I visited Waters Edge with my family this past weekend before we went to a movie at the Drafthouse (just across the parking lot), and we had a good time! Waters Edge is a winery and a bistro - so you can come for drinks or a meal or both. We were told that they make all of the wines on their menu, of which there are dozens of wines on their menu. I've been to a few urban wineries before, and it's an interesting concept. Waters Edge buys grape must (crushed grapes) from around the world and then craft and bottle wines made from that must at their locations (this Dallas location is one of 15 across the country). Wanting to try a few of their wines, the four of us shared two flights of five wines each. We tried the Tour of Armenia and Alec's Flight (a rotating selection of wines by their winemaker). Did I like every wine? No. But I thought most of them were pretty good. Personally, I'm not sure they need to make this many wines; I'll always prefer a business that does ten things well than fifty things fine (the Cheesecake Factory rule). But most of the wines were pretty nice (of the 10 I tried, I wouldn't drink 3 or 4 but wouldn't mind drinking the rest again). I appreciated that many of their wines are Armenian style, because I haven't had much opportunity to try Armenian wines. We also ordered a few snacks - they have a full food menu. We shared their Deviled Egg of the Month (2 eggs - 4 halves) and their Cheese is Life Board (two cheeses, hot honey, giardiniera, and crispy flatbread), which were both good snacks. They've been open just under a year, but the place doesn't feel quite lived in yet. The dining room has a large room divider in it, set up like a bookshelf. It has books and card/trivia games about wine and more. But many of these items were still wrapped in plastic, making it feel a little impersonal. The service was good, and it's a comfortable place to spend a couple of hours! The food we had was pretty good. The wines in my opinion are just okay - probably not the spot to take a wine snob on a date. But they have a large variety of wines, so you're likely to find one or many that you like. I ate here a few times when they first opened. The chef was nice and came out a few times to get our feedback on her dishes the first visit. After that, when we went back, the dishes had changed and were no longer as good. The service was always very lacking at each visit. Then by chance my ex husband started working there and the managers and owners helped him evade child support. They refused to respond to the Office of the Attorney General and when I spoke to the manager and the owner, they said they would not help. Shame on you! Helping to keep money away from child support is wild. read more

Waters Edge Winery & Bistro is an amazing choice if your in the mood for wine flights. The wine flights are reasonably priced and the pours are better than average. My bestie and I came and had an amazing time. They have happy hour Tuesday - Thursday and Sundays until 6 pm. They also have a Chef's Happy Hour Special that consists of 5 pours and 5 bites for $35 for one person or $60 for two. The bites consist of stuffed mushrooms, deviled eggs, toasted ravioli, and parma frites with mini fondue. On Wednesdays they have "Wine Down Wednesdays" and offer 25% off glasses of wine and bottles. My wife and I stopped in for a drink recently and had a great time. The place is spacious with several seating areas (tables, couches, and bar). We sat in the area with couches and each had a glass of wine. I enjoyed my Temecula Valley Malbec and my wife enjoyed her German Gewurztraminer wine. The staff were friendly and informative. I came here on a random Friday and by Sunday I became a member. The staff that I've had interactions with are great. Quincy, Sean, Preston and Katy have been so kind and friendly. I believe Preston is a sommelier and that is great to have at a winery. I can't wait to watch this place grow in the community and I'm excited to explore all the wines that they have to offer. They even have different events throughout the week on top of happy hour like trivia, bingo, or mahjong. Went there for a wine date with my wife. Service was poor, incorrect food was delivered to table, correct food has to be sent back as it had dead flies in it. Manager (perhaps owner) disappeared from the restaurant and left other staff members audibly upset at the lack of management and assistance as one other waiter attempted to service the place single-handedly. Wishing great things for Waters Edge. I live in the neighborhood so I stopped in with family this past Friday night. What a treat. Andy greeted us and gave some great info about the concept and was very engaging! We had a great experience for the rest of the night with Fernando, our server. He was very attentive and also a joy to talk with. We even met chef Jace who came by the table to check on us personally and share some more info about the food. The food was wonderful! This new restaurant in the Lake Highlands area, is absolutely lovely. We went for brunch on a Sunday, they have a two entrées and a bottle of Prosecco brunch special for $44. Who could beat that! The food was extraordinarily good. The chef came and spoke to us about upcoming events and special menu features. She was lovely and very excited to be in the neighborhood. This place has a lot of potential but I have to write an honest review. The ambiance is great - obviously a lot of attention to detail and decor. And the food was really good - the flatbreads and handhelds were excellent. However, a group of 5 of us were there for lunch and despite being the only ones in the restaurant the food took a very long time to come out, it wasn't all brought at once, and the last to come out (not exaggerating, at least 20 minutes after everyone else) was wrong. To be fair, they did comp our whole meal but by that point we were about to walk out. They were very nice and apologized profusely but it was just painful. read more

We went to try a glass of wine at Waters Edge Winery and Bistro last night. Don't let the outside facade fool you, the inside has been transformed into a warm, welcoming, and wonderful tranquility. So, we decided to have two flights of wine, and some food!! Our young daughter ordered some flat bread, with all kinds of toppings, much like a pizza. It was incredible. I had the Tuna, which was so tender, and melt in your mouth. My wife had the pork, which was also very tender and tasty. We had an excellent waitress that took care of our every need, with a smile and kind words. Wait, there's more! A wonderment of the ambiance was a two piece band that played soft, and memorable music for our pleasure and enjoyment. We plan to return again tonight! More details to follow!
