Saw pretty good deals during July, like 5 watches for the price of 2. Unfortunately, i am not into Chinese made stuff so i pass, but other people might enjoy having a different watch for every day pf the week! read more

They had a fantastic selection which hurt my pocketbook a little bit. Cuban cigars are traditionally expensive so be prepared to spend a bit if you go here but I didn't feel that I overspent for what I wanted and what I got. Service was great. The worker came into the humidor with us and helped us pick our cigars and price them throughout our shopping experience. He also got us a cutter to cut them all before taking them back to the resort (didn't bring our own cutter on the plane). Worth a visit if you're looking for authentic Cuban cigars - don't buy from the guy on the beach.

Fake cigars put in an authentic box. You can tell by the terrible roll as well as the cigar shapes weren't uniform in the least.

The young lady told me it would be a $200 peso fee that goes to the hotel since we paid our room thru Expedia. Thru Expedia I chose to pay for the "premium room with a partial view to the beach." I asked the young lady if our room had a partial view to the beach. She assured us it did. She told us that our room was located on the 5th floor up the stairs my wife asked her if there was an elevator. She told us that the elevator wasn't working. As we went up the stairs I noticed our room was in a corner as I opened up the door the window was small and it was half ways frosted. The view was to some trees and a building under construction. You could also see the roof with the air conditioner and other objects. I was like this is not what I paid for. As we decided to go to dinner I asked the young lady in the lobby that I wanted to move rooms because there was no view to the beach. Her response was " I knew you wouldn't be happy with that room. We gave no more rooms available but if you wait till tomorrow we can place you in front of the hotel with a room that has a balcony but you will here music playing all night until 3 am." We would rather sleep in a corner instead of hearing music all night. The next day we decided to try the breakfast. Didn't realize you have to walk a block or two down Avenida 5 to go to a hotel that gas limited options. They were giving taquitos with papa for breakfast. If you wanted more you would have to pay for it. We were willing to pay for other options but the kitchen had no items. We never went back for the free breakfast we would rather pay for it in a real restaurant. Our last day we woke up to no water in our room and came to find out the whole hotel. I had to walk to the ocean at 5am to wash my hands. It was off for several hours. This hotel maybe by the beach but they really need to step up their game. I asked for a partial refund thru Expedia because of what the hotel shows for a partial view to the beach and for what I got. Big difference. They refused. I would never stay here again.

Skip the Tour--Just a Sales Trap…read more We joined the Marie's & Co Joya de Mexico excursion from our hotel as a cheap way to get to Playa del Carmen--we'd done it before but it's a free ride to Playa and from our hotel would have been a lot of money for 3 people. The tour includes a stop at a "silver jewelry factory" and a tequila tasting, which is really just a sales pitch. We skipped the tasting since we don't drink tequila and wandered around the flea-market-style area instead--everything was ridiculously overpriced! A small cat statue was going for $25 USD, honestly not even worth $5. The jewelry shop was the same as before--overpriced pieces and the same false claim that their silver "doesn't tarnish." I bought two pairs of earrings on this same tour two years ago, and both tarnished. If you're just after a free ride to Playa del Carmen, this will get you there, but the "tour" portion is a waste of time.

Apparently our friends were kicked out once they made it clear that they weren't buying any jewelry. They were escorted to the front of the store outside and told they had to stay. Our couple experience wasn't like that -- Jose was very pleasant and took us all around the shop explaining different things about the various jewels and crystals. When that was done it was time for tequila tasting ! We took a small cart to the building next door where the Matis family sells tequila and were given Gabriel as a host. Gabriel was amazing, he clocked our tastes quickly and was able to make great suggestions based on everyone in the group. We tried all 17 tequilas and couldn't resist the coffee, pomegranate, kiwi and guava flavors. They had a special so we got the medium bottles with more tequila for less than the gift box price. All in all Gabriel made this portion very fun! For the jewelry store, I'd give the experience 3.5 stars but the tequila tasting side was 5 out of 5! If you're okay with being hard-sold on jewelry the experience is worth it for the tequila! Thank you Gabriel !
