Waste management and refuse collection is a bit of a hobby for me. I fancy myself a bit of an expert when it comes to esoterica like landfills and toxic dumping. So, it is a delight to share with you one of Northeast Ohio's best-kept secrets; Waste Management Corp. The company is totally awesome and totally cool. Think of it as the Cleveland Clinic of garbage collection companies and we have them right here on Richmond Road. Here's a little garbage trivia: did you know that when garbage is compacted in a truck, the fluid that collects at the base of the hopper is affectionately known as 'packer juice.' Fun. And true! But back to my review. The people at Waste Management collect, process and bury millions of tons of really gross stuff and they do it with a smile and they do it with aplomb. Whether it is grass clippings, tampons, excretia, foul industrial detritus or even a worn out plush teddy bear, the good people at WM will be there to accept it and deal with it. They work hard and are polite. They accept what we cast off. Acceptance. It's a four-letter word these days. So many times we find ourselves judging others, greedily clinging to the trivial bonds we make with people just as lost and alone as ourselves only to feel cast aside like bad pasta salad. The people at WM could judge us and they do not. They could look into my can and find creepy stuff and they'd know my secrets. They don't do it. They're too busy running to your house. And the next. And the next. Accepting. Not judging. More fun garbage trivia: The trucks that empty portable latrines (port-o-lets to use trade lingo) dump their trucks at the end of the day at the landfill. The summer heat and the foul ferment within the truck pressurizes the holding tank and when those drivers open the back up, man oh man you do not want to be there when that pressure is released. It's like three hundred yucky diarrhetic people busting loose all at once. Whoosh goes the truck! Life lessons there, friends. WM is good for Northeast Ohio and we all owe them a hero's thank you. read more

questionable ethics. I canceled service because their rates went up significantly. they picked up the cans then billed me for the pickup that was more than the cans were worth. it was more than 3 months of weekly pickups. im filing a report with the bbb and Ohio attorney general. read more

Waste Management should be ashamed of how they treat people. I have around $40 every single month for five years, while most people pay that much per quarter. Now that I've moved and tried to cancel, they're demanding $172 just to end my service. I moved out on October 20, 2025, and have been trying for over two weeks to cancel, yet they keep charging me for service I'm not using and even for a trash can I can't return because I don't live there anymore. Their hours are terrible, their phone system is a nightmare, and actually reaching a real person is nearly impossible. This isn't customer service it's taking advantage of people. It feels like outright theft, and I'll never recommend this company to anyone. It makes sense why they don't have a social media presence or at least not one that I can find. So absurd. read more

I shouldn't even give them one star. they get zero in my opinion. from them saying they pick up my trash to actually they didn't and then they tell me that my bin was not out when we put it out the night before and have cameras to prove that we put it out. and most recently we discontinued service with them and have had the bin they said they would pick up next day out for two weeks straight now. The customer service even worse to try and get ahold of I called and someone honestly picked up acted like they could not hear me even after I said hello seven times but they just kept talking over me and then hung up. if you have them for service I would change because they are absolutely the worst trash service I have even seen. they have excuses for everything to. read more

Waste Management Billing and Customer Service is a joke. I paid my bill on-time for 12 years as a customer and when I canceled they charged a ridiculous $75 fee to come get your containers. Be aware of this scam. They tell you they told you when you signed up (they might have) but I received zero reminders about this when canceling. And if you don't pay right away, aggressive late fees, attitude on the phone with customer service, and a quick trigger to collections despite the aforementioned not missing a payment for 12 years. No benefit of the doubt and zero customer service. I'll never use them again. If you're in the Lake County, OH area, use Major Waste Disposal or Dumpster Bandit. Ordered a 40 yard dumpster on a Thursday for the next Tuesday. Was called at 2pm telling me no 40 yard dumpsters were available. Was told by the person "oh it will fit"( how do you know?) They then said a 30 yard dumpster was being delivered. He was in the lot now waiting on my approval. Called 90 minutes later, looking for arrival time and was told the driver is on stop 3 and I was 5. Then asked for help with pricing while being transferred 4 times. Then when I was finally able to get someone to help with pricing. I asked to pay for a 20 yard instead of the 30 yard and was immediately told NO. I can't help you with that. The price is the price. Absolutely no customer service. Definitely the customer service line team needs some training read more

Do not waste your time with this company. Had service for 4 years, increased my price by 30-40$ a year which is reasonable. All the sudden this year it went from $270 for a full year to $381. No explanation, I decide not to renew my contract and get charged $145 after be told I would only be charged $70 for the pick up of the trash can. Extremely disappointed in this company. read more

Just awful. I had no problem until they doubled the cost of our service. Has taken over five phone calls and long hold times to cancel service. Phone calls were dropped, I was transferred to the wrong department, etc. Found another service that charges a fourth what WM did. I had to practically scream that I was done with them before they took me seriously. read more

I am a WM customer and not happy. I have a problem with them missing another pickup. Utility work on the street was an inconvenience for them. The neighbors trash was picked up, the extra 50ft to get to my receptacle was a bit much for the driver. With that the UPS truck made it to my drive with no issue, USPS made it as well. Attempting to call them won't work 866-9094458 will get you put on hold long enough to kill your battery. Going to the WM web gives no opportunity to contact them? They have no problem collecting your payment not so good on trash... read more

Due to constantly increasing prices I decided to cancel. Found another hauler for 1/2 the price. I was fully paid up and I cancelled 7 days before the end of the billing cycle and the start of the next. They charged me $75.00 to have my tote picked up (outrageous) and another $53.00 for "prorated" fuel and taxes. This company is a complete disgrace and I will encourage my friends and acquaintances to not use them. read more

I have used Waste Management for many years and was always pleased until the last couple of years. I am calling to report missed pickups on a regular basis now. So my trash stays out by the street until the driver decides to pick up. I have paid a year in advance, but don't know if I will renew with them again. read more

Arcane, one-sided contracts. Poor customer service. Reckless drivers. Above average rates. What more could anyone want?

Recently Waste Management bought out our previous garbage service company. Once Waste Management took over service was as expected. However, one day our trash was not picked up. I called to find out why, we were told our service had been moved from Thursday to Monday. We never received notification via flyer. Okay it got lost in the mail! Monday came and went not pick up. I called AGAIN and they said to have the trash out by 6 am since we got it out by 6:30 am. Another Monday came and went, came and went for 6 weeks and no one EVER CAME TO PICK UP THE trash. But I see my neighbors have Waste Management and their pick up is Tuesday. So we put our trash out Tuesday instead of Monday they picked up my neighbors trash but our bag was still there. We pay for bags not monthly service after this situation it leads me to believe they want to do away with bagged customers. If that is what you want to do fine but refund our money for the bags we can not get service on. read more
