I've been a customer at WAXON for the past 4 or 5 years and thought that I should finally post a review. Despite having to travel over an hour to get to this location (right by Summerhill station), I wouldn't think about going anywhere else. First off, as other reviewers have mentioned, there are two entrances, so if you're worried about walking through the front door of a wax bar, WAXON's got you covered. The back entrance is easy to navigate, so you don't have to worry about getting lost when finding your way to the lobby either. The design of facility is very sleek and modern with their glass walls that face the street and signature yellow and grey coloured furniture. It is very clean and well kept, and their line of products can be found right in the lobby. The staff are very friendly. Upon arrival, the receptionist(s) always greet me with a smile and offer a water bottle while waiting for my service. I've been going to the same esthetician, Kate, since the first time I went to WAXON. Other reviewers have mentioned that the esthetician does not leave the room as you undress, which is true, however Kate does turn around and even offers a cleansing wipe prior to the service to eliminate any added discomfort. In addition, she talks to you throughout the service, which does ease you through the process. Despite her knowing exactly what I want, she has me do a once over to ensure that I am satisfied before I leave, which is something that I personally appreciate. They have a couple of waxes: gold (previously blue), purple, and white (I think) - all of which are stripless. The gold and purple have been used on me, and I don't really know what else to say other than they definitely do their job. They may have different uses or purposes, but I've never asked what the difference is between them. The waxing sticks used to apply the wax are used individually and are disposed of immediately after use. After the service, they apply Prince Reigns serum, which prevents ingrown hairs. They sell this product as well as a variety of scrubs, lotions, oils, and soaps. When I first started coming here, they do sometimes push the products, however, I personally buy the serum and sugar scrub as often as I need to (as they both last for a few months), so I don't really have that issue. In terms of booking, you can schedule an appointment online via the WAXON website. If you create an account and book online, you get 100 pts (or 200, I can't remember) to your WAXON account that you can use towards a future service. (You can get these by referring a friend [500 pts], or buying two products at once [200? pts].) I banked enough to get $23 off my service, which was great at the time for a university student like me. Also, if you show your student card (or check-in on yelp, I believe), you get a discount! All in all, I have no complaints about WAXON. The staff are wonderful, the facility is clean, and the service is outstanding. What more can you ask for? read more

Went in for consult and staff was unhinged. Rude, condescending and almost confrontational when I asked about different options.

My usual go-to place for waxing is always busy so I have to make appointments weeks in advance. I also just wanted to see what else was out there so I did a Yelp search for other places that a) waxed and b) that was close to my house - I found WAXON Waxbar. Steps away from Summerhill Station, I found WAXON Waxbar pretty easily. I love the interior here; it's all white and yellow. It's minimalistic, but looks neat and sleak. Being able to book on-line is always a plus for me as well; I think I booked my appointment at 2 in the morning. Another plus about this place is that it is so clean - all sticks for waxing are used once and once only! I was impressed with the service here - the woman who waxed me was very friendly and chatted throughout the entire appointment, which allowed me to think of something else besides the pain. this was the worst experience I have ever gotten. DO NOT GET ANY FACIAL BEAUTY SERVICES HERE. I got my eyebrows done and they had no clue what they were doing. the girl waxed my eyebrows then continued to pluck and trim my eyebrows for 30 minutes after. my eyebrows were completely uneven after, sore and she didn't put any lotion on them after the hot wax . it was $35 plus tax which is so unreasonable and my eyebrows looked horrible. don't offer a service you are not properly trained in!!!!!!!!!!!! read more

Came in for a brow tint and left looking like Groucho Marx. The person opted for an inky black colour to 'match' my blonde hair and already light Eyebrows so now it looks like I use black permanent marker as my eyebrow pencil. This position requires someone who doesn't have the grace of a bull in a china shop. All of the make up was smeared off my face because it was used as a hand rest and knocked while the service was performed. I don't know how this place keeps opening new locations... Pro tip: do not let them give you a touch up with powder after your services because the brushes are NOT cleaned between clients. read more

