It was our second time here in a week. The first experience was outstanding we spent a couple hours on the beach and then came up for barbecue. The pork belly burn ends were outstanding and a load of tots were great. We really enjoyed the greens. This afternoon we did the same thing spent an hour and a half on the beach and Savannah was our server. Service was prompt and efficient. We had pulled pork greens and pork belly burns. Went here a few Saturday's back with some buddies and was legit blown away. Food was great, servers were on point. We tried the pork belly and it was amazing. Burgers and boiled peanuts were cooked to perfection it was just a great experience. Then I took my family on a weekday and it was the complete opposite. No one came to the table for so long I had to go ask if we could be served even though there were several workers hanging around the bar. When someone finally came after I asked, their demeanor was horrible. Just annoyed at having to deal with us. The food this time was cooked horribly. Tasteless and cold. The experience was so off putting it's going to be hard to go back if we do at all. I would still say try it on the weekend when it's busy and well staffed, but avoid the quieter days as it may be a waste of your money. read more

I had BBQ chicken, corn, and some sauces brought to me. The chicken was beyond dry. The sauces certainly helped, but something was off. It was edible, but this wasn't finger-licking good BBQ and for the price it ought to be. The corn was delicious fortunately, but this is a BBQ joint. The BBQ should be the star. I should not be here raving about the corn, and even then, I have had better. This is the type of place you go to when you're in a pinch, but I would not go out of my way for. Like most places along the beach or bay Water Pig has a great location with beautiful views and a consistent breeze. Overall the ambiance is great but unfortunately the food is way overpriced for what you get. Living part time in Austin I'm confident I know good BBQ (arguably some of the best in the world in TX). The BBQ has a decent smoked flavor but the amount of meet for $30 along with the excessive fattiness of the brisket left me disappointed. Good brisket should be 80% meat and 20% fat, with any fat in the meat fully cooked down and only serving to add more juiciness. I found the brisket here to have fat throughout the meat which meant only a small part of it was edible. Overall even if the BBQ was pronominal the prices are still excessively high and for two you could easily spend $70+. I'd recommend giving it a try since BBQ is subjective and so you may love it but be prepared to spend a healthy amount for a meal. read more

I love the outdoor seating at this area because you get a chance to enjoy the sand and have a view of the beach. I really enjoyed the portion sizes of the chicken wings and they were well seasoned and cooked to perfection. A group of 12 of us pulled up on a thursday night without a reservation and were still able to be seated! We sat on the picnic tables on the sand which we were all okay with. The view was outstanding, they had chairs next to the water and corn hole (there were no bags but we didn't ask if they had any available.) I felt for the servers because we were there a good 15-30 minutes after they closed and they had to walk in the sand with tennis shoes on but they still had a positive attitude/ and great service!! Our main waiter, a young man, was super helpful and even took a picture of the group! Food was all really good super filling and fresh. Tots had a good crunch (we also had loaded tots, very yummy!) My only complaint was the mac was dry but it had breadcrumbs on top which was good! (i'm a mac and cheese fanatic so i might just be biased) Overall super good id come back in the future if we come back to pensacola:) read more

Had the brisket sandwich yesterday and was disappointed. As a Kansas City BBQ person, who is used to Arthur Bryant's, it had a small amount of brisket and had cheese. Not to mention the food was horrible, from the meat being extremely dry and the bbq sauce being lumpy. My husband and I were headed to Red Fish Blue Fish when we pulled into the parking lot however, the smell of BBQ lured us to Water Pig. Ate on a Saturday mid October around noon. We were surprised to see very few cars in the parking lot. Upon arrival we were greeted by a cheerful waitress. We ordered Carolina pulled pork and Texas Brisket sandwiches. We both agreed the Brisket was the better of the 2. It was delicious as were the sweet and savory pickle slices that came with it. The tater tots (standard with the sandwich) were ok but had stayed in the cooker just a tad too long. Hubby had a beer and I had water. Tip and all was around $50 ($39 for food). We saw this place on bring Fido and stopped with our dogs. I went up to the hostess to make sure they were pet friendly and went back to get my pups. By the time I got back our table was set and a fresh bowl of water was ready for them. The entire patio is open air and on a sunny 76° day it was perfect. We were comforted to pull up and see that there was so much covered outdoor seating. The hostesses of Water Pig were really nice about moving us down to the sand when the only table on the patio was the very first one, in a high traffic area. It was lovely to dine by the bay in the shade of the deck next door. Our waitress said the sampler platter was enough for two to share with some to spare, so my husband and I were a little let down when we finished everything and left unfulfilled. It was all okay; I would have liked the sides to be bigger, plus more juice and flavor in the meat but the BBQ sauce helped. The kids macaroni is mixed with a white cheese and comes with a tasty side of tots. The meats were tender, flavorful and juicy! The salad has smoked pork, brisket and turkey and it is a perfect reimagining of a Cobb salad! Kudos to the pit boss at the Water Pig! The potato salad was awesome and the homemade mesquite ranch was heaven! Our waitress was sooooo very nice and attentive, she made us feel at home and welcome! We ate outdoors looking out at the bay and with the high ceilings it was breezy and cool. As a bbq guy (award winning) I am very critical of bbq when i eat out but I liked everything we had at the Water Pig. We had loaded bbq tots and pork cracklins as an appetizer. The pork crack was just that ... crack. It was actually still popping and cracklin when it came to the table. Dusted in their rub it was hot and crunchy. We tried them with sauce and they were even better. The loaded tots are huge as are the sandwiches. Our group order the club and the brisket sandwiches. A sandwich can easily be split between two people if you had an appetizer. Smoky and spicy brisket was tender and served on a toasted bun. The club has a thick slice of tomato and smoked turkey with bacon. I again added their spicy sauce and it was delicious. The greens needed some salt or more spicy sauce. Did you gather I was also a fan of the sauces?? Only star off was tables and chairs needed to be wiped down at opening. I got their new "$38 two meat plate" with fries & coleslaw only (!!), no legit sides options at all. First off, come on yall- you can't hold back on sides for a $40 meat plate. If I want baked beans this is going to be a $50 plate?? Gimme a break! I got the pork & brisket. Pork was good but scant & brisket serving was pathetic. Maybe 3 skimpy dried out slices of brisket flat. What is that?! If you need a knife, your brisket is a bust-PERIOD. For that much money, you need to slap some meat on my plate! I want an impressive slice of flat and chunk of point on my $40 brisket plate! Impress me! You did not. The restaurant was empty so idk what they're doing with all the meat that they aren't giving to the paying customers. It's a major disappointment. Went went on a Friday night, 7:00 pm, not super busy. Wind coming off the water, so it felt like we were in a wind tunnel. Ordered drinks and took almost 15 minutes. Yes there were 6 of us, but again they were not busy. We asked to have the plastic pulled so we could enjoy our meal without our hair blowing in our faces. Finally move to a table further into the restaurant. Our food came out. The flavor was excellent but everything was cold, from the meat, to the sandwiches and Mac and cheese.
