First time visit and sat at the bar to listen to the music. Just happened to sit next to the new owner and had a great chat with him. He's fixing the place up and turning it into a blues destination with live music. Was here mostly for the music and of course a drink, and both were fine. Both nights the patrons were friendly and talkative, exactly how a dive bar should be. The bands came on at 8 which I really appreciated! The bartenders double as the waitresses so they were working their butts off. Friendly and competent. Saturday night it was jammed, SRO, but we were finally able to get a seat. They could maybe use some more chairs - or maybe figure out a way to rearrange the tables - it was a seating nightmare - but we survived. Not sure if they were expecting that many people, they actually ran low on glasses, but growing pains for the new owner, I'm sure they'll sort it out. Saturday night we ordered fries and they were good. Kudos for Steve for even making them with the jam packed house. Since we love the blues I'm sure we'll be back.

We walk in and we all show our ID's to the bartender. About 5 minutes goes by and the bartender comes back over to us and explains " the manager called and said some of you look under 21" and that " we must leave immediately"... we thought it was a joke, but it certainly was not. We all left promptly and went to the liquor across the street and played uno at home instead (way better than the salty dog anyway) Totally explains why there was 4 people in there on a Friday Night !!! I hate writing a bad review but id like to prevent anybody else from having this experience ! Go to on the rocks 1/4 mile north of there if you want to have fun / a good time with your friends that enjoy karaoke and actually getting served . Made for a good story and a reason to never go back. Marty if you're reading this, either make a way for your bartender to feel confident reading an ID, or get a scanner to confirm authenticity. Certainly never bringing any friends there for a good time again. Now, I should mention, this was me and my mother who visited the bar, and the only reason we stopped in there was to chat with my mothers boyfriend. It ended up being that my mothers boyfriend paid the tab. Which means they got paid twice. Also, I would like to add that moms bf shouldn't have paid the bill, because I already paid the tab. I wanted to see the footage then and I want to see it now, because I genuinely am curious to see who it is that stole the money!!! Then I hear from my mothers boyfriend, that the barmaid said that she doesn't want us back in there, apparently we are now labeled as thieves. One point I'd like to make is why in the world would I put the $14 out on the "under bar" in the first place, if I planned to just steal the money back? Wouldn't it make more sense to just not put money down in the first place? This is so petty and ridiculous. I want the establishment to review the footage. We ordered lamb chops 10/10, lemon pepper wings 10/10, and mashed potatoes 4/10 they were salty and little cold. I ordered a blueberry lemon drop which was delicious 10/10. I can see myself returning.
