My son and I had decided to stop by as it is a place I had been wanting to try. We live an hour away, and happened to be in the area for something else. When we drove up, the owner was casually replacing the thermostat in his RHD Mini so, as car enthusiasts ourselves, stopped to chat before we went in. Seat yourself wherever you want. They have love bands or karaoke every Friday night. Now to the important parts - Julie was our server and she was amazing. She kept an eye on us even when a large party came in that sat in her area. Drinks stayed replenished and lots of updates on food. I ordered the Southern Belle burger with beer battered fries and fried green tomatoes as an app. Both were absolutely amazing. The burger was huge and you could tell it was a handmade patty grilled to perfection. The juice just poured out when you bit into it, so maybe tuck a napkin in your shirt LOL. My son ordered a Hot something that had a spicy sweet BBQ sauce on it and he said it was "bussin.'" He also ordered fries as his side and fried pickles as his app. There was nothing left when he was done. The servings are well proportioned and I left full with half my food available to eat later. I got a photo of my fried green tomatoes, but as a fat kid, I forgot to take a photo of my burger. Just trust me. It was absolutely worth every reasonably priced penny and every moment we waited. 1. April was our server, she was in her third day and she was amazing, they hire talented people. 2. Ginger the lead singer is amazing and the guitarist is out of this world, I'm going to follow them all over East Tennessee. 3. They revamped the food menu and it's good, I got the pork tacos and they were really good. I don't really care for their salsa but that's a personal preference, I'm talking about chips and salsa salsa. It's too sweet for me. 4. Not very happy with the service. Our server good, but two of the others working today not happy with not wearing gloves to make salad. One even put the cheese on the salad then fed herself cheese as well. I don't have much to say besides if this behavior doesn't change this place won't make it. Don't let the "waterfront" fool you. There's a small man made pond, close by, and j guess you can see it if you eat outside. The fish and chips were made with swai fish...not quite expected fish... A little, quiet spot with outstanding food. We went there for their dog policy, and they really delivered. If your best friends had a really cool backyard, and the mom was a great cook, the beer was ice cold and they were good with you and your dog coming by; it's this place . Locals own it, and it shows. Waterfront is a good place to go if you simply want a drink and hang out. Sadly, if you want more than that, you'll be disappointed. The food is nothing impressive and not worth the money, especially since the service is not anymore impressive. They may need more help but, the service is slow and forgetful. It took a half hour for our server to just get us waters. If you just want drinks, it's a great vibe! But don't expect much. read more

It was a beautiful day yesterday so we wanted to eat outside. Waterfront bar and grill has outdoor seating with a view of the river. The sign said seat yourself so we did and someone came out very quickly to see us. They were very friendly and helpful. The food came out quickly and it was all very good. Went to this place for the first time this. Sat outside which had nice views. Inside had a cool layout but they do smoke inside so if you don't like smoking, I prefer you sit outside. Our waitress was nice. Food took awhile to get. I ordered the cheeseburger wrap with sautéed onions & bacon. When I got the food, they got me a cheeseburger with raw onions. Not the wrap.bummer. Went here for lunch on 11/28. Kim was our server and was just fantastic! Her friendliness and charm was evident from the first time she greeted us. Drinks were returned to our table quickly with great conversation and kindness. When asked what SHE would have, Kim thought through and gave a recommendation. I asked about the Big Pig Burger and her eyes widened saying "Oh, that's REALLY good." I also asked for well done onion rings and a side of fried okra ALSO well done. My other lunch team had their Tuesday Cheeseburger special. When the Pig arrived, it was almost 7 inches tall with all of the fixins on it. The cheeseburgers looked delicious one of which had an extra patty. The flavor of everything was just outstanding. And, most importantly, the onion rings AND the okra were ACTUALLY well done and very crunchy just as I asked. Throughout the entire lunch, Kim stopped in to see what else we needed. With the ambience of a diner-style environment still with TVs for the big games, it was very homey and warm. They also offered outdoor seating with the plastic up today to keep the wind down with the 40-some degree temps today. HIGHLY recommend this place and can't wait to go back to try something else. The food was good, service was good and the view was good. The major problem is that they allow smoking inside and on the outside deck. I opened the door to the restaurant and a cloud of smoke came billowing out so I tried the deck. People were smoking there as well, but it was a little more tolerable since it was outside. After awhile all the smoking was unbearable. I had a few bites of my meal and had to leave because of all the smoking. The view is awesome, you can sit outside overlooking the park and water and downtown. The food was mostly edible. That's the best I can say. The service was also mediocre. The bun to our burger was soaking wet with grease, it was inedibly wet and had to be removed, then we had to eat the rest of the burger with a fork and knife. The server told us it was our fault because we ordered the burger medium-rare. (1) the burger didn't even come out medium-rare. (2) there are millions of burger joints all over the world that can successfully serve a burger on a dry toasted bun. read more

I had read on one of the Maryville FB pages that the Waterfront had great burgers. My husband loves a good burger and we use to go to Hotrods and then Smoky Mt Brewery. This will be our new Burger place. They were delicious and huge. Toasted bun and a charbroiled patty cooked perfectly. The fries were great also. For those that are uninformed Waterfront IS a bar first that happens to sell food so there is smoking allowed inside and on the patio. This is a place in Maryville where people really do know your name. Charmingly nice, this is a good little place to either sit at the bar or sit on the deck outside to get some sun and have a beer. The bartenders are incredibly nice and attentive. They join in on conversation and are quick to refill your drink. I don't think they have draft beers, but they do have a good selection of domestics and imports. Now this is a 21+ bar, so beware if you are super sensitive to smoke. You might want to hang outside if this is the case. You can smoke in the bar here. They also do live music at night, so check in with them for updates. read more

We wanted to eat inside however the restaurant reeked of cigarette smoke. Outside patio seating people was also smoking and now I have a headache after finishing my meal (that was my fault for not reading that this facility is smoke friendly which is rare in the state of Tennessee) I did not order alcohol, however I was carded. I have never experienced anything like that and it completely put a damper on the rest of the experience. The burger was surprisingly good as were the onion rings. When we were given our bill my husband was charged $1 for cheese. The menu states that all sandwiches included cheese. I asked the waiter about it and he said the fish sandwich was the only "sandwich" that didn't include cheese. Nothing indicated that on the menu. He said he could not remove the charge even though our bill did not correctly reflect the menu prices. I would have been even more dissatisfied with our experience if we paid full price. Got a to go order of a Cajun chicken wrap and a side order if onion rings. The onion rings cost $4 extra. I got home and opened the box to find only 5 very small rings in the box. I called to tell them of my displeasure and only talked to the server that never offered to let me speak with a manager or any other way to resolve this issue. Because of this I will never be back.
