The service was great- fast and friendly. The views are definitely worth it. We sat on level two and enjoyed drinks and Beef Carpaccio- which made me reminisce of Europe. I would say the mains were tasty but not completely top tier yet. We ordered 2 jagerschnitzel, a mexican flank steak and a chicken cordon bleu. Everything was done well- maybe a bit much food and I would like to try something else maybe lighter next time. Took my mother for dinner tonight (Sept. 4th, 2026) we decided to eat in the formal dining area on the second floor. We had a reservation for 5 pm. We arrived shortly before 5 pm and no one was there to greet us. After waiting for several minutes, someone walked by. They seemed surprised to see us... at 5 pm... on the Friday of a long weekend... Once we were seated, Zara stopped by to take our drink order. I asked for a pint of Molson Canadian and she had no idea what I was talking about. She asked me to spell it out. I did and mentioned that Molson had been operating in Canada for over 200 years. Turns out they don't carry Molson Canadian. My mother asked for a glass of Gewurztraminer wine. Zara also had no idea what that was. My mother had to show her on the menu. Clearly this server has no product knowledge. Then Zara suggested the Date Night Special, but since I am not dating my mother, I declined. While we waited for her to return with the drinks, we could hear the staff gossiping and complaining about their jobs and generally being unprofessional. I want to emphasize how loud the serving staff were. They were laughing and giggling. You should not be able to hear that in a place that bills itself as a fine dining establishment. No manager to be found anywhere. When she returned with our drinks, she didn't pour my mother's wine and she left the cap on my bottle of beer. My mother ordered crème of broccoli soup and received crème of mushroom instead. The one good thing about this place was the food. I enjoyed my pepper corn steak. After an evening that had gone so poorly from a service perspective, I wasn't going to order anything else to eat. I saw they had bourbon on the menu and tried to order a 1 oz glass of Woodford with 2 small ice cubes. Given her previous difficulty with the drink menu, I pointed to the entry on the menu and she had no idea what I was talking about. Told her to forget about the drink order and just bring me the bill. While she was useless as a server, my real anger was reserved for the manager who authorized this ditz to serve customers. The service was minimal, we had finished our waters 10 minutes in and we had to ask the waiter for more water because we were waiting for so long and we were the only ones eating there so it was not busy whatsoever. Booked a family dinner at the top for my daughter's birthday. The service was was so slow - it took an hour to just get our drinks. My daughters and their partners ordered the "date steak special". It took over another hour to get it our food and it was terrible - well cooked when they asked for med-rare. They sent both back and rather than redoing the dishes, they just added a couple of med-rare pieces and returned the steaks in less than 15 min. To add, one member of our party is a severe Celiac so we were very clear about cross contamination or any gluten, yet they added a piece of garlic toast to her salad so we had to send that back as well. A very disappointing and expensive 3 hours. I have wanted to love this place as it has a great view and can have nice ambiance, but this is the third time we have tried to have dinner at the top and each time, it has been a similar experience. Took my parents-in-law to the Water Tower Grill for Father's Day. Being tired of the usual haunts when we came into town we wanted to try something a bit more upscale or so we thought. The food was a huge disappointment. My father-in-law ordered the fish and trips which looked over cooked and dry. My husband had the Schnitzel which was pounded so thin rendering it overcooked and tough enough to sole a shoe. My mother-in-law ordered the petite sirloin which was cooked more on the rare side than she requested. It was also so tough she couldn't barely cut it. When she finally got a piece cut she couldn't chew it. We sent it back and she decided to get the tenderloin steak instead. She was sure this would be a better choice. She was wrong. First it looked nothing like a tenderloin. It was flat and looked like an another cut altogether. When I questioned the waiter, he assured me it was a tenderloin. Still not convinced. Again my mother-in-law tried to cut into it without success. The waiter got her a new knife which he actually sharpened before bringing it back to her. it was still tough going and by this time she was so frustrated she lost her appetite for her meal and we got it to go. They gave her a complimentary dessert which was a creme brûlée which she said was the best part of the meal. I ordered the chicken cordon bleu which was probably the better choice out of the meals. At least I could cut it. Although the vegetables were not much to rave about either. All in all it was a very frustrating and disappointing meal. What a cool spot to find in Lethbridge Alberta. I searched for the best things to do on a recent trip, and this one ticked all the boxes. Great view, interesting menu, elegant service but not stuffy, well-prepared food, and did I mention the view? My in laws, who we were visiting, had never been here and they were stunned at how cool it was. Jazz on Wednesday nights too. The fish and chips were fresh and tasty as was all the food. One thing I appreciated is that they didn't give us a hard time for wanting to move tables or for asking for the smoking of the cocktail to be done table side. They were very accommodating and I really appreciated that. Would absolutely go back even though I've done it before. The menu had too many good things on it to go once. read more

