Todd was very accommodating to us when we had to switch dates for our vacation. He was also great with communication, giving us detailed welcoming and departing emails stocked with all sorts of info. There was one small glitch that Todd saw to in a very timely manor. The cabin had a kitchenette that had everything we needed for our week stay. Two separate bathrooms (with abundant hot water) were very nice to have and would come in handy for two couples or a family with kids. The Wi-Fi was fantastic - no issues. TV with Roku was nice though we used it just once. We made use of the fire pit, grill and picnic table almost every day. Corn hole and a horseshoe pit were also used. We also brought croquet and bocci sets that we used as there was ample space to play. $10 for firewood that could be used for 3 separate fires was a decent deal. It's a great location between Saranac and Placid. Greg was kind enough to sit down with us and help us map out our entire journey. He even helped us map an alternate route home that was more scenic. We didn't get to everything on the list, but everything he mentioned was perfect. You can tell he has a genuine love and passion for what he does. We rented the Chalet at Lake George Retreat for 3 nights with family. We selected this location…read morebased on its lake access for boating and house pictures. We arrived on a very hot day in July to learn that the house only had one air conditioner in a remote upstairs bedroom - no air anywhere else. Our group had to suffer through the night with only a crickety ceiling fan being held in place with 1 screw and some tape. Despite charging a $200 cleaning fee, we found the home to be dirty with cobwebs around the house, sand tracked through the kitchen and carpets that hasn't been cleaned (or updated) in years. The TV never worked but thank goodness for wifi otherwise we would be completely out of touch with humanity. The fridge never got cold enough to prevent dairy products from spoiling within a day (again, no AC so it was about 92 degrees inside the house). Lastly, outside chairs were broken and those that weren't were on their last legs. The home is at the very top of Lake George and you will face a minimum 50 min drive to get to the Village. No offense to the town of Ticonderoga but, other than Walmart, you will find nothing to see or do. If renting a boat, there is an extremely dangerous passage that you will have to cross with fast-moving cross currents. Boat rental companies advise their clients not to access the passage due to the rocks. If you are not a moderate to expert boater, prepare for white-knuckle driving. Lastly, the owner tried every trick in the book to withhold out security deposit including making up conditions that did not exist in the written rental agreement. Despite agreeing to waive a pet fee twice, she only returned a portion of the security deposit with ridiculous excuses about pet hair and urine in remote parts of the home where the pet never had access to. She also complained about 2 coffee mugs left in the sink and a napkin on the counter - I guess they don't want to clean when they charge a $200 cleaning fee. There are much better options with more-reputable owners for your Lake George house rental. Stay away from this one.

It's been 7 years since my first visit and am over the moon about the fact that I get to spend my big 4-0 birthday here. I had the opportunity to pick a vacation anywhere I wanted. I chose Robert Frost Cabins over taking a cruise in the Caribbean in January. THAT'S how much I love it! We picked cabin 6 (Evening Star), which is one of their newer cabins and I'm still here as I write this updated review from their famous "reading nook," overlooking the woods. Everything is exactly as I remember and I honestly felt like I was coming back home. So comfy and cozy! The biggest change that was made is the fact that they now have business class Wi-Fi service, which is huge since my fiancé and best friend are "working from home" during our visit. They have experienced zero interruptions while conducting meetings over Zoom. For us, this is HUGE and will most likely mean we can visit more often since we can stay in contact with the outside world. This also means that they have Netflix now, which is pretty sweet. Pro tip: head to Middlebury and do some grocery shopping as these cabins have literally everything you need to make home cooked meals. We did about $500 worth of groceries (don't shop on an empty stomach, lol) and don't plan on leaving our cabin much. Since they have a full sized fridge, stove, all the pots, pans, utensils, etc., you can rest assured that you'll have it all and won't need to bring anything from home (although we did choose to bring our crockpot). I honestly cannot say enough about this place. You will absolutely love it here if you're looking to leave the stresses of normal life for a bit and just relax. Thank you to Marty and Carol for, once again, allowing us to make more beautiful memories. Years later and we are here with our daughter who wasn't even born when we first discovered Robert Frost Cabins. Now she gets to enjoy Vermont and this magical place with us!