After many months of seeing Angie, I think it's safe to say that this is probably the best place to have a brazillian wax in Toronto. I've been to other waxing "bars" and day spas and I keep on coming back here because I am consistently impressed and satisfied with their customer service and actual wax job. Angie makes you feel comfortable and she's so fast and efficient that it's practically pain-free. I like the way she waxes so that hair doesn't break resulting in any ingrown hairs afterwards. Being honest, there is a bit of an up-sell on their products and I wish they were cheaper...but I am more than happy spending my $40 on a good quality wax instead. I'd like to say I'm a pretty open person but now we're getting personal. So I'm going to "wax" some poetic here on what it's like to get a Brazilian. Whoo Boy, it's about to get HOT in here! FYI Gents - you can get your "Man-zillian" here and no-one in Rosedale need not know! You can enter from the back entrance (no pun intended). It's discreet and your lady won't even know how smooth you got. Unless you show up at the same appointment. Now, that would be awkward! VIBE Waxon's decor is a great mix between the masculine and the feminine. Dark grey walls are offset by lemon accents. If I'm going to get my nether-regions plucked, it doesn't have to be in a pink, pink and more pink setting. The ladies at the desk make you feel comfortable right away and are super happy to help you. I love the personal touches as well: they have wipes in the bathroom so you can be clean for your appointment. That said, more hooks in the room to hang your clothes would be nice. Angie, my waxer was also a pro. She was very friendly, interpersonal but never stepped over the line. She didn't make you feel uncomfortable about dropping trou in front of her. The experience was more "let's get the job done and have fun." Everything is SUPER CLEAN and bonus, you get a mint at the end of it all! THE SERVICE Prepping for a visit to a few bathhouses in Budapest thus prepared me for my first Brazilian. I tried to procrastinate it as long as I could! But there can't be any "spiders." Was I nervous? Yep. Did it hurt? Yep. Did it hurt as much as I expect? Yep. But what eased everything was Angie's delicate touch. She let me take breaks when I needed to and told me to pull on the leg (I never knew) for when the wax was coming. It was hot wax but not as hot as I thought. She tried to get through it as quickly and effortlessly as possible and eased me in conversation the whole way through. The service was definitely worth it. I was hair free for over two weeks! Whoo Hoo. And I pranced through those bathhouses with aplomb. Did I get a bit of an upsell on $6 soap? Yes. But it's actually really nice soap with a loofah inside of it! I highly recommend. I also highly recommend the Prince Reigns gel to prevent ingrown hairs for future. That really helped with the redness and soreness thereafter. Waxon sells it exclusively in Toronto. I want to provide some feedback on my experience at Waxon Summerhill. I went in August for the first time and had the Braziliant from Angie N. The experience was awful. First of all, Angie didn't leave the room while I was changing. She continually talked about buying the pack of services (I think it was purchasing the 10 pack, can't remember specifically). I finally told her I didn't have the money to dish out at the moment. She continued pushing it, telling me it was a great deal and I should really reconsider. After the service, she took me to the product section and told me that I needed the scrub and serum. She was incredibly pushy and insisted that I needed both products. I ended up purchasing them. While it was a disappointing experience, I decided that maybe it was just because I was a new client and she was very confident in Waxon's products. I came back for my second appointment thinking I'd give it another try. I didn't realize that I was booked with Angie again. During the second appointment she insisted AGAIN that I needed to buy the pack of 10 services. I again told her I wasn't interested. She then started pushing the product and I reminded her I'd purchased the scrub and serum last time. She told me that it didn't hurt to stock up and I should consider buying more. It is very apparent that their technicians are compensated on commissions from product sales. I have gone back to my original service provider, The Ten Spot, as their technicians are respectful, pleasant and have NEVER pushed a product on me. Furthermore, they respected my privacy and let me change in private. Even after asking the technicians at The Ten Spot for advice on after wax care, they never bring up their products, they simply advise to exfoliate and moisturize. I'm incredibly disappointed with my experience at Waxon and needless to say I will not be going back. I'm not sure if this is how all of their technicians treat clients, but Angie had ruined my opinion of the company. Love going here for the Brazilant. I see Angie, and she does an excellent job. She's chatting and talks nonchalantly throughout the ordeal - and does make things more comfortable. I read a negative review about disrobing infront of her...ummm you're gonna be half-nakey already so I don't see the big deal, plus you will find this with several other places. I will say that yes, she is a little pushy when it comes to promotions and sales, but it is what it is. If you're not interested, say no thank you. At the end of the day, it's about getting the job done and getting it done well. The wax is practically painless in comparable with other places I've experienced. I've been seeing Angie for 6 months now and look forward to my waxes (yeah, weird I know!) because she is so fun to chat with and does such a professional, thorough and [relatively] painless job. The space is nice and modern, super clean and all staff are friendly. They also use hard wax - which I find way better for my sensitive skin. While there is definitely some typical up selling of product, it's not worse than anywhere else I've been (aside: I have actually really enjoyed the body scrub suggested to me and their prince reigns serum has been repurchased several times). This is what sets Waxon apart from the other places I have been to for bikini waxes: - Impeccable customer service. When I arrived, they gave me a branded water bottle. The girl who waxed me noted my preferences in my account so I will not have to make any requests in the future. - Superior products. The wax is a blue cold wax which barely hurts. It does not irritate the skin at all, and the girls have a great technique for minimal pain. Also, there is a green ingrown hair solution which I bought ($30 or$35) and am very pleased with. -Great packages. There are several package options at Waxon for various services. Hooray! I just moved into the neighbourhood and was dreading having to trek all over the city to my favourite waxing spots (one in the east end and one down on queen west). WAXON is clean clean clean and the prices are great! Cheaper for brows and bikini waxes than either of the other places I'd been going to. My waxologist was Angie, who's been working as a waxer for 16 years. She did a great job on my brows, they look perfect and it was much less painful than I anticipated. I pre-booked my next wax and I am thinking seriously about trying a leg wax. They have a great full menu of services (waxing only) for men and women, and my understanding is they have a sneaky back entrance for men who are interested in a discreet wax. Talk about last minute! I desperately needed a MAJOR brow cleanup and was so busy at work, I didn't get to plan ahead. Website booking was super convenient so stars for that - I got to see timeslots available, and who the person would be. But I needed to get something done in 5 minutes, and I saw there was a slot open but because it was in the next 4 minutes (by the time I got to that page), it said to call. I took a chance as I work so close and ran. One minute to spare, I walked in saying if by any chance there was an opening for a brow cleanup, and YES!, there was. Anna was great - she asked me wax or thread. I said thread, but she said because my hairs were so long (BOO!), waxing would be better. I liked her shape, to which she said she actually colored it in. After the wax, she taught me how to fill in my brows. She filled in one brow, and than she made me do the other as a learning session. Really appreciated the tutorial. Would TOTALLY be back, and would recommend Anna for brows. She is very friendly and bubbly too. Very quick and convenient which is perfect for busy professionals. read more

