I'm sorry to give such a poor rating, but I felt it was important to be honest with the restaurant and those reading reviews. The location was perfect. Right on the water. The service was very good! In my experience that was all that was right with Waves . The lobster empanadas had a generous amount of lobster ,however there were bits of shell throughout and were excessively greasy. The menu seemed limited with mostly fried food. I was disappointed at the lack of fresh options. Sorry Waves, my family & I won't be back. read more

When visiting Puerto Rico I always like to eat food from the island, this time I visited Waves and I'm sorry to say I was extremely disappointed. We were a party of 13 and after ordering our appetizer which by the way took a little over an hour to come out we waited nearly two hours for our main entrees which we never had because we got tired of waiting and when we complained to the asst. manager nothing was done so we cancelled the order and left. We had three tables of which two did not get their main entrees. Customer service was lousy and the worst ever. It's a darn shame for a business to have such respect for their patrons. I will definitely NOT recommend this establishment to anyone. The only and best part of the evening was the beautiful sunset we enjoyed while there. read more

We were very tentative about Waves because of the previous reviews on Yelp, but we were pleasantly surprised. We had a party of 13 and attended to in a reasonable amount of time. I had the pulpo (octupus) in garlic sauce and a jueyes empanada & it they both were excellent. The seafood was very bland. Seems like all the seafood used in the emals were not fresh hence the lack of flavor.

Low quality, overpriced and shady. 10/10 would NOT recommend. Fish was tasteless and dry, and the churrasco tasted like pepper steak from a Chinese restaurant, and lobster tasted slightly spoiled. Took over an hour to receive our food, no water, while we watched people show up, get served, and eat. It's a shame because they're right on the water and have a cool atmosphere. read more

We came to Waves on a recommendation and were so disappointed. The wait staff was good, but it took well over an hour after we ordered to get our food. Each of the four entrees we ordered were terrible. Over cooked fish and chicken, dry, and not enough sauce to compensate for the dryness. The sides on each plate were a "salad" (one slice of pale underripe tomato on a measly bit of greens with no dressing) and frozen vegetables(peas, cubbed carrots and green beans like what was served in school cafeterias two decades ago). The additional sides we each ordered were 50/50-two were inedible and two were acceptable. If you are an American with any interest in fresh food or well prepared food, this is not your place. To make matters worse the food is over priced. The only thing that was good was the crispy fish bites. And they were really good. If you want the ocean view and drinks and a small bite, order the fish bites and just stop there and you will leave happy. If that is all we had ordered we would have left happy rather than disappointed and let down. read more

Forgot to look at the Yelp and online reviews before because of the long travel day and everyone was hungry. Easy to get to from where we were staying. I've been to PR prob 10-12 times and this was the 2nd worst meal I've had here. Not only was mine awful, no one ate their dinner it was that bad. Churrasco: had to been boiled then seared as their preparation method. It Pulled apart like a beef stew. It was bad. No one finished it. Churrasco Mofongo: the churrasco was cut in squares like you'd see in a frozen food section. they poured a mushroom gravy on it. Hint #1 that it wasn't good. Didn't get eaten Shrimp Mofongo: they poured a watery red sauce on it. Hint #2 that it wasn't good. Shrimp were large but bland. No taste. Kids chicken and rice: neither child ate any more after the 2nd bite. Rice was crumbly. Mofongo: we love Mofongo and this was the worst we've had on the island. Hence, they pour sauces all over it. How does a restaurant here screw Mofongo up? Bottled beer: even the beer was bad. Ordered a bucket of medalla and they put about 20-30 ice cubes in the bucket. It's 88 degrees out, the my are going to get warm pretty quick. However, we drank them and ordered another bucket and same thing. These got chugged because we didn't want warm beer and we're just ready to get back. Service: fine. Not bad. Not great. Just fine. read more

I came here with high expectations. We came on a Thursday and wings apparently are a quarter and shrimp are about .75 cents. We ordered about 8 of each and the wings were disappointing, it didn't really have much flavor. The shrimp were okay, nothing special. We sat at the bar and when we first got there the bartender took our drinks ( I had Jameson neat with sprite ) after that it took another bartender forever to get us another drink. They were just talking Amongst themselves. We barely had like 2 wings and I set it to the side. It took them about 25 minutes to realize that we were finish although there was napkins and trash on the plate to kinda be known we were done. Overall it was ok could've been way better read more

This place has a lot of potential. The atmosphere is wonderful. The staff was very helpful and nice. The food on the other hand was nothing to write home about. The lobster was dry and way over cooked. The garlic sauce lacked flavor. The veggies were from one of those frozen vegetable bags. The bill was too high for the poor quality. read more

Well... the food it's not bad, it's the service. You feel ignored & they don't offer you water at all. I was an hour there & they saw that my glass was empty and nobody ask if I wanted water; The only interaction was "How it's the food?" The freaking glass in the corner so they can see it and it's like "don't worry you will be good with air". Slow food service as well. The "Mofongo Steak with mushroom sauce" it's horrible taste like cheap Chinese pepper steak. I do not recommend this place. read more

Ok so the food did taste great. We did wait a long time for our order but honestly I don't mind that. The problem is two people in our party ordered the fried snapper. These people who ordered it are born and raised Puerto Rican so they have ordered this dish countless times. When the bill came the fish came out to $80 each. This is not a fancy restaurant. My lobster was only $25. The waitress claims she told us how much it costs per ounce but she did not. Should we have asked? Sure. But when this dish has been ordered countless times all over this island and has never been more then $35-40 dollars we never imagined it would have been $80 each. This restaurant is basically a nice shack on the beach. It screams casual. If your going to charge almost $100 for one fish I'd expect a finer dining experience. Not to wait for an hour for food at a picnic table wishing the waitress would come over so I could ask for a drink. read more

Well, the service was fair. The food, not so good. I ordered a fish fillet stuffed with lobster and, the fish was over cooked. I'm still waiting for the lobster. A mixed vegetable salad was served with the meal. One of those frozen salads you buy at the supermarket. Bad idea. The place has potential but has to improve. read more