Now on to the full review:…read more Thanks to the foresight of my late grandfather, my family is fortunate enough to have a camp on the northeastern shore of Lake George. Throughout life's ups and downs, I've yet to miss visiting in the summer/fall for any of my 42 years. Lake George is 32 miles long, and the northern basin (north of the "Narrows" group of islands) really is better than the southern half. Why? It's cleaner, less busy, and a lot less commercialized. The trade-off is you're a bit farther from the highways, making the trip to the nearest airports (Albany, NY or Burlington, VT) or rainy day things like the mall a little longer. The northern basin also is not chock full of lakefront restaurants and bars like the south side (Bolton and Lake George village). Anyway, that was a long preamble to Martucci's restaurant. I'll get to the point now: this isn't just the best place to eat in northern lake George, it's the best place to eat on the lake - period! They serve breakfast 7 days a week, and serve dinner Thursday - Sunday evenings 5:30 to 7:30 PM. They've got things like burgers, lamb chops, and salmon every night. There are also rotating specials like their lamb shank. My dad and I were lucky, and went on a night when lamb shank was on the menu. All I can say is: damn it's good! You won't need a knife, it's "fall off the bone" tender. The orzo it's served with is very flavorful too, I believe they cook it in the lamb juices? Rich as lamb is supposed to be, but not overly so. Dad & I agreed it's some of the best lamb we've had! Dinner also included a nice salad (forgot to take a pic) with a choice of 3 dressings: blue cheese, thousand island or oil & vinegar. We both went with blue cheese and it was very tasty. Nice and thick, definitely not from a jar. The rolls were fresh baked and served with Cabot butter, which is the best around. Soup of the day was spinach. Frankly I'm not a big spinach guy, but I had most of my serving. It had a nice flavor and was in what I think was a beef stock. My dad devoured his. We didn't have room for dessert, but they had several options available. We brought our leftovers home and enjoyed them the next day. Throw the lamb and orzo in some Corningware in a 350F oven until it's warmed through, and it's almost as good as the first night. There is also a really cool bar that'll take you back in time to what the "real Adirondacks" used to feel like. Beautiful wood bar, knotty pine paneling, and a booze selection that's more than adequate but not overwhelming. We arrived by boat and docking was a breeze. They had a staff member come out and be kindly assisted with tying up. If you're an inexperienced boater, be mindful of the navigation buoys (as you should already be on this large lake). I'd suggest making a reservation, and arriving early to enjoy a drink on their deck overlooking the lake. They've got nice grounds to walk around too. The owner Dave takes great pride in his family business. We are grateful to have such an amazing place to make new family memories - while enjoying great food amidst true Adirondack ambiance and hospitality. If you're staying in lake George village or Bolton landing, take the easy and scenic drive up Route 9N - it's well worth the visit. We can't wait to go back!

The lounge serves incredible drinks, and offers live music that is incredible! From international musicians to local artists... it is a treat to be able to listen to this music.. they also offer paint and sip, many activities on the property including free access for guests to canoes, kayaks, and rowboats... for a day adventure on the lake and to the islands... the rooms are authentic to the time period in which they were built... while constant upgrades are happening on the property. Many families return year after year... some have been coming for 35 years or more... as well as new guests arrive to enjoy the beauty and majestic views here.. that only this property has. The experience is worth the price to stay here... even though the price to stay here is accommodating for all people... no matter their pay bracket or social class. Truly a warm and welcoming space where are all welcome and invited... and feel at home... in the Adirondacks! Many other places to stay up here do not care about you, or who you are, or do not even try to get to know you.. the owner is very personable, friendly, kind, and understanding... they also do their own fourth of July fireworks which makes the stay even more magical and wonderful! It is a warm and inviting venue and the staff was very helpful and friendly. If you work remotely, it's a great space to meet others, work outside of the house in a convivial and communal environment.