Waxon Waxbar is the midtown waxing salon I have been searching all over for! Move over Queen West, there's a new girl in town (why does Queen West have all the good waxing places anyways? Are people hairier there?). I've tried just about everything when it comes to getting my brazilians - I've done hard wax, soft wax, sugaring; I've had great brazilians that are almost painless and last forever, and had wax literally cut off of me because the esthetician didn't know what she was doing. Waxon is my favourite place to go for a no-hassle, long-lasting brazilian. I particularly like that they start with the hard wax and finish with strips as I have always had the best experience with this method. I've been to see Rena several times and she does a fantastic job, we always have great conversations (re: lots of laughing) and she even (TMI alert) picks out any ingrowns that may have resulted from me getting lazy with exfoliating. The other thing to love about Waxon - their great prices! Regular brazilians can get pricey, but they only charge $43 which is the lowest I've seen in Toronto. I bought a bar tab, so I bought 6 and get the 7th for free. They will try to sell you their ingrown hair serum Prince Reigns, but unlike some other reviewers, I didn't feel like it was a hard sell. Went here for my first Brazilian and booked it with Angie thanks to her amazing reviews from fellow Yelpers. Everyone was very friendly and Angie talked to me through the whole appointment which was nice to get my mind off the pain. Halfway through the wax her phone rings and she excuses herself and picks it up stating that it might be her kids calling. I had no problem with that and i waited for a couple minutes till she finished talking to her friend on the phone... Its really not that big of a deal but instead of continuing the conversation with her friend she could of told them right away that she's with a client. Ive been to other waxing places after WaxOn because I've found its too expensive (50+) and their pushy attitude towards bying their products is a bit of a turn off. I might visit back if i have to money to blow it on a good wax. All in all, the waxing was very good and not as a painful as the ones i had after. i recommend the place for ladies or men that want a good quality wax but with a hefty price tag. read more

