Been meaning to stop by here. And when I rolled up and seen the grill master on the smoker putting in work, I knew I was in for a treat. Sorry, I didn't take pics as I saw many pics of other patrons. But I had the rid platter with mac and cheese and greens and a wing platter with Lima beans and potatoe salad. The mac and cheese had a particular taste that I wasn't fond of but didn't make it completely inedible. The rids were smoked perfectly and meaty. The greens were seasoned just right to the point of not needing hot sauce on them. The wings could have used a little more seasoning on them. I ordered them plain with no sauce on them. Lima beans were bland and the potato salad was a flop due to being runny. Would I try them again, yes, but definitely not get what I got for sides or plain wings. read more

I ate at their food truck last weekend for the kick off at Blues by the Bay at Maritime Park. The folks were all very friendly and you can tell they enjoy making good food. I had the  had the brisket sandwich, potato salad, and baked beans. The sides were fresh and very tasty but I was disappointed in the brisket. It was chewy and lacked a bit in seasoning. To be fair, this is the food truck version and I know things tend to be done better when you are putting it together on the go. Their Pensacola restaurant has solid reviews with a much bigger menu and I plan to visit there in the future because I'm always on the lookout for some good barbecue. They do catering and have a lot of delivery options by partnering with Doordash, GrubHub, Waitr, Post Mates and Uber Eats. I can only make my observations based on the food I had from the food truck. We ordered two plates, one with ribs and the other with brisket. When you ate the ribs, they tasted and smelled more like charcoal and lighter fluid than the slow-cooked ribs one might find done on a smoker. They were burnt and a little challenging. I am still not sure what the brisket was, but it was the worst I have ever had. It was cut into small, thin squares and had some mystery sauce on it. Absolutely the worst BBQ I've had in my life. I ordered brisket that came out cut in chunks and served with some sort of mystery sauce in an attempt to make the brisket moist. The brisket was so dry there was no helping it at all. My kids wouldn't even eat the pulled pork due to lack of flavor. 100% would not recommend at all. read more

Been waiting over 30 minutes to get my food. Watched person after person whom ordered LONG after me pick up their order. Walked up to see what was going on to be told "fan blew my order away". Seriously??? You gave me a pager. You don't know that you hadn't paged me? Now having to wait again while they cook my food. Never even offered a free drink for the wait. At $55 for two specials & a plate it's not cheap. Expect better service and attention especially when giving a good tip up front. I couldn't post my review without at least clicking one star (although I wanted to give ZERO stars) so here we go. Food was very expensive with very small portions. It had no taste or seasoning and was just not good at all. We purchased 3 brisket dinners, 3 cobblers, & 2 sweet teas. The food definitely didn't appear to be freshly made/homemade. The cobblers were basically just canned pie filling in a bowl and the tea was extremely sweet & syrupy with a weird taste. Needless to say, none of it was fit to eat or drink so we wasted over $70 and were back where we started with no dinner. Please don't waste your money here. I have bounced around and sampled bbq from many places. Many of you know that each region of the country has its own little twist from the Carolinas (north and south), Texas, KC, and Memphis. I have had the opportunity to sample the bbq at Arlene Williams at both of her locations. She use to be at a smaller spot about three miles down the road until she moved to this larger location further down Mobile Highway. Actually this new location used to be a po'boy place. When you see the smoke billowing from the back it triggers a sense in you like the red light at Krispy Kreme. This is mainly a take and go place. There are no tables but there are high chairs where you can sit and eat if you like near the windows. On this day most people had called in orders and were popping in for lunch. I went with a rib dinner that came with two sides. The sides of macaroni and cheese and collard greens was my selection to keep my ribs company in my to go box. The mac and cheese was real homemade mac and cheese. Some of you know what I am talking about with the browning around the edges. If you overcook, then you scrambling to get your serving from the middle because you know that is not burned. No burning at all with this and no overabundance of cheese where you just have a cheesy brick being served. None of that soupy out of the box stuff you get at some places. The collards were cooked nicely with a few pieces of pork mixed in here and there but not so much that you are constantly eating more of that then the greens. I decided to get my ribs with sauce on the side. I went with the spicy version of her sauce and it has a small kick but nothing that makes you want to reach for water to cool yourself or have your nose sniffling. The ribs had that taste to it where you know it was cooked on a grill with wood. There was a nice smoky char adding to the flavor but not so much that it was like eating burnt wood. I know some people prefer fall of the bone ribs but I like to be able to pick up a bone and bite into it. With the ribs here at Arlene's you don't have to worry about bearing down with your teeth and pulling the rib away to tear a piece of meat off. Very tender rib. If you go here you might have a small wait as all the food is homemade so have some patience and you might hear they are all out of certain items. That's just the nature of the beast at places like this. Also get the MIAMI FLOP!!!!!! This drink is so good and I enjoy the pieces of pineapple that are put in the drink. On a hot day there is nothing more refreshing. Actually on any day there is nothing more refreshing. read more

