I've been trying to get myself comfortable in Texas by finding places to become my new spots for different maintenances. In terms of having to wax, it was a little tough going through all the Yelp suggestions of wax spots in the area considering Texas/Houston is HUGE. Thankfully, I found myself coming to this place. What drew me in was the first time wax promo they had if I'm being honest. However, I was very happy with my experience. I forget the name of the girl who did my Brazilian (Asia?), but she made the entire experience comfortable and she even helped share some Houston tips for a newbie like me. Mia. Request Mia. Let me explain. I just moved back to Texas and when you find your waxer--let me tell you, it's the hardest break up ever when you move. With that being said, I decided to try Waxing The City. They offer a killer 50% off your first service so I figured, why not. Thinking I'd be hopping from salon to salon for a while til I found my person but at least it would be half off a Brazilian, right? Welllllll..Mia did an amazing job of being personable but extremely professional. I am not going to say it was painless. (Brazilians aren't exactly a walk in the park, if you've never had one) However, Mia did a great job checking in with me and chatting away the whole time. The search has ended... I've found THE waxing spot in Katy! Finally! Not only do they have hard wax, great, but they have the soft wax too!!! My legs have not been this clean from a wax since I've lived in Arizona 10 years ago. The soft wax is a big deal for me because I have pretty fine hair and the hard wax doesn't always remove it. I went in today as a first time client, i booked online and they had openings available. The establishment is very nice, serenely quiet, smelled good and it was spotless and clean. The receptionist greeted me ,checked me in and then had me fill out normal paperwork. Aimee was my waxer and she did an amazing job. She was pleasant amd kept up a steady stream of conversation. I had a full Brazilian amd my eyebrows done. She really took her time on my eyebrows and they looked terrific. I was so happy with the outcome. Now lets move on to the lady bits. Ok so Brazilian's are just that Brazilian's. If you have never had one let me explain. They go after and get all the hair just like pokemon gatta chach em all , well that the Brazilian, gotta get all that hair. You can chose how bare you wanna go, you cat leave a patch or a landing strip. I prefer the bare is beautiful approach. Pain- yep its uncomfortable, however Aimee did a great job, she takes her time and strives for perfection. She gets into all the nooks and crannys and makes sure you are super clean even the bunny trail. If you don't know what the bunny trail is, well its the crack amd in between the bum. No little spiders lurking after she is done. So i can say I am super satisfied with my results and i will be back in 5 weeks for my next visit. read more

I have been going here for a year. No issues at all. I do all my booking online. Super easy. A few days before your appointment you get a friendly text reminder. I usually go with Asia. She's fast but still does a good job. She has always been very friendly with me. There have been a few occasions when Asia was not available so I went with Bee. She is so so nice. Really takes her time to make sure everything looks good. Honestly both are great. If you're in a hurry, definitely Asia. You'll be out in 15 min. read more

Unprofessional and just not a great experience. Asia was my cerologist. She came to get me from the waiting room while I was talking to the receptionist and was starring off and seemed to have an attitude like I was inconveniencing her by being there. Getting to the waxing I got a bikini wax and a inner buttock. She left lots of wax, and didn't go back in with tweezers to get any missed hairs. I got up with baby powder in lots of places. European wax center was way more professional and actually talked you through it and comforted you if it was your first time. read more

Caitlynn is great for dudes. Her humor keeps you comfortable for things that we don't nearly as often as our wives. There's a good chance you'll be laughing while she does ... the things that you come here for. I was referred here by another guy (an Aggie, but don't hold that against him.) I can't imagine how anyone wouldn't get what they need here. She's a super specialist in eyebrows. She spends extra time with people to make sure things are perfect, which sometimes causes an issue because your appointment might be delayed (most of this issue comes from people showing up late.) I've visited another Waxing the City location, but due to a recent move I decided to give this location a go! I scheduled an appointment for a Brazilian wax, and from scheduling the appointment to finishing the wax, the customer service was amazing! I had my appt. scheduled about 2 weeks in advance, and I had no troubles getting the time/date I wanted. They texted me a few days prior to my appointment to confirm it with me. Texting is a cool feature, since I usually can't answer calls at work (or in general ever LOL). The next day I actually needed to reschedule, and I was able to text back the same number and they rescheduled it for me with no problem!!! No having to call or jump online, just a quick text with my new appointment. The store itself is clean and modern, similar to any of the other Waxing the City locations! It's located on a main road in a small shopping center with easy parking. I had Aimee for my Brazilian wax, and she did an AMAZING job! She made me feel super comfortable and actually did one of the best, painless wax jobs I've had (and I've been going for years now). She was also really sweet, and we did small talk most of the time which always make it a little easier to not focus on the pain of my vag hairs being ripped out against my will. JK totally my will, but still... HAHA. I will DEFINITELY be returning to her! She also educated me on a product I really liked. Super laid-back atmosphere. The wax service itself was fine, not amazing but not terrible either. She didn't ask me what shape I liked or what I wanted to change about my brows, she just started waxing. Which is so weird to me. The customer service was pretty crappy...didn't feel welcomed when I got there, receptionist seemed disinterested, the waxer hardly said 2 words to me. I've always gone to European Wax Center to get Brazilians done. Every time it would really hurt and really sting/be sore for hours after, but I thought that was normal. After a particularly traumatic experience of bleeding to the point that it was hard to get it to stop and being left bruised for weeks, I decided to see if there were any other places to get a Brazilian done. I wish I'd found Waxing the City sooner!! Grace was so gentle, thorough, and kind. The ladies at the front desk were very nice. The best part though is that their wax only sticks to the hair (not the skin), so the amount of pain was wayyyy less than I've ever experienced before. There's no way I'm going back to EWC after knowing this place exists! Great price too. read more