I wanted to try something new which is better projected and advertised, both in quality and service; the reason was to be able to judge the actual difference between the fancy showrooms and the regular chinese waxing places. Firstly, the waxon wax bar, is a major rip off (I am referring to the money, not the hair ..LoL); the service is pretty much the usual way like anywhere else; but the downside is the crapy job they do, like leaving out spots n' also leftover wax on the body, pretty pethetic!, compared to the Manipedi Spa, which is right accross the street, which is cheaper and do a way better job. So, if you go there ... don't get your expectations high, seeing the extremely hot receptionist; the inside truth is that, its fancy for no reason, and its a "NO-GO!" for you, if you care about your money's worth; Instead i recommend to try the spa accross the street if you happen to already be in the area. I visited this location for the first time and it was the best waxing experience i have had thus far. I went first to the location at the PATH downtown and the technician was not too kind, rushed through and didn't offer any helpful tips for my first brazilian. I was concerned about coming back to another Waxon after that experience but i decided to try it out becuase this is in a more convenient location. OLGA is great! She was calming, we chatted the entire time and gave me helpful cues to INHALE quickly and EXHALE to take my mind off the pain.It was done before you know it. She also had a great technique to minimize the amount of wax needed and thus reducing the amount of pain. She also gave great advice on exfoliating and taking care of in-growns. Waxon was a disappointment. The girl doing my service was very rushy, and rude. When I was asking her questions about the wax she seemed annoyed at my curiosity and made me feel uncomfortable. At the end, she left me with a serum to apply to my freshly waxed parts and didn't even tell me what is it, I had to ask the girl cashing me out at the front. The "braziliant" wax that I had done hurt just as much as it usually does and she missed quite a few hairs. The entire experience felt incredibly rushed, and I wont be going back. read more

Dropped by while I was in the area for a quick underarm wax. The place is still pretty busy during the middle of the week, but I guess thats the charm of it still being new. My session was okay. This "bar" uses mostly hard wax which is great for some regions and some people, but not so good for others. After going at my underarms with 3 rounds of hard wax, my waxer finally switched to soft wax (the one with the strips). Even then, there were still hairs left. Her tweezing was unpleasant and amateurish. Some people have mentioned how they try to upsell you while you're at their hot wax mercy. This is true. A $16 wax led to a $60 total incl tax, tip, and an ingrown hair serum. I can't even tell if its working. Overall my experience was acceptable. The prices are a little higher here than my regular spot, but more importantly, while it didn't hurt as much as other locations, my hair DID grow back in less than 2 days. After reading up on Brazilian waxes and daring myself to try new things in 2015, I held my breath as I made an appointment for one at WAXON. Online booking is a breeze! My helpful Yelpers raved about Angie's impeccable work and friendly demeanour - so I booked my first appointment with her. Angie did not disappoint. Pleasant, great sense of humour, knowledgeable. She chatted throughout the session which made things more bearable. As for pain - I can tolerate a lot of pain (try ZOOM Whitening, then get back to me - Brazilians are NOTHING in comparison to ZOOM Zingers!). For my first Brazilian - sans painkillers, at that - Angie said I handled it like a pro. The hard wax is warm and soothing. WAXON technicians never double dip. The place is spotless and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. TIP: exfoliate before your appointment. That always helps. For those complaining about disrobing in front of your technician - what's the big deal? If you're exposing your Hello Kitty, why act shy when taking your clothes off? We're all adults here. I'm fairly conservative and this didn't bother me in the slightest. Thanks to Angie and the amazing WAXON team. They're now the ONLY spot I'll visit for waxing services. read more

