company comes into our area I switch to them immediately. Unfortunately they have earned this. They sent me an email saying "we contaminated the recycling with trash" the email even included a picture. Ironically, the picture proved it was NOT contaminated with trash. Then, the next week, I saw the trash truck pick up BOTH containers (trash and recycling). When I asked how the truck keeps them separate, he said "it doesn't, it all goes to the same place, I mean we TRY to sort it as much as we can." WHAT?! I had to call back 4 times because noone seems to able to schedule the pick up correctly. Twice they told me pickups are on Thursday and twice they said Tuesday. Unfortunately Waste Management doesn't appreciate that they are in the waste/garbage pick up business. It seems the new driver to this route wants every thing to be gift wrapped for him to pick it up. Having had the now retired driver take the garbage, which is cut and stacked neatly in the cans for many a year, it is difficult to understand them now refusing pick up. Please, is this a functioning business? The cans are totally acceptable for the automated truck to service. The driver needn't ever leave the cab and simply secure the cans for the bin of the truck. Two deliveries in three months. before the last delivery, tank was in the black zone. my house registered at 217 on the poisonous gas level. Within range is 70. I can't believe we didn't die. They replace my can(s) the next day when the wind blows it away, they pick up my trash/recycling/yard waste when they say they will and the dump itself is very convenient and easy to use. I have receive zero satisfaction on this matter. No one from WM has contacted ne. I phone every week. My trash can was basically stolen by WM.our trash can that was mistakenly taken by your can retrieval service of BENZ trashcans from former BENZ SANITATION customers on 10/4/2017. The cost was $97.64 for a brand:Toter, 96 gallon. The can belonged to us and it was dark green, NOT marked as belonging to BENZ, marked with our last name. We were never notified that WM was taking over our service from Benz and we were never notified of trash service date change. When I called because our trash was not picked up on our usual day of Friday, that is when I was informed of the changes. WM service then came out to pick up our trash for us but took both our dark green cans and dropped of one blue WM can, BUT, one can was marked BENZ and the other belonged to us. They have refused now to reimburse us. read more

I wish I could give WM zero stars. I made arrangements for a bulky item pickup (mattress/box springs) for the regular pickup day. Had everything out at the curb as directed. Nothing was picked up. I guess it rained during the night and the mattress was considered "over the limit"...how they knew - I'm not sure. It seems when I made the arrangement the customer service rep forgot to mention to wrap everything in plastic. I would've been happy to have followed those directions as well - as I threw a large tarp away the same day. It was suggested I go to Walmart to but a new tarp. Ummm...no. Now, I'm supposed to haul these pieces into my house to dry them out (seriously?) and then they'll come pick them up. I spoke with two people - one a complete idiot who suggested all this and the second a "manager" who spoke over me, can't "force" the drivers to pick them up, and said there is nothing they can do for the misinformation given. And people wonder why people take their trash out to dump in our desert. I too am sorry to have lost Benz. Trash truck drove in on my driveway, picked up trash and drove out on my driveway. And unfortunately WM is the only game in town now. Caught between a rock and a hard place. My request to WM is use my driveway. 2/6/18, 8:01 a.m, first call to WM - "please instruct your truck driver to enter my property on the driveway and exit on the driveway. I do not want a second driveway in or out of my property". Customer Rep courteous and very professional. Took my info said she would direct my concern to right people - dispatch manager and that person would in turn get in touch with driver and possibly even get in touch with me. Left property before WM truck came so placed two orange cones (in the hope that this would alert/remind driver not to travel this route (off the driveway). I was not certain if driver would be alerted to my request before pick up on this day. 2/13/18, 10:02 a.m. second call/request to WM I was home when driver came. I tried to get a photo shot of route driver would take as he exited my property, but alas, I am not 14 and just couldn't get the phone in camera movie mode soon enough, so I watched him leave, not on the established driveway, but around the cones, making yet another exit. He proceeded up the road, turning right off our property, and after pickup 5 acres away, he was coming back. I dialed Waste Management at 10:02 a.m. and with phone in hand, decided to run to meet up with him to ask him to please use the driveway. Not a good Idea. (63, not 14) I ran down driveway and tripped. Fell headlong and belly flopped on the ground. Knocked the breath out of myself. Managed to get up, watched as trash truck drove past my driveway, found my glasses which were thrown from me (literally brand new glasses purchased on 12/5/17 now with terrible scratches on the left lens) ugh. Jessica from WM was on the phone now (somehow I held on to my phone) and through breathless speech, I explained what just happened. Our conversation lasted 14 minutes 26 seconds. She heard my entire ordeal with the fall and etc. After conversation with Jessica, she gave me my case # and said she would get in touch with Dispatch person who would get in contact with driver. After I hung up with Jessica, I went in to assess damage to my physical body and glasses which flew when I belly flopped. (I have new respect for football players who take hits like this on a regular basis, but alas, they are in better physical shape to withstand the pounding). Glasses made what looks like a rug burn where glasses sit at bridge of nose on the left side (yup, glasses are scratched on left side). Lenses were perfect. I purchased them just over 2 months ago and now they are a mess. I can tell now how I tried to protect myself. My left elbow hit the ground hard and I have a road rash, and bruising, my right forearm has a road rash stripe. The palm of my right hand hurts. My sternum hurts, as does the back of my neck, right side. 2/15/18 10:42 a.m. third call - have still heard nothing back from WM. Called to request an e-mail address for the dispatch person. Was told they could not give that information out, but she would try to get a message to the correct dispatch person. Came back on the phone and told me they were all in a meeting, and she would be e-mailing one of them. (Wow thought this was great). Mentioned my dealings with WM to another Actonite - and she says "yup, sounds about right, just what I was told when I had an issue". 2/16/18 8:48 a.m. fourth call -talked with "Eddie". He told me he will get in touch with department of operations and route manager - and that I should hear back from someone today. I asked him, "why should I believe you? I have been told this during other calls I made to WM over the past 10 days". He most sincerely said he is sending an e-mail directly. Well I will believe it when I receive a call. No call that day. Eddie, as all the other customer reps I have spoken to have been very professional. I have no complaint with the customer service department - my issue is what happens after I get off the phone with them. No one calls back. What's up with management? My request is not over the top. I am asking the driver to use the established driveway to my property. I do not want a second driveway. If I did, I would establish it. It rather burns me that the driver of the garbage truck thinks it is ok to choose any route out. Would he be willing to give me his home address so that I could survey where I think he should have a driveway and then proceed to enter and or exit on this new path with my vehicle. And did he think I was trying to direct his exit by placing cones to guide him out. Cones placed there to make a statement (DON'T GO THIS WAY - STAY ON THE DRIVEWAY). I am still waiting for a call. I will be calling again on Monday and Tuesday and daily until I get a resolution. read more

If there was another company offering the same services, I would immediately sign up. Unfortunately, we're stuck with this monopolize business. The drivers lack any accountability, skip pick ups. Their website allows you to notify them of a missed pick up;however, what's the point if they don't follow through. Pick up day is Monday, due to the holiday it was Tuesday. I called Wednesday when we noticed our trash was not picked up and submitted the "missed pick up" on their website. I was told trash would be picked up within 48 hrs. Followed up Thursday and still nothing, kept being told they were contacting their driver to ensure it would be pick up by that evening. It is now Saturday morning and nothing yet. My next step is to file a complaint with corporate, although I know it will be pointless. The amount of reviews and similar situations stemming from this company , tells me they don't care and are only interested in their money. Welcome to corporate America. read more