Went to university down here and wanted to show the Water Tower off to my kids while here for a dance competition. First and foremost- the food is great! I am very disappointed with the fact I made a reservation more than two weeks out and we were sat a rather uncomfortable high-top - 4 of us - at 20" round table. We had to get candles and such removed so we had enough room to eat. A group of 8 or so was sitting at 4 high tops put together next to us. Another group of 4 with rather grim looks on a single high-top on the other side of us. I felt we should start a support group. Not sure what was going on in the rest of the restaurant but it was being held empty for people who definitely rated higher than us rabble at the high tops. Not sure how far out I have to make a reservation to get a good table in this place but it's more than two weeks. read more

Okay Water Tower... I'll preface this review with the following: I have lived in Lethbridge since 2004 and have experienced every water tower version since it became a thing. The first version did well for a while and the Ric's did for a bit, but it has always had that "over priced underwhelmed" sort of vibe to it. When we discovered that the telegraph guy what taking care of the water tower, we knew we needed to check it out. (The Telegraph in downtown Lethbridge is one of the few places I have eaten where I needed to compliment the chef). We decided to do a birthday meal for my 38th. One of things that has changed is that the menu has a clear casual vs gourmet split. You can pop in for a 23$ Reuben or a 40$ steak. For a market like Lethbridge that makes a ton of sense. We went the fine dining route. Appetizers: We had the Bour-Schetta and also the Bocconcini Croquettes. Both were amazing, but I must say that the Bour-Schetta is possibly the greatest thing I have ever had in my mouth. I could have ordered three more and just been done for the meal. Entrées: My wife went with the chefs special and I am jealous that I didn't follow suit. It was a Salmon en Croute (essentially a salmon Wellington) with amazing potatoes and sautéed veggies. Simply amazing and the portion was surprisingly large. Could have fed us both with appetizers added in easily. I went for the fillet tenderloin with button mushrooms (also came with the chefs potatoes and seasonal veggies). Cooked perfectly and the potatoes were super good. We skipped dessert because we were full, but still had babysitter time to burn so we popped down to the lounge for a drink. My wife had a chocolate martini and I had a smoked old fashioned. Incredible both of them. Staff: No complaints. Our server (Nicole) was pleasant and attentive without being annoying. She admitted right away that she was newer to the business and didn't try and feed us any BS when she didn't know the answer to a question. She promptly asked another employee and got us a reliable answer. The bartender on the 2nd level was a delight. Venue: it's dinner 100 feet up in an old water tower... enough said. Conclusion: we were impressed. The food was exceptional and did not disappoint from my experiences at the Telegraph. We are encouraged by the Casual menu for its cheaper options for "non-celebration" style date nights. Given this experience I am thinking we will be seeing more of Lethbridge from 100 feet up. This was our first time visiting the water tower ever. It was our anniversary and we definitely felt well treated! We didn't make any reservations, but they were able to seat us in 15-20 minutes. During this time we just sat in the lounge and had a couple drinks. Our waiter, Eric, was such a highlight of the evening. He is actually also the Dining Room Manager as well. He was extremely enthusiastic, helpful and dare I say charming! He even offered to help us celebrate by offering a dessert or round of drinks to us. We never did take him up on the offer though. This place is on the pricier side, but honestly I have no complaints about the food. It was amazing, and since you are in the water tower, you have a pretty great view as well! The atmosphere was a bit dark, not horrible though. It was not loud at all either, quite quiet. We started off with some honey jalapeño wings, and no exaggeration... so amazing! Very juicy, crispy and fresh! No broken bones in our bath either! Decent amount of meat as well. We then got some bread rolls served on a hot cast iron skillet with brushed butter on top and chunks of sea salt. They were very delicious. All our food came out in perfect timing. Our entrees were our last part of our meal and they were so delectable. I had the 14 ounce ribeye and my wife had the 6 ounce tenderloin. Both served with a garlic mashed potato with Brie mixed in! We both had a butter blue cheese sauce for our steaks. My wife had a side of mushrooms and I had a side of charred carrots with honey butter! Seriously so delicious! Like I said though, it is a bit pricey A few things to note though. It was wing Wednesday and I believe our waiter forgot that, as we paid full price for them. Ridiculously good. My wife and I tried this restaurant this evening for dinner. What an amazing experience. We started with the pulled pork "fries". Imagine great pulled porked shaped like fries and then deep fried. Well, imagine no more. They have it here. Warm bread rolls with two types of butter appeared and were devoured. The Caesar salad