After…read morea very short time, we were told that the thermostat was bad, but it wasn't worth relaceing because the furnace was old and the whole system needed to be replaced. A new thermostat was qouted to us at $300 and a new furnace would be an additional $2200. We asked them to leave and told them their services would not be needed. Another HVAC company was called to investigate the same problem. They also diagnosed the thermostat as the problem and replaced it and also cleaned the flame sensor to insure that it would be problem free. When asked about he condition of the furnace, the response was "Its in good shape an should last several more years without trouble". The bill was $100 for thermostat and the cleaning. I then received the bill from Air One for their service call. It was $116 for showing up and giving us outrageous prices. When questioned about the bill, the technician claimed that he also cleaned the flame sensor, but the second HVAC technician (from the other company) confirmed that it hadn't been cleaned in quite some time. Bottom line, Air One is expensive and they are going to try and talk you into buying new equipment even if you don't need it.

The hot water was still running out afterwards so they were contacted again. They said it was an electric problem so a full inspection was done by their electrician. We were told the electric panel needed to be replaced and was a fire hazard. If we went ahead with replacing it, the oven would need to be rewired requiring destruction of part of the walls leading to the kitchen. There were also smaller electrical repairs that could be done as well (outlets). If we repaired everything, it would be around $9000. We got a 2nd opinion from a local electrician who had zero concerns about the panel. When Peterman was contacted about this discrepancy, we were told it would be escalated to the supervisor who would contact us but over several weeks we did not receive a call. Due to the conflicting reports, we got a 3rd opinion to be sure, and again, there was no recommendation to replace the panel and the repairs Peterman suggested did not amount to $9000 in their opinion. We did have a good experience with them prior to this (regarding HVAC) but if you plan to work with them, would strongly recommend a second opinion for large projects. We have ended our monthly membership with them and will not be working with them again.
