The best dentist I have ever experienced. They are caring and were much better with my children than the pediatric dentist I tried before. I would recommend them for the whole family! The whole staff will make you feel welcomed and you will get quality care. read more

Dr. Allisons fother was my dentist from early 60's until he retired. This practice is so much like him. Best dental care I've had since Dr. Varn retired. I highly recommend them to anyone needing companionate and excellent care. read more

Not welcoming front desk. Went there for cleanup and checkup the moment I entered the clinic the receptionist looked at me from down up checking me up her face was cold I showed her my insurance card and asked her I they'll work with them her answer was I don't know you should call them and ask them then come back if we do. Other clinics they will call and check if they will covered in their clinic. Bad experience Terrible and Sad some people still lives back in old centuries. read more

Dr Allyson Monferdini and Dr. Harold Varn are a father-daughter team of general dentists who love their patients and strive to serve them and their families with the best, most comprehensive, dental care possible. They serve Lugoff, Camden, Elgin, Columbia, and other areas of Richland and Kershaw counties.

Established in 1974.

Dr. Varn started this business in 1974. His daughter, Dr. Allyson, joined him in 2004.

Meet the Business Owner: Dr Allyson M.

Dr. Allyson Varn Monferdini, a 1995 graduate of Lugoff-Elgin High School and a 1999 graduate of Wofford College, returned to her hometown to practice dentistry with her dad. After graduating from the MUSC School of Dentistry in 2003, she completed a general practice residency in Charleston before returning home in 2004. Allyson and her husband, Rad, are happy to live so close to family, especially since welcoming their son, Josh, at the end of 2011. Allyson loves sports, especially college football and basketball. Go Gamecocks! Dr. Hal Varn was born and raised in Columbia, SC and graduated from Columbia High School in 1963. He attended the University of South Carolina and following graduation in 1967, he completed his masters in biology while teaching at Dreher high school. He and his wife, Sylvia, then moved to Charleston where he received his dental degree from MUSC in 1973, exactly 30 years prior to his daughter receiving her degree at the same institution.

I've been to 3 previous clinics for the same issue all of whom could not give me any answers. After meeting Dr Richardson I have renewed faith that I may find an answer here. She is exceptionally professional, friendly and has exemplary bedside manners. The front staff and checkout staff were great. They were welcoming and friendly. They seem to do their job very well. I paid special attention to their interactions with other patients while I was in the waiting room due to having read previous reviews. They treated everyone well and even laughed and joked with a couple patients who seemed to be regulars. The nursing/assistants I met were very kind and friendly. I really enjoyed meeting everyone today. The wait time was almost none at all. I think I was in the waiting room for 5 minutes beyond my appointment time. Dr. Richardson spent plenty of time with me and was thorough. All this despite having an incredible amount of patients arriving and departing the clinic. The only complaint I have with my experience, which really isn't the fault of the practice, is the parking situation. The parking spots are so close to each other and I got definitive proof of that as I was leaving. After getting in my car it notified me it had been jarred.... I get out to see if any damage had occurred and sure enough a big rash on my fender. Somebody hit my car and just left. No note, nothing. I wouldn't be too bothered by this except now it has white paint on its front fender from whomever hit me.

All they had to do is read insurance on file. But the front desk told me "they would be a no charge today". How bout the half day wages and my time. Billed me for $562 they said it was for my appointment in Feb. At that time they happily took my BCBS card, I paid a co-payment but waited till Jun 27th to bill me this out of network charge. The office manager said on the phone they haven't ever taken BCBS insurance. But they took mine. Wow what a terribly managed office. Billing dept said it had to be recoded at the visiting office the visiting office said it's the billing dept that has to make the change.

The follow up for the procedure I had with him was quick & painless. After check ins, the nurse prepped me mentally and physically for the procedure. She was very professional and kind, definitely the kind of nurses we want to engage with. Dr. Petit's execution of the surgery was less than 10 minutes and painless. I was in and out of the office within 30 minutes or less; amazing! No issues with pain or problems post procedure; testament to Dr. Petit's skill. Only thing the office can do better is follow ups on what they say. I need to do a follow up ten days post surgery and I've called few times. Apparently nurses are the ones who schedule you to see the doctor and I've been told numerous times I would get a call back. Even after leaving voice mails, I never got a return call, so the support team there can do better in communication.
