I spend a lot of time at public and private courses watching my family play. For the price to play this course it's NOT WORTH IT. We booked online, accidentally double charged, the lady in the pro shop was rude dismissive and refused to update the cost to 1 player, 1 spectator. The entire course smells like the elephant exhibit at the zoo. The golf carts are on their last leg, weren't even washed down with old trash still in the carts. Which honestly if we had been attempting to navigate the rough terrain with a decent cart we would've been tossed out. IF there was water to clean your ball, it smelt like sewer water as though it had never been changed. The beverage cart system wasn't working so no service there.... For a mediocre hole layout, awful terrain, used and abused carts, lack of basic services and zero customer service.... the price is extreme. read more

Booked a 7:21 AM tee time on a Saturday morning--perfect weather and it hadn't rained in over 12 days. Got to the course to check in and was told that early morning tee times are only for 9 holes so people can get back home. So if you're planning to play 18, make sure you book late enough. But here's the kicker--if you tee off 1.5 hours before sunset, they won't let you book just 9 holes. The logic is all over the place. It gets better. The first tee time of the day was listed as 7:01, but they decided to hold everyone until 7:30. That completely contradicts the whole "get people home" idea. If you're not going to let people start at 7:01, then don't book tee times that early. Since they were making everyone start late, we asked if we could at least hit some balls--nope. Driving range doesn't open until 7:30 either. So if you book an early tee time, make sure you warm up somewhere else before you show up. When we finally got to the tee box, we were told the group ahead of us had a twosome that was late, even though there was already a single there ready to go. The clubhouse wanted to hold everyone until the other two showed up because they were "down the street." Thankfully, the starter--a super nice lady--recognized how ridiculous that was and pushed to let us go ahead so we could actually tee off. From there, things were solid until the 4th hole. A fertilizer tractor caught up to us and followed us hole by hole, pulling up to the greens at the same time we were trying to chip and putt so he could start working immediately after. I get that maintenance has to be done, but why do that at 8:15 AM on the first perfect-weather Saturday in weeks? That's something you handle on a Monday or Tuesday. The frustrating part is the course is actually starting to look really good. But overall, it's one of the most unorganized courses I've played in a while read more

I was a bit concerned after seeing the 2 star review but after playing I really have no idea how. It was a great course, greens and tee boxes were in great condition. Practice green and chipping were also great condition. We saw the cart girls 4 times and the course had burgers. read more

sad situation. Arrived to find out we had to play the back twice because the front was aerated. Didnt tell us the front was aerated until check in. Didnt ever tell us the back was also aerated. large wet mud/clay plugs on every hole covering the fairways causing non stop 1/2 inch thick blobs on bottom of golfs shoes and stuck on cart tires. Golf shoes unbelievably unplayable and tires constantly slinging mud/clay blobs. hardly any roll due to so much mud/clay and balls needing cleaning after every shot. tried two ball washers, both dry, (on a course covered in mud/clay). lots of areas without grass. There are no signs leaving the cart area to direct you to hole one or ten. Dumb! Cost was a senior rate of $42 and change. i wouldnt play this course for free in this condition if i lived across the street much less make the 45 minute drive again. I've been a member of this course for almost 15 years. However, I canceled my membership today. The staff is always rude, but today was even worse. There were no teetimes available because they currently only have nine holes open. I pay my monthly dues every month, on time, and have done so for over a decade. First of all, charging $64 is criminal for the playing experience they give you. The range was in decent shape and the fairways weren't bad. Most of the tee boxes were moved around or had some type of construction while the greens were all dead and bumpy and inconsistent speed due to the varying levels of dryness. The weirdest part of the round however came when my buddy and I stopped at the turn for a beer and sandwich. It was a busy Tuesday so they were out of sandwiches, totally understandable. The lady offered to make more sandwiches if we were willing to wait so I said ok and ordered 4 beers total for my friend and I. She asks for my ID (I am 25 years old, 6'5 180 lb's with a full beard) which I provided immediately, my buddy is about 6'6 so just barely taller than me, she scans the ID for almost a minute then looks at my friend and goes "well how tall are you?" And he replies "umm I'm 6'5 and some change..?" And she says "well you look taller than him" referring to me. I was in shock trying to decipher if this was a joke or she was actually questioning the validity of my government issued ID based on the height. She continues to go on about how the height looks off to her to which I eventually got fed up snd told her to forget the sandwiches and to either scan the ID like any other bar would in America to confirm validity or simply sell me the beer. For God's sake there is such thing as pace of play. So she finally rings up the beer and we leave. Needless to say holes 10 and 11 were a blur trying to process such a strange interaction at a golf course. I work at one of the nationwide staples of hospitality and customer service and this is absolutely not how you interact with a paying customer nor should you ever make a guest feel so uncomfortable when you are working for tips. Lastly, hole 13 the guy operating this huge lawn mower never had the courtesy to stop it or let us hit in silence then proceeded to ride our butt the entirety of the hole which is unbelievable considering it's a 408 yard par 4. I've just never seen such a compound of unprofessionalism at a course and I can honestly say I don't ever see myself returning nor would I recommend another sound minded golfer to set themselves up for such an experience. read more

