I've been getting a male Brazilian for about 10 years. Waxing the city is pretty easy to get scheduled without waiting weeks. The wax service is thorough and not rushed. The environment is cozy and the staff easy going. The only reasons I don't give it a 5 star are they are quite a bit more expensive for a comparable service elsewhere; and I can't always go shower immediately afterward, and it would be nice to get more than two swipes of post service cleanup. Having wax stuck to your parts the rest of the day is pretty uncomfortable, and if you're going to spend twenty minutes waxing, I don't think a thorough cleanup, (about 4 minutes at the place I used in Tucson) is out of the question...so that baby powder and wax and such isn't everywhere on the client when they leave. read more

I do not recommend you spend your money here. horrible customer service even if you are an established client. The employees treat you like you are in high school with them or are on the streets. I was a good customer and always tipped well . I will not return and have advised my friends and family not to go to this business. I've gone here a few times and I have got to say, this studio stands up the standard of Waxing The City. Waxing the City was my place back in Denver and I was disappointed when moving back here to have to go to...those other guys...You know the ones who leave hairs behind, aren't quite nice, the receptionists are rude, and well they are just pushing all their products? You won't find that here. The owner is friendly and each one of their employees friendly and knowledgeable. I love going here for each wax and today tried an eyebrow wax, because these boybrows needed some attention. They hadn't been waxed since 2012! Waxing is never super fun but Jocelyn made me feel incredibly comfortable and, because of that, it was probably the least painful of any experience I've had. I agree with previous reviewers that it felt like we'd been friends for years. There was never any lack of conversation and she seemed sincerely interested in getting to know me. The waxing room was very clean, absolutely no double dipping (basically a sin in the waxing world) and she was very aware of the heat of the wax and careful in her application. Waxing the City uses small strips that minimize the area being pulled from and they start slowly - going for areas that have less hair and then working towards more difficult areas. After the waxing was finished, she applied various treatments to prevent ingrown hairs and to soothe the skin but I appreciated her giving me a heads up that certain things would sting after application. It helps to be mentally prepared! Overall, one of the best waxings I've ever had and I'd recommend Jocelyn and Waxing the City to anyone! read more

I visited to try out lash tinting. I usually have eyelash extensions on, but I recently took a break and figured a lash tint would make it easier for my lash tech to apply extensions as well as help my natural lashes blend in, as they are usually a gray blonde color on their own. My "cerologist" was very sweet and professional and was able to translate the color I wanted into the color she mixed up for me. The whole procedure was comfortable and relaxing save the tint removal. She gave me wet cotton pads to wipe the tint off myself, and the water on the pads caused the tint to run into my eyes and I had to keep wiping to get it to stop, even though all I wanted was to sit with the cold pads on my eyes to soothe the burning. After a minute the burning subsided and my lashes looked beautiful. An interesting side effect was that my bottom lashes also ended up tinted, so they enhanced the makeup effect. Overall, I would recommend this place and the burning was not that bad. read more

This was my first time coming to this place and while I was a bit nervous the girls up front made me feel welcomed and overall just very nice. Andrea was my esthetician and she was pleasant and made you feel like you have been friends for years. I explained to her this was my first Brazilian wax and all of the shows/ talks I've heard about how much it can hurt. She laughed it off and said it's not as bad as ppl say and it wasn't. Went to Waxing the City for the first time this summer since it was really close to my house and I heard that they offered 50% off your first wax! I was not disappointed-- it's located in a bustling shopping center off San Pedro and Holly yet parking was easy. The studio itself was modern and clean and the staff was friendly. Getting a Brazilian wax can be intimidating so it takes a really personable and friendly person to get you through it. Luckily, the woman who did my wax was relatable and friendly and it wasn't awkward or very painful. After, she didn't try to sell me packages of waxing or products (just an exfoliating mitt for $3 that I already have) so I was really happy about that since I usually dread the end of appointments that end that way. The wax they use is very gentle for my sensitive skin (I have eczema and very reactive skin) and now I feel so smooth and clean.
