I've been complaining about running and stomping over my head since I moved here in December and they can't do anything but try to "document" it, which is hard to do since it's not party noise. They claim to have a community attendant who has never shown up to investigate the noise I've complained about. Now, the noise line says they can only come out if the noise is happening at the moment. The office staff have come by and tried to listen for noise, but if it's not happening when they stop by, it's not a problem. I'm paying too much money to deal with noise every evening. Skip these apartments and find another property. Oh, and they will let you transfer units for a ton of money. Scam! Save yourself.

The grounds are well maintained, the staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and quick to respond. The structure of Shadow Brook is a non profit and the apartments are leased for ranges, based on your income (though it IS NOT section 8 housing). They offer efficiencies on up, and are usually on a wait list. They only show apartments on Fridays and do not always have one to show each Friday, though they do have a photograph album of model apartments and floor plans. Initially I was nervous to rent an apartment without seeing the unit first, but I couldn't be happier. With the option I chose (the loft style 1 bedroom) I have plenty of space and am able to live on my own affordably ($490 a month rent). Many of my friends and classmates pay nearly double to live, in many cases, a worse complex. When I moved to Arlington and told people I live at Shadow Brook I usually got an odd look, and some informed me that it used to be bad, but that was before Foundation Communities bought it a couple of years ago. Today, I have never felt unsafe nor have I worried about being ripped off or felt like my neighbors were shady. Upon my renewal they cleaned my carpet for free, they offer residual pest control and special request pest control visits each Wednesday (at no additional charge, without limits) and they use ABC Pest and Lawn. In the back of the complex is a boys and girls club and at tax season United Way sets up and helps you file your taxes for free. At least once a month they have a "produce day" where fresh produce can be bought at a good cost in the front of the building. Its close to UTA (actually a shorter bike ride for me than a drive due to the traffic on Cooper) and well located. I will renew again next year if it continues to be the wonderful property I have enjoyed.

It's clear that management has no interest in addressing basic maintenance issues or providing a decent living experience for their tenants. On top of that, the property feels completely unsafe. Packages were frequently stolen, cars were broken into, and I even heard of motorcycles being stolen right off the property. The lack of security is alarming. If you're considering moving here, I strongly urge you to think twice. Between the lack of basic utilities, unresponsive management, and the constant feeling of insecurity, this place is not worth it. Save yourself the headache and look elsewhere. Hallways often smell like marijuana, floors are dirty, and there are dead bugs throughout common areas. Exterior doors are frequently left open, which has led to non-residents entering the building and even sleeping in the hallways. Packages are also frequently stolen from the mailroom, which adds another layer of concern around security and management oversight. On top of that, management has been unresponsive and tends to make excuses instead of fixing problems. The outdoor areas are poorly maintained, with dog waste covering much of the grass. For the price, the living experience is well below average. I would not recommend this property to anyone looking for a safe, clean, and well-managed place to live.

We have renewed our lease 3 times and transferred a couple of times with a downsize to a one bedroom as we are now empty nesters! The amenities are endless and worth every penny. I feel very secure in the gated community. Very pet friendly the grounds are kept clean and I've never had to wait longer than 24 hours for a routine maintenance request. Everything is always in great working condition. So if you're thinking of living here look no further! Jasmine, Karen or any of the other staff members will gladly help you out. Very professional and modern design in every unit. Also they have great community events with food and drinks and games with awesome prizes. They also have various food trucks. We love it here!

The water stain is growing and encompasses more than half the length of the wall, near the carpet. The carpet is wet from waste, and my apartment smells like manure. I am unable to use the toilet, electrical socket on the wall and enjoy the comforts of my home because I am fearful of the sewage smell and spreading of water. Do I really have to spend 16 months in this dump? Please help. (Update 9/26/17: please disregard Camden's response. The issue has not been resolved the last time I checked, which was this morning when I woke up.