Asia did a really good job for my first visit. She wasn't boring me with a whole bunch of small talk, just got to the point and took great care of me. She had told me it wouldn't be as clean as it needed to be, but she actually got more off than I expected. She should give herself more credit. Easy to book online (don't call just go to the website). It was last minute and I got the only waxer available.... I don't recommend that. She wasn't very friendly, and for someone new to waxing that wasn't what I was looking for. She was still good, and I was happy with the result. I called and they had an appointment ready, but I had to rush there to make in time. I made it right on time and filled out the papers in like a minute, but my technician didn't come out until almost 10 min after... The front desk girl told me she had someone right after when I made my appointment so I was confused at why she wasn't coming out right away. She said she had been waxing for awhile and came from European, but I'm not sure if it was just me or if anyone else who has been with her felt like it wasn't the most comfortable waxing experience. She kept doing little strips in the lip, over and over, back to back, which made my skin more irritated and hot since a layer of skin was already removed and then more hot wax was put on top. Later in the evening, I came home to see my skin was red and swollen, but thats normal and the wax they use is different, so I figured my skin was getting used to it. However, the next day I saw that it was more pink in some areas. My skin had been removed and I had to put Neosporin on it for a week before it healed. I heard good things about this place because my friend has been in Louisiana, but I guess not the location in Katy. read more

If you look at my reviews, you can see that I rarely leave a bad one. It takes a pretty crappy experience for me to do that. I scheduled an appointment to get my eyebrows waxed on my way home from work. This place had great reviews, so I figured I would get the same kind of experience. I walked in and things looked nice. The lady at the front was very warm and friendly. I waited about 10 minutes because there was someone getting a bikini wax. I could tell because I heard them laughing and joking. I guess that was her way of getting through the pain. My name was finally called and I got up to go to the back. The lady helping me kept yawning, so that already made me nervous because I had my eyebrows messed up from the previous business I went to. It took me 2 months to finally grow them back. The room I went in was the same room the girl who had gotten a bikini wax walked out of. So umm there were a few disgusting blobs of wax and hairs on the chair. So gross, but I tried to keep my mouth closed even though I was almost sat in someone's pubes. There was a man there who kept telling the lady to go to a different room and I'm guessing that's why. So we went to another room. The lady asked me to lie down so she could check my eyebrows out. She started drawing lines and whatnot so she could see how she needed to trim them. When she showed me how they were going to look in the mirror, I was happy as heck. She kept yawning, so I should have told her I would come back when she got some rest, but I stayed. Somehow it took her almost an hour to wax my eyebrows. It takes an hour to do the hair on my head and my hair is thick and curly. I have no idea why it took this lady so long to wax some hairs off of my face. It started to get late, so I told her I really needed to leave soon. I guess she saw the ridiculousness on my face and realized she messed up, so she told me we needed to go out in the front of the salon so she could get better lighting. I should have realized that was bs because it was already dark outside so it was even dimmer out in the front, but I was just ready to leave by then. I looked in the mirror and finally saw how jacked up my eyebrows were. She had waxed down my inner brows. I looked like a crackhead! I know she could tell I wasn't happy, so she started using eyebrow makeup to fill in stuff and I got frustrated. This lady took an hour to mess my brows up and then wanted to try and sell me some powder to fill in her mistakes. I told her I wasn't trying to do all of that. All I wanted was to get my brows looking good, so I could get up and go each day. Thank God I got a first time customer discount because they charge $20 a visit. I shouldn't have even paid $10, but I'm not the type of customer who likes confrontation. I paid her, but they called back to schedule a second appointment and I kindly declined and told them why. I will never go back to this place again. I wish my eyebrows ended up like the pics on here, but I unfortunately left looking like I snuck out of rehab. Most of the pics on here are posted by the owner. I normally don't go places where actual customers haven't posted pics. Lesson learned. No thanks. read more

I had given the Memorial City location a try and was not at all pleased with the outcome, but I'd had such good experiences with Waxing the City in San Antonio, that I decided to try out the Katy location. I'm super glad I did! Caitlyn was so thorough and did an amazing job. Not a stray hair in sight! And this was by far the most fun I've had during a wax appointment (I didn't even know it was possible to have a fun wax).
