I purchased a leather jacket and chaps from her probably 20 years ago and grew out of them so I needed to replace them. Although she had personal business to deal with she made time to make sure that the jacket fit me properly, she took it and back and did some sewing on it. Then she helped me pick out some leather chaps and again made sure that they were fitted cut to length and hemmed all while I waited. While I waited I found a hat that I liked and she is going to order the correct size for me. I also ended up buying a nice leather bifold wallet and a leather belt with tooling. So many nice things there. Bought a few things I wasn't planning on purchasing but I'm happy that I did. She always makes time for her customers and make sure that what they get is absolutely perfect for them. She does the kind of service that they used to do in the old days. Among my…read morefriends are some serious cyclists, so I've made many a trip up to Glen Swan's with them, and they absolutely swear by his work. They're road bikers and they buy parts, gear and clothing, and occasionally place orders with him (I'm pretty sure Glen does the whole spectrum of bikes, though). Glen does the repairs they don't know how to do - serious stuff, as Jennifer said. Glen also sells whole bikes in addition to parts at whoppingly awesome prices. He and his wife (and their two dogs) are extremely friendly, and Glen is extremely helpful to his customers as they make decisions or ask for recommendations. Also, Glen barely marks up his stuff, so if you're willing to make the trip up to his house (the drive is gorgeous), his prices are worth it. He prefers cash and is open from 5:30-8:30pm Monday-Thursday these days.

Talking on the phone for 5 mintues I explained my problem and the age of the bike (an old racing by from the 1970's). When I told the man on the phone the age and style of the bike, he said "Oh, that means it uses [some different mechanism to shift than newer bikes]. I was told to try tightening a small pin up by the gear lever. Lo-and-behold, my bike is fixed! I am seriously impressed by Swan Cycles' knowledge and customer service (he waited while I flipped my bike upside-down to pedal and change gears). I would highly recommend Swan Cycles to anyone wanting great customer service from a knowledgable team.
