Been here a few times to clean up my eyebrows and nostrils and I'm a fan of their services! Not only are their services well priced; however, it truly is seamless to get the waxing done. They use a special wax and make sure to take their time. You should allocate time to be here and possibly head elsewhere if you're on a time crunch. WTC takes pride in their work and they want to make sure you leave without the hair you came in with. I don't like my eyebrows to be shaped like crazy so it's nice they can have them looking natural without Chewbacca lying on a hammock between my eyebrows... My favorite part is their honesty and that includes when you're not due for another service. I recently came in asking if I needed to get my eyebrows done and instead they suggested I just do a "maintenance" service to hold me until my next full eyebrow wax. They use a calming oil afterwards to help with the redness which I greatly appreciate. Most importantly is the waxing doesn't hurt; rather it's like a quick flinch. If you have any allergies you should get your nostrils done! It truly makes a difference and you won't have to worry about them going all the way up your nose. It's just around the nostril flares. While I do take responsibility for a mistake I made regarding my membership fee, the way Avery handled the situation was unprofessional and downright rude. I love how wonderful the staff is here and how easy it is to make an appointment (call or online). Waxing the City just opened in the Stone Oak area and the salon is clean, modern, and welcoming. I've been here 3 times for a lip wax and Michelle is the best. She's very friendly and puts you at ease right away. She explained that they use a soft European wax that doesn't hurt as badly. She's right it really doesn't hurt! I'm prone to getting mild skin irritations and red bumps after waxing but it has never happened since coming here. First of all if I could rate the techs they're a 5 star all the way, amazing service overall. My beef is this- I had to cancel my service, I understand there's a cancellation policy. When I was on the phone canceling they said we still have to charge the cancellation fee but we'll apply it to your next visit. There was no mention of any restrictions and I was really thankful because the reason I had to cancel was very personal and it was just a rough time so anyway I was like wow that's amazing you guys are the best. I called them like they said when I was ready to schedule my new appointment which was within that next week. I showed up to my new appointment and they didn't honor that credit. They said there's was a 3 day time frame I had to reschedule for, this wasn't disclosed to me. I think the lack of communication is poor in management and it's an area where they can exercise growth for their business. You really don't know what a persons schedule looks like and for them to say "well it was in a text message" when I spoke with them twice before my new appointment and that stipulation wasn't expressed just feels kinda shady- For that reason, I rescinded my application to become a member and I will not be returning. I am a regular customer here since October 2021 and this is my experience, Sarah was my cereologist and she was exceptional and I loved the experience. In Feb I was told Sarah is no more with them and it was Ashley- again great service! In Feb they talked me into subscription that gives discounted rates for regular services. My problem started from that point. March - I had to do same day cancellation due to a medical emergency call for my kid. Even when I called and explained the situation they weren't ready to make adjustments- In fact asked me to comply with their cancellation policy. Then they also asked me to send the doctors letter to their corporate for excuse - seriously ???!!! To be clear the ask is - send my kids medical emergency letter from her doc to their corporate- even my work place understand these situations and do not poke into peoples privacy this much. Finally I didn't want to lose the money, so in the midst of all these, I went to get waxing done - relaxing ??? Or they bullied me into this ?? And service was done by a trainee who left out lot of areas. I cancelled 2 due subscriptions and kept just 2 to see if they make any fixes. No apologies from anyone for this. Answer: " yes ma'am, sorry this is corporate policy". April - my appointment was just yesterday. Service was done by another trainee who took an hour more to complete. Forget that part- wax was stuck all over my skin, while removing wax it was stuck on my skin and bad pain and bruises on my hand and legs. I told this to studio coordinator and her response "she finished much earlier than time allocated, do you wish to book with same person next month?" Are you kidding me ?!! I pulled all subscriptions out by July. My 2 stars are for Sarah and Ashley. Every business survive with customers and the way this studio treated me was way beyond my tolerance level. Wow! I passed my 1 year anniversary of coming here! Since my original review, I have seen 2 different ceralogists, Alyssa and Grace. And I would recommend both, 100%! They are both so kind, and have had great conversations with both. I keep coming back for a reason, right! The appointment making is so easy, I literally set up my next appointment at checkout, and I don't have to worry about frantically trying to get in to see Grace when I absolutely need it. Booked my appointments online, confirmed them via an email. Arrived to one quick page of information about my skin & met my Cerologist Denise. She was perfect for me, an experienced sassy lady. I had my lower legs