was next. Just as good as it gets. Fresh, tasty and well plated. A must. My wife has the scallops and bacon. The presentation was incredible, and the portion quite generous. I had the Alberta braised lamb shank cassoulet. The lamb shank is braised for 6 hours and had the consistency of butter. It is served with delicious red beans and a farmer's sausage. Had we left at this point the dinner would have been all we could ask for. Given the nice ambience of the restaurant, and the friendly, professional wait staff we decided to linger over coffee and shared a warm date pudding cake with salted carmel, mascarpone cream and candied bacon. It is difficult to put into words how good this was. Just treat yourself to one. There is also a very nicely appointed full floor lounge below the restaurant that we will try next time. If you want to celebrate an occasion, or just go for a nice dinner then this is your place in Lethbridge. It gets 5 stars because there is no way to put in 6. read more

We hosted a meeting for 20 guests in their private dining area. The food was absolutely delicious. We started off with shareable apps. The bacon wrapped perogies were delicious. Our guests had a choice soup or caesar salad for starters; steak, salmon or chicken for their entree and apple crisp or creme brûlée for dessert. I have to say, the apple crisp was the bomb! The service was also excellent and Olga was really instrumental in helping our meeting run smoothly. The only downside was the noise from the lower level which made presentations and discussions a bit of a challenge. But overall, the dining experience was really excellent! read more

Visited the Water Tower with our family of four for the first time since it re-opened. Not impressed! Reserved online via Open Table, which worked out great as the restaurant was packed when we arrived at 6:45pm. We were seated and received our drink order promptly. Then we ordered the seafood tower - what a mistake! $46 for a bucket of cold seafood, bland mussels, a couple of oysters and shrimp, some stringy crab legs, and a small salmon poke. Then we waited...and waited...and waited for our main course, which finally arrived at 8:30pm. My NY Striploin was tough and full of fat and gristle. My wife's sirloin was dry and tasteless - might have been a minute steak! Supposed to come with warm potato salad and instead came with a few roasted potatoes. They were fine. Kids' chicken was incredibly dry. To top it off my wife has a dairy allergy and the kitchen kept bungling any questions we had. Manager gave us 30% off our bill and a $50 GC to come back. Great food at this reopened local landmark. The Queso fundido appie had a generous amount of cheese sauce, thoughtfully presented in heat retaining ceramic cast iron, and fantastic pastry-like homemade tortilla triangles. Squash ravioli came with a delicious coating of brown butter, smoked cream, charred squash dice and a sweet counterpoint of walnut crumble. The accompanying lobster tail was updated from old school to on trend with it's smokey grill and charred lemon. I appreciated the decor updates including fantasy photo overlays on the elevator doors. However the service was a big disappointment. Our hostess and waitress both disappeared for long periods making it difficult to even order food. In fact we left without ordering dessert because we had to leave. Responsibility for a mixup in food orders, delivered by a somewhat bewildering number of servers, was disavowed repeatedly and strenuously by our waitress as not her fault since "I did my job, they didn't do theirs!". I don't normally give review but this is probably worth a mention. I just had lunch with my friend, I ordered the smoked brisket on a bun. It was not brisket (advertised on the menu) it was a outside round cut that was not slow cooked at all nor trimmed of the gristle. To top it off it was sliced with t meat slicer with the grain of the muscle so was like chewing on tree bark. I told the waitress I am a 30 year veteran meat cutter and that it was not brisket nor cut correctly and very TUFF. I just ate my french fries and left the rest. She came back and offered me a crème brule. the service was extremely slow for a one our lunch so I declined the offer, however still got the $18.89 bill. I left the waitress a %15 tip cause its not her fault. But if my bill would have been scrubbed I would have left a $10 Tip or even 1/2 the price I would have left her the other 1/2 as the tip. So that being said, NO more tower for me. $22 french fries don"t cut it! I had been there 2 times before and the fries are pretty good but the service for lunches are not for the regular working folks so plan at least 1-2 hour of just being there! read more

Visited for dinner his past Sunday as a group of four after reading about Alberta Feast fixed price dinner offer. Had high expectation of fine dining and we were extremely disappointed. After perusing the menu and at the advice of our server, one of our party had the special dinner and the three others decided to have the Prime Rib. The special dinner consisted of an appetizer of three pieces ( one inch cub es)of roasted beets and a citrus dressing, 6 oz, sirloin with Brie mashed potatoes, and broccolini. It also included desert of 3 small servings of gelato. The special was nothing special and at $40. quite pricey. Our prime rib was very disappointing. Our server made a point of stressing as did the menu info that the beef was AAA Prime. We all ordered medium rare and it was past medium. More than half of the cut was fat and gristle. The cuts were barely 1/4 inch thick. I've had better cuts in a pub. The potatoes were