Arlene's BBQ truly is a gem, owned by a diamond. Her creme de la creme are her ribs. They are not over seasoned with some wacky rub and the Miami mopping sauce that comes with it is excellent. And, one works perfectly without the other. The pulled pork comes on sandwich bread, I think that changes and simplifies this treat. It takes me back to when I was a kid and ate pulled pork and rib sandwiches in Coconut Grove, Fl. Her sides are pure country, steamed okra, collards, macaroni w/cheese, baked beans, all excellent sides, but you won't need them to get full, you'll be stuffed just with the entree alone. read more

Food perfect as usual and now has live entertainment! Plenty of parking surrounded by big oaks and outside patio. And now can have a beer or two with my BBQ. I tried this place out a while back and never got around to writing a review. This place is right around the corner from me and I was actually excited to have a bbq place so close. The brisket was sitting in a hot plate and stewing in there, the brisket had a stewed beef type of taste. No smokey flavor, way too tender and had no pop. The pulled pork had the same affect on me. I went here for the first time today and was disappointed in the food and the service. Ms. Williams herself took my order without offering a smile or a friendly greeting. The lady who came out to fix my food was on a cell phone. I asked if the cake on the counter was red velvet and was told yes and that I can sample it. As the sliver of cake was being wrapped I asked if I could sample it so I can decide if I want to purchase a slice and was told it's not for sale. I asked if the meat is sauced and was told yes but I got home and found there is hardly any sauce on the pulled pork and it doesn't have any smokey BBQ taste to it. I don't know what's in this Cole slaw but it doesn't taste like coleslaw and it's dry. The mac and cheese has absolutely no taste! One of the saddest things you can hear is that you've called in your order too late and they've run out of sweet potato casserole. Then you remember that the mac & cheese is to die for, too (along with all of the other sides) and then you get happy again. I haven't had anything I didn't like from Arlene Williams BBQ. Ordered delivery. They did not have the two meats I ordered, ribs and brisket. They just gave me ribs. The ribs were awful. Tons of fat and it looks like they delivered scraps. I got two sides of green beans and collard greens. Both tasted like they were made in a burnt pan. I was ripped off. They don't deserve one star. read more

I have had Arlene's ribs numerous times. They are very good. Meaty, juicy and just enough char to make them extra delicious. I need to add the homemade BBQ sauce from Arlene's is my favorite. If I do my own BBQ...I always get a container of Arlene's sauce...and I enjoy the compliments for my BBQ with the fantastic sauce. Went in for the first time today. Not very impressed. Pulled pork had a weird taste. Baked potato salad tasted old and funky. Even the lemonade was too sweet to drink. I really wanted it to be good because its close to my house. Guess I'll continue to truck it over to Brothers BBQ. They are still the best in town and have never disappointed me. I've always wanted southern BBQ and boy did this place hit the spot! I had beef brisket with potato salad and macaroni and cheese. We ate at Arlene Williams BBQ for lunch today! The friendliest folks took our orders and took care of us. My husband ordered the brisket and sides. I had the ribs and sides! The portions were very generous and we had to bring ribs and brisket home for snacking later. The bbq ribs and brisket were wonderful. The sauce was tasty. Big selection of sides available. We enjoyed the field peas, cornbread, and potato salad. The restaurant is spacious, inviting, and very clean. The menu is so interesting. We can't wait to go back. Tried this place for the first time. A little pricey but you get what you pay for. I got a brisket supper with collard greens and baked beans. Also came with cornbread. The cornbread was good but not mind blowing. The beans were very good and use an interesting yet very tasty recipe with cinnamon. The collard greens were probably the best I ever had in my life; very delicious and not salty, which is my usual complaint. The brisket was succulent and tasty. It was very tender and cooked well. Nope. The macaroni and cheese was weird. The ribs were like pure gristle and fat butt only if you poured Liquid Smoke on it.

Terrible BBQ! Brisket was ok but chicken was dry and stringy. The mac and cheese was bland and old. Portions were small and the pricing was really high! Asked for French fries as one of my sides but was told that would be extra. Fries are premium??? Also told that ribs would be another hour. Sausage was "ready" but had to wait another 20 mins for them to come out. When they did two of the three of us couldn't eat it. Flavor was just off.