waxed, and she chatted me through it. So painless! She then explained in good detail what to expect for my first Brazilian & walked me through it. I cracked a lot of jokes, then we mostly talked about my dogs. I feel so bad for the people I've read about having these horrible waxing experiences because, while it was my first Brazilian, it was honestly so nice! They do very small sections for low pain & are not rushed at all. Went ahead and also got my brows/lip done. Brow game is strong. My first time getting waxed, I wasn't sure what to expect but in my mind, I was expecting a lot of pain. It was actually a lot less awkward than I expected, also way less painful than I expected. The hair actually took a very long time to grow back and when it did, it was a lot softer or more sparse. I really recommend this service and this business. Overall my experience was a positive one. That being said, I do have sightly mixed feelings. The staff was incredibly friendly, online booking was a breeze, and they send day-of email specials. My esthetician took her time with my brows, and I appreciated it. However, looking at them afterwards I didn't feel like all that much had been done to them. BUT this may also be due to the fact that I have light hair, thin brows, and have been waxing for so many years I don't get many stray hairs. I honestly think she didn't have much to work with, and that's due to my brows not my esthetician. I used to have them waxed back in California at my nail place for $10-12, and my last was wonderful. She put a nice arc/point into them. But the trends have changed and I haven't been able to find anyone that will do the same type of shape as what was popular 10 years ago. My only complaint is that afterwards she said she placed lavender oil on them to calm the skin. Lavender oil is calming when inhaled, but essential oils should never be placed directly on the skin unless it is well diluted. It can cause many skin irritations that I'm now experiencing a few days later. Again, I don't blame the esthetician personally, because I'm sure they do they do this with all clients. But the company should consider using another "calming" product. I will update my review when I go in for a more extensive waxing service. read more

Really awful experience here. I went in for a Brazilian and Tia failed to tell me that the hair wasn't long enough and proceeded to wax, which ended up being more sensitive to my skin. I told her that it was too painful to finish. This wasn't my first wax but I think it would have still been considerate for the "professional" to be transparent about the situation. After, I was still charged full price and denied when asked if that could be re-considered. When I got home to shower, I found that there was still wax on my skin that was not removed and I had to rip off myself. It was incredibly uncomfortable and irritated my skin. I was also later told on the phone by management that it's something that should have been brought to their attention while I was there, which is exactly what I did. I disputed the charge with my bank but the company lied about my claim and stated I didn't attempt to resolve it while I was there. They were still ultimately paid and took no accountability. UPDATE: the response left to my review of Tia's claim is a lie. She didn't make me aware of anything before starting. I made an attempt to resolve it while I was there and the receptionist told me that Tia said I was too pay full price although service was not completed and the amount of wax that was still left on my skin. I also did not wait 9 days to file a chargeback. I requested it the next morning after getting home that evening and had to spend time pulling wax from my skin. It was incredibly uncomfortable. read more

After moving to San Antonio from California, I dreaded having to find a new esthetician for my brazilian waxing. It usually takes me forever to find someone that will do a good job and won't make the experience uncomfortable. So I went on to Yelp and did my search for a new place. I found Waxing the City and hoped that the good reviews have led me to an esthetician that I wouldn't want to leave. Making an appointment online is fairly easy and quick. They send you reminders about your appointment and remind you to please cancel at least 24 hours ahead of time. I do agree with the tips saying to find the Trader Joe's that's in the same shopping center because your GPS will lead you to the location a lot better than the addy provided for Waxing the City. The parking here is a bit small, so I would recommend making an appointment when the area isn't as busy, or arrive a lot earlier so you can find a parking spot. Upon entering, I was greeted by a wonderful lady at the front counter (I honestly forgot her name, but super nice lady!). I was asked to fill out their form and waited for my esthetician. I was greeted by Lexi and she led me to her room and let me know that she'd leave the room so that I can get ready (not all estheticians do this). Let me say that Lexi is SUPER AWESOME!! She's a bit quite, but even though we didn't talk much during my appointment, she made me feel comfortable. She always asked if the wax was too hot and if I was comfortable with everything. She was very gentle and made the experience as painless as possible. When everything was done, I was left to change and I saw that Lexi did an amazing job! When it was time to check out, I was asked when I would like to have my next appointment and I was able to go afterwards. They do make sure that your appointment is with the esthetician that you were just with, but if it doesn't work for you they can always book you for whenever you're comfortable. Overall, it was an amazing experience and a few days later I received a card from Lexi making sure that I was ok and hoping that I enjoyed my experience. After reading all the great reviews for Waxing the City, I decided to take the plunge and get a Brazilian. The Stone Oak location is clean and serene, and always busy! I placed myself in Lexie's capable hands, and was thrilled with the results! I am a huge chicken and hate pain, but I was surprised that the whole procedure was not as painful as I had imagined. My cerologist suggested an Advil 45 minutes prior to my appointment, and that helped a lot. I now have a standing appointment! read more