yummy though. When we pointed out the amount of waste, our server advised the manager and they gave us 20% off. Would much rather had a decent cut of meat. Also had a Caesar salad to start and the dressing was great, but spoiled by the badly rusted romaine. If all their ingredients are locally sourced as stated, they need much better quality control. We also had desert which were very good. Service was extremely slow; restaurant was not very busy at all. Would have loved a coffee or tea with desert, but no one asked. Probably would not return. Spent a pleasant Thursday evening in the Lethbridge Water Tower Lounge. Scarfed down 3 oysters, but I should have ordered 9 because appetizers were priced half-off on Thursday. Turned out the the oysters were fresh, light and gently flavorful, just as an oyster should be. The oyster dish was presented on a dish of crushed ice with kale and half a lemon. My 6-oz. Alberta beef steak in a peppercorn sauce avec "Frites" was done to a perfect medium rare. The"Frites" were excellent. The dark ketchup was a good accompaniment. I splurged and ordered two lobster tails on the shell with clarified garlic-butter served in a stainless steel mini gravy boat. The lobster was thawed Nova Scotia goodness, which I shared with my son. My son savored his Charred Tomato Soup which came with Parmesan chips. He thought the Pulled Pork sticks were so good he was tempted to order another serving. Table service was attentive, professional and pleasant, but when we ordered a second round of bottled beverages, it took over 10 minutes to be delivered to our table. As we were seated right next to the bar, I could have grabbed my beverages within seconds of ordering, but no, we waited 10 minutes for the second round to be delivered to our table. The view of the sunset on a November autumnal evening was calming. The ambiance of the lounge is of understated smoothness, with many water valves. The bar/lounge does have several TV screens airing a variety of professional sports, which are by no means intrusive. Some TVs are hung above a fireplace with a coffee table setting for four patrons. The music/muzak is just what I like, perhaps because I was born in the mid-1950s. It is still easy to converse. The air is fresh and the room temperature is around 25 Celsius. If you enjoy fresh air and feel like an after-dinner walk, you can strut around the outside of the water tower, a mere 100 feet above the streets of Lethbridge, and peer down on upon your car, then gaze towards the south and embrace Milk River Ridge, then veer southwest and spy the granite wall known as Big Chief of the Rocky Mountains. We came here for our Anniversary after hearing that it was a great place to eat. How disappointing! The beef in my Beef Dip was some of the poorest, toughest meat I've ever tasted. If that is what Benchmark beef is like I hope I never find another restaurant using it. Maybe a cull cow got in the steer pen. My wife had fish and chips, the batter on the fish was so hard it couldn't be cut, you had to punch your way through it. The service was not much better, no follow up on how the meal was. They have complimentary WIFI, but our waitress didn't know the password and never got it for us even though she said she would. I usually give a place two chances before making a judgement, but I don't think I could bring myself to try this place again. Also the website says the full menu is available from 11:00 am - 11:00pm. First of all, booking a reservation online is absurdly difficult. We thought we had booked a reservation in the restaurant but when we arrived, we were told our reservation was for the lounge. We weren't interested in eating in the lounge. There was a lovely young lady working in the restaurant who tried to have us seated at a table where a reservation was set for a time after we would be finished. She checked with the owner, who was speaking on the phone. The owner got off the phone and said we couldn't be seated there because whoever she was talking to on the phone was going to be seated there instead. So people who aren't even at the restaurant yet can get a seat before we could? We ended up in the lounge, sadly. Where the food was lacklustre. The fish was okay, but the fries tasted used, old and burnt. The two other dishes we ordered arrived cold. You would think they got an idea of our opinion of the food when we left most of it on our plates. Then the owner came over to ask how it was. When we explained how we felt about it, she told us we might have better luck next time. When we told her there wouldn't be a next time after this terrible experience, she said, "Good!" We didn't demand a table in the restaurant, or hot food, or some kind of compensation for the trouble. Though any of those things would've made this terrible experience slightly better. This was my first visit to the Water Tower and I was very disappointed. Father in law had booked the private dining room for a group of about 25 people, we all arrived on time and were seated not in the private dinning room but down the side with two long tables and separated space, not conducive to great visiting for half of the guests. It took 45 mins to even get our first drink, another 30 mins before we ordered from a select menu that only offered three mains (which is fine and expected for a large group) but the real challenge was asking the children to keep waiting and waiting as it was almost 1.5 hours before we were even offered bread or salad and almost 2 hours before we even got our food. The steak was decent but not $50 worth and the chicken and ravioli dishes definitely were not worth the $50 a plate price tag.
