Came by yesterday to what's the deal with Five Sisters. We arrived around 1:30pm and we only had to wait about 20 minutes. The staff were so nice and very friendly. Once we were seated, our server came and took our drink order. We ordered the fried pork chops, mac & cheese, yams and black eyed peas. The pork chops were seasoned pretty good. They were a little thin but still good. The mac & cheese were nice and creamy. The yams could have been a little sweeter but the nutmeg and cinnamon were on point. The peas were a little overcooked. They were more mushy than I'm used to. The corn bread was really good and hot. The biggest treat is the live band. They are amazing and set the tone for a great vibe. Overall, the food was pretty good and I will come back to try something new. A suggestion would be to offer some Lima, pinto or butter beans as an option. My girlfriend and I went here for lunch and decided to get the "seafood platter" together. It was 3 shrimp, one catfish filet and one crab cake. The two sides were also tiny, maybe in a cup smaller than the palm of my hand. The food was tasty but we expected a seafood platter to be a bit bigger. It was our first time there. Food was decent but I don't think we will go back. I'd rather go somewhere else for seafood. Lastly, something was leaking from the ceiling and kept dripping on our table. Walked in on a rainy Thursday evening. Blues musicians playing, interesting decor, the place is well lit and offers inside and outdoor seating. Server was friendly and brought our drinks. I ordered the Fried Pork Chops with collard greens and mashed potatoes. My husband ordered the Fried Green Tomato BLT. Both were good. Pork chop a little tough to cut, mash was very dense and a bit dry even though it had gravy on it, but they were seasoned nicely. Overall flavor was great. Husband liked his BLT. This is our first time here and really enjoyed our dinner. The prices are really reasonable and the atmosphere is so fantastic. I got the chicken tenders with collard greens and fried green tomatoes and I definitely could not finish my dinner. Came in to try some comfort food we've heard so much about. Not the quickest service I've experienced in the Great Southern Restaurant Group. (Fish House, Atlas Oyster House, Jackson's Steak House, Five Sisters Blue's Cafe and Angelena's Ristorante Italiano. With Atlas and Angelena's setting the bar. Once greeted, we started with the Buffalo Chicken Dip, which was quit tasty. I had to try the Famous Fried Chicken (Dark) with Collards and Red Beans and Rice. The Fried Chicken was hot and delicious! The sides were way under seasoned, leaving me to doctor them with condiments. My wife really enjoyed the Chicken Fried Steak and Gravy with Mac n cheese and Fried Okra, which added to the comfort food enjoyment. My only wish would be, replacing the loud metal chair's on the concrete floors, which take away from the Blues Cafe Vibe. Patrons sitting in the outside patio and many more inside listening to the live Jazz music playing. We opted to sit inside to hear the music. Was seated in a reasonable time for a busy Sunday Brunch. Ordered a Hurricane drink and it was not to be expected. A little watered down or missing something nothing like a Hurricane I've had before. I subbed my chicken for wings instead of tenders, best decision. Chicken was 'heavenly' seasoned to perfection. Belgium waffle was nothing to rave about. Now the Mac and cheese was smooth and cheesy perfect combination. Red beans and rice were ok needed more meat, but I still ordered one to go. The live Jazz music made the moment even more intimate. So underwhelming. Tried five sisters as it was advertised for restaurant week and thought we would try something new. First off the hostess took names and numbers but would only use the phone to call the number, never calling out for people who were waiting. We saw a couple who were there way before us get missed. She could have saved so much time by verbally calling out who was next as there were several couples waiting near the entrance who had to flag her down that we were the ones on the phone with her. Next thing, once we got to our table, it took forever for a server to come to our table, it wasn't a waitress, but the bartender who was obviously busy at the bar. She was very polite and took our orders. Drinks were very good. As it is restaurant week, we ordered off that menu, which includes an appetizer, a main course, and a dessert. Appetizers took forever to arrive and were good. While waiting and waiting for the main course, the food runner tried to drop another round of appetizers at the table. He took it back as we already had ours. We continued to wait for the main course and it did not arrive until 1:45 hours after we sat down. My dish was the blue crab and the food runner tried to take it back without letting me have it. I should have let him. It was very dry and not edible, it just crumbled and there was no edible meat in it. My wife's dish was the chicken dish and she said it looked like slop and was dry. Probably due to the long wait. She couldn't eat it and we were out of the mood for the dessert, so took them to go. My wife tried her dessert when we got home and said it tasted like burnt bread. I can't bring myself to try mine. On the bright side the manager did comp my meal but we were so underwhelmed with the wait and quality of the food that we won't be back. read more

We showed up at around 4:30 and were able to get seated right away, but it filled up quickly and there seemed to be a wait by 5:00. We started with the fired green tomatoes. Delicious. The dipping sauce was great. Was a bit of a dill flavored ranch. For the main course, I went with Aunt Sara's fried chicken dinner with collard greens and mashed potatoes and gravy. The collards were next level and the potatoes did not disappoint. The fried chicken was crispy and juicy. Delicious. There wasn't as much spice as I'd have liked, but it scratched the itch. Found this place nearby where we were exploring, and so happy we did! Prices are very reasonable for the amount of food that is served. Started off with the fried green tomatoes. They looked perfect; however, they were surprisingly bland including the jalapeño ranch. Next up were the entrees and they were spectacular! I ordered the fried chicken (2 breasts) and chose mac n cheese and collared greens. OMG, the best fried chicken I've ever had!!! Collared greens were very tasty and the corn bread was perfect. My bestie had the pot roast w/mashed potatoes and the consistency was more like a stew but he enjoyed it. Ended our meal with the Blueberry bread pudding a la mode. OMG, so flippin' good! A tad sweet but totally worth it! Oh, I almost forgot about our drinks! My bestie ordered a bloody Mary and it came with a chicken wing, big green olives and a fried chicken wing lol! I ordered the Blueberry hibiscus lemonade with vodka (minus the triple sec) and although I love blueberries, I had to keep watering it down cause it was too sweet. We just stumbled upon this place looking for brunch before our flight. And I'm so glad we did. They were having jazz brunch on Sunday. Great music. And the food was some of the best fried chicken I've ever had. I even took it to go on the plane and brought the leftovers back to Texas for my lunch the next day. I had the 2 piece with 2 sides. The decor truly pays tribute to southern blues/ charm. We waited for about 15-20 minutes before a table became available. This downtown Pensacola soul food restaurant is nice and on the high end of most soul food restaurants. They have their own small parking lot next to the restaurant along with another one across the street. There is an outside covered patio for seating along with a spacious inside too, of course. The interior has a lot of character and was playing good blues music during my visit for lunch. During most evenings, they have live music along with a jazz brunch on Sundays. This restaurant combines a New Orleans bluesy vibe with down home southern cooking. I ordered Aunt Sara's southern fried chicken (3 pcs) with mashed potatoes and brown gravy along with green beans for $16.50. The food arrived quickly within 10 minutes and came with a cornbread roll. The chicken was the old fashioned southern fried cooked chicken that I love and isn't easy to find anymore due to the Nashville hot chicken craze. This bird was hot and juicy and satisfying. The mashed taters and brown gravy were homemade and tasted like it and the green beans were soft and flavorfully cooked with some bacon. It was a very good tasting meal and Grant, the waiter, did a professional job. 5 Sisters Blues Cafe is an excellent choice for a hearty meal in a nice and fun atmosphere. Come eat here!