My first experience at WTC and I 100% recommend this place for your waxing needs. Adrienne was ABSOLUTELY amazingly thorough, made me feel completely at ease and talked me through everything she did on me. I made an appointment online for a traditional brazilian and after filling out a basic one-page paperwork about allergies (which took a minute to fill out) I was seen without any wait what-so-ever. They have disposable and super sanitary cloth-like covers for their tables which are AMAZING for those that sweat during the procedure (like me, no shame!), instead of the paper ones like at EWC (European Wax Centers) which make me feel like I'm at a doctor's office. Adrienne explained to me what the procedure would be like, what the wax would feel like, and to let her know if at any time I felt too much pain due to the temp of the wax. I was SUPER nervous since that's an extremely sensitive area, but the wax (which is a soft to hard wax that dries in about 2 seconds after it's applied to the hair), was surprisingly "gentle" compared to the wax that EWC uses. The whole procedure took about 30 minutes, although my appointment allotted for 45 minutes. When I got home I let the waxed area breathe and applied some of the ointment that helps to close and exfoliate pores that they sell in stores for $20. I highly recommend that you get the ointment as it helps protect against bumps from the wax. Here's the major kicker for me: I HAD ZERO FLARE UP BUMPS AFTER THE PROCEDURE (and I'm typically super sensitive after a wax with bumps and the whole works). In the past, when I had gone to European Wax Center off 281N in the Stone Oak area to get my wax done, 2 hours after my procedure I had bumps EVERYWHERE where I had been waxed. I think the wax they use isn't as good of a quality as WTC's. I also didn't feel like they took their time as much with me at EWC. Overall, no matter what you're getting done: eyebrows, brazilian, male/female, etc.. they do it all here and they do it well! Plus, 50% off your first visit isn't bad at all! I was pretty hesitant to try a new wax place, but with the 50% off deal and great reviews, I decided to give it a shot. I immediately noticed how clean the place was and how nice and professional the girls at the front were. It definitely helped calm my nerves. After filling out the typical forms, I met Jessica my cerologist. Part of the reason I am giving four stars instead of five is because I had booked my appointment online with a different cerologist after reading some reviews. Jessica was awesome and she did an amazing job, but it definitely threw me off. I would have honestly just appreciated a heads up, but no biggie. As I said before, Jessica was super great! She made me feel comfortable the entire time and made sure to ask if I needed any breaks or ask if I was uncomfortable with the wax temperature. She talked with me throughout my waxing, which really helps take my mind off the actual waxing. Another thing I loved was the cloth cover on the table rather than the paper ones I am used to. The waxing itself was also a little different than what I am used to. They wax in shorter strips and pay close attention to how the hair grows to decrease pain. It had been months since I had been waxed and it was no where near as terrible as I thought it would be. The process wasn't as painful as it usually is at European wax center. This could be because she took her time and wasn't working on finishing within 15 min but actually catered to my needs. I had my brows and lip waxed by Jessica. She did a great job, particularly when shaping up my left eyebrow, which has a dominant scar from a childhood accident. They're also very careful about prepping your skin before the process, which I appreciate because I usually have trouble with ingrown hairs or blemishes a couple of days after waxing, but it's been a week now and I've had no issues of the sort. Everyone who I've spoken with there has been super sweet and pleasant, no snobs like you find at some skincare establishments. I can't believe I have not written a review earlier. Dina is by far my absolute favorite. She not only does an amazing job, but she is very personable. After a year of being waxed by her, I recommended her to my daughter who is also on the Dina wagon now. She was nervous but said Dina is so nice that it does not even feel like a waxing appointment. I have been waxed by others and always get bumps and rashes, but not once with Dina. She makes sure to prep the skin but also takes care of the skin after. She has recommended sugar scrubs and exfoliates, that have worked wonders when it comes to ingrown hairs. She will only recommend what she deems necessary and I trust her wholeheartedly with my skin & any appointments that I have with her I actually look forward to. She goes above and beyond for her clients and I truly can't recommend her enough. This is the ONLY place that I go to, I have tried other places in San Antonio and this is the BEST.
