I had Walter come to my house 3 times. First was to diagnose why my nest thermostat was overheating. Walter came by, very professional, covered shoes throughout, explained clearly and thoroughly the problem and diagnosed the base and a needed common wire as the problem. We installed a new base and ran a common wire and things worked great. A month or so later, found that the same issue was happenning. Called Nest, they walked me through how to debug, found out that I had another bad base, and with their instruction, I blew out a transformer. Walter came by on his day off (day before thanksgiving) to debug the problem and found that I had indeed blown my transformer, and promptly ordered me a new one which after the holidays he had ready. What was great about this was he did not charge for this visit as at that point we were without heat in cold NE weather and very frustrated with our Nest. He provided a workaround to give us heat during the holiday weekend until he was able to come by next week with a new transformer. Really appreciated this as we had family coming for thanksgiving. The following week, Walter came by, did what he needed to do, and now I have a working thermostat (knocks on wood). I would highly recommend Walter, he is very professional, explains things clearly, gives you the best solutions, and is genuine about ensuring your home works as it should. We were having 50 people over for a pool party and half of our pool shed didn't have power-can't have people going to the bathroom in the dark! I called Watt Electric based on the reviews I had read. I was pleasantly surprised when they said they could be at my house in two days! They were very professional, personable, and smiled!! It's just nice when people smile, well I think so! They quickly figured out what the problem was and fixed it, just had to pay the diagnostic fee of $186. Our problem was an easy fix so I think that's why we didn't have to pay more than $186. He also pointed out what was a dangerous situation, the previous owners put a non GFC outlet on the outside of the shed and it was not properly covered. I used that outlet quite a bit and never noticed that it wasn't a GFC. Anyway, they swapped that out with the correct outlet and the old one was completely rusted inside....probably one leaf blow away from a fire!! Walter Hernandez and his assistants are wonderful, knowledgeable, polite and neat. He has always finished work in much less time than I anticipated. He lines with plastic or covers with cloth every exposed surface, right down to his shoes, and vacuums any bit of dust that isn't caught by the drop cloth. When he's in the ceiling or behind the walls working he usually has a better suggestion for how to handle the job than I had envisioned. When he is here working, he has spotted lots of problems that I didn't even know about and fixed them. It seems like anything I ask he has the answer to, with regard to electronics, computers, you name it. He is also just a lovely person, soft spoken and very smart. I needed a few small things fixed so I called Watts Control after reading all the great reviews. I certainly was not disappointed! Walter and his apprentice Mynor came out the next morning, and arrived on time (even after a heads-up call from their office). Walter went over the estimate for the repairs, and then quickly completed the work. As he went along, he explained what he was doing and what had caused the problem. They were both very neat, quiet, and professional. And talk about attention to detail, Mynor even aligned the screws in the switch plates all the same way (how did he know that was my pet peeve!). Walter has helped us with several electronic issues and we would definitely call his again. Our heat stopped working upstairs right before this last big storm and he came by - after hours so our kids wouldn't need to sleep through the cold night. Had a very scary outlet situation and needed a repair ASAP. I made an appointment and WattsControl gave me a choice of times and dates, WattsControl sent me a confirmation email, and the electrician showed up on time. I was able to approve all charges up front, and they kept me informed of all charges as they went along. I received emails of the charges in real time as the repairs happened. He told me the furnace needed a new zone panel in order for the thermostat to work. We made another appointment.