A great lay out on the course, but the staff does not understand how to run a golf course, nor do they have a clue what the word customer service means No water on the course, no drink cart, no ambassador to keep play moving, No grass in the fairways, the greens are so-so, but need assistance. There are much better courses to play within 10 minutes waterview. Disappointment is an understatement. The course is owned by the city, and run by American Golf.......Disappointed in both entities. This course has the potential to be an excellent course, but currently is a dud run by an inexperienced group that doesn't care about their course or customers. When I entered the Pro Shop at Waterview, there was no greeting whatsoever. The young man, Zach, long blond hair, who works in the Pro Shop, is the first person I HAD to meet. I brought a group of 13 men out from a convention for a planned golfing event. Reservations were made way ahead of time for golfers who would be renting clubs. I stood by the counter and had to speak to Zach first. He, obviously, was just there to pull a paycheck. They were short sets of club rentals, so some had to share with cart partners. I asked Zack what green fees were should I, personally, want to play. He said, very uninterestedly, "It varies." That's it??? It varies??? I asked what that meant. He said, "It changes every day." I asked if it was a Monday-Thursday one fee and different on weekends, and he said something about it being $20 after 1pm. I still didn't get my question answered. He was not forthcoming. He was ignorant of customer service, lacked social skills and very uninterested as to "selling and promoting" Waterview Golf Course. No pride in his job at all was demonstrated. His manager, hearing all this, poked his head out of his office and told me, rather matter of factly, that seniors play for half price on Wednesdays. Then he said, sarcastically, "Good job, Zak..." This man made no apologies for Zach's total unprofessional attitude. And that's the impression Zach emitted--Mister I hate my job--just a warm body behind the counter. He definitely had a "Zachatude" that he needs to drop. I'm not a women's libber by any stretch. I am an avid woman golfer. It did, however, by the unfriendliness shown to me, cross my mind that they might just not like women golfers around there. What would be my first clue, right??? The nicest two people I encountered were the two ladies operating the snack bar, Susan and Reagan. Susan, especially, could have given a workshop to Zack and the general manager on customer relations. Both are amazing and give a home feel to ALL they SERVE. Susan, was all smiles, so friendly to all who came for food or drinks. To the snack bar, I give 5 stars!!! Will I travel from my home in north Mesquite to golf at Waterview. No!!! But, I hope this review will encourage the general manager to step it up with presenting each patron with a smile and a welcome. There's so much more Waterview Golf Course could provide besides just a place to play golf. read more

I replayed this course this past weekend. Rowlett passed a bond package a couple of years ago and some of the money was to go for course improvements. The course has been closed most of this year. It looks like it was money and time well spent. All sand traps now have white golf course sand in them. The greens have been re-done, although everything is dormant right now you can see the potential for good growth and green fairways next spring into summer. The staff from check-in to the snack bar were much better. We saw what we think we Marshall's riding around, but they were pretty young to be Marshall's. I hope the improvement continues as I would like to put this course back into my foursome's rotation. read more

Awesome golf course. I love their twilight deal and Monday specials! It's also a very beautiful course with well maintained tee boxes, greens, fairways and the driving range is better kept than some other golf courses are .... period! Awesome bent grass greens roll nice and fast. 2 drivable par 4s from whites and even from the blues if wind is at your back and you hit your driver straight. (Numbers 5 and 14.) Watch out for #9 green as it slopes towards water on right side. Play your approach shot to left side of green and let your putter do the talking. Very much enjoy this course and recommend it to all to come play. You will not be disappointed. Lastly and absolutely not least. They have a great Golf Pro with Carlos Brown. He is a great instructor and he has helped my game tremendously. Thanks to his instruction I am hitting longer and straighter on a more consistent basis and my short game has improved drastically and has helped me shave many strokes off my game. I live in this community and have seen nothing but this course go downhill. It is overpriced compared to the other courses in the area. For the same price or less you can play at FireWheel or Woodbridge. I do like the 3 hole practice course, but it is so poorly maintained it is no fun to putt on. Lastly the price for a bucket off balls is too expensive, especially since you are hitting directly into the evening sun. PS. Alost no discount for Waterview residents. read more

I have played this course in years past, but played twice last month. The course has truly gone downhill in quality and looks. The greens are mostly all dried up! They have a special that includes green fees, cart and all you can eat at the clubhouse. Twice I went in and was told that none of the food is ready and it would take 20-30 minutes to prepare. The girls behind the bar have a horrible attitude! Why have an all you can eat special when you cannot even get a freaking hot dog! This is outrageous!!!! I will never play there again. The course in Sachse is only 5 minutes farther and way better course and service! Who ever is managing this course/clubhouse needs to FIRED!!!! read more

This was my 5th playing the course and I have to say that the course itself was in great condition. Given all of the rain, it was all very lush. We tee'd off shortly after 7am to avoid the heat and was hoping to be done by 11:30ish. However, it quickly became apparent that it wasn't going to happen. When we saw that we were on a 5.5-6 hour pace, we saw a marshal driving around. We stopped him and asked what the hold up was and he simply said that everyone was where they were supposed to be. I quickly came back with mentioning that if that were true, I'd be standing on #8 tee box instead of 6 tee box. He literally looked at us and drove off without saying a word. My partners and I just looked at one another and all we could do is laugh. The "marshal" clearly didn't know what he was doing or simply didn't care that it was going to take 5+ hours to play. We finished in 5.5 hours which is crazy for an early time like 7am. I stated that this is my 5th time playing and every time has been 5+ hours which is why I am writing this. Why have a marshal riding around when he does absolutely nothing? Reader beware! If your are looking to play in 4-5 hours, look somewhere else. read more

Entrance is run down, dead plants that have been there more than a year, trash and debris that never gets picked up. Very unkept. Tried talking to the manager but that is a waste of time. Sad state of affairs that once what was a great course has been allowed to become this run down. If you want more people to come your going to have to spend some money on it. In the last year-and-a-half all of the greens have gone steadily downhill. The range is never ready to be used in the mornings. The sand buckets are Never full of sand to fill in the divots. Most of the players either drag their feet on the greens and or don't fix their divots. Has to be the worst manage municipal golf course in north Texas. read more

That was the most over priced round of golf I have ever played. It was only $40 but the greens were half dirt and a quarter weeds. It was such a disappointment.