I wish I could post a photo. The first time I went for an eyebrow wax, one eyebrow was significantly thicker than the other. I was upset so they gave me a complimentary redo. Their second wax burned my eye skin off. I have a scar for the rest of my life under my eyebrow. I emailed them a photo of my bloody eyebrow and they ignored me. I was polite and asked for a refund. My usual waxing place (Civello Rosedale) books up way in advance, and I decided on a whim to try WAXON Waxbar to get my eyebrows and upper lip cleaned up as I was walking down Yonge. Never again. My aesthetician (I missed her name) asked about my previous experiences with waxing, and I warned her that my brow bone skin is extremely sensitive, and that it's been ripped/burned a few times before. She said that she was going to be careful, and talked about a coconut and vanilla wax that would soothe the skin while waxing. I walked out with the worst rips/burns on my brow bones that I've EVER had. Both eyes have huge raw red patches right above them. I didn't realise how bad it was until after I had left, since the usual tingly/burny sensation of waxing covered it up. I've now spent 12 hours applying cold compresses and polysporin to try and minimize the damage. I can't recommend this place at all. read more

This place is the worst! The strip-less wax they use cracks off the hairs and it has grown back in a week! The hair growing back is also super painful and it feels like there are hundreds of slivers beneath your skin. Here are my pro's and cons to this wax bar Pro's 1. Amazing service 2. great prices 3. cool ambiance 4. able to book online Con's 1. way way way to salesmany. In the wax my waxer is recommending products and you just say yes..cool and then next thing you know she is grabbing them for you and putting them at cash. 2. I just always feel that awful pressure to leave with something and it's terribly uncomfortable when I just want to pay my bill and not have an add on. If I could give them no stars I would. I was scheduled for a wax two days ago and was stuck in traffic at the time of my wax. 6 minutes later (their late policy gives you 6 minutes) I was still stuck in traffic so finally they called me to say that my waxer had taken in the next appointment. Instead of telling me to reschedule since I was past the 6 minute mark the front desk employee told me that she'd fit me in after. So I made my way over to there after driving through tons of traffic and when I got there she told me my waxer would see me in 20-25 minutes so I went to wait in my car. After about 15 I decided it was a good time to wait inside and when I did after about 5 minutes she told me that my waxer actually didn't have time to see me and would I like to reschedule. After being told I could be seen (even though I was late), I drove for 20 minutes through tons of traffic and then waited another 25 I did not appreciate this kind of customer service. Don't get me wrong the waxes here are great but after this poor show of customer service once I find a replacement place to wax at I doubt I'll ever come back here. This is on behalf of my partner. She went for a Braziliant and said was the quickest she's ever had. She requested hard wax on their site prior, since she was used to it and afraid anything else would hurt, but Nicole did a real fast and thorough job, not leaving anything on there and without any pain. My partner is a real picky customer, knowing from other times, she's European where they do this kind of thing a lot more inexpensively and the women do it more often. I loved the service here. My Brazilian was quick and relatively painless. They use hard wax and do bigger sections at a time - and trust me, it's 100% better than doing small sections. I am a pretty avid waxer and go every 5 weeks and have tried countless places. Not only is Waxon affordable, but it's in a decent location and it does not take 45mins for a Brazilian. I was in an out in less than 10. This is definitely my new go-to spot in Toronto! Reading the reviews below, the service was reasonable. Nothing too friendly, but not rushy or rude. I only had a brazilian once before and that experience was not even close to this one. The staff was very accommodating to my schedule as I had to reschedule 3 times due to my hectic schedule and each time, they were able to help me change it without giving me any grief. I have a very low tolerance for pain and so I was super nervous about going because I remembered how painful it was. However, my waxer, Ilana, was very nice and she said that she will make my experience a much better one. Boy did she ever! Yes it was painful but that's most likely because it was pretty much my first time and I was very nervous and my skin is not used to it. She helped trim me up so that it wouldn't be as painful. She also explained to me the different types of wax she was using (hard vs. soft and how each one will help). She was also very good at explaining how to take care of my skin after because it will be very sensitive. I know some have said that they like to push products onto you but I did not have that experience with Ilana. She was talkative, but not super chatty as she was focused on her work. She helped me with all of my questions and she did not push any products onto me. I did ask her what products are best for after care and she gave great suggestions. The front desk staff is also very friendly. I asked them for a suggestion on when I should go back (3 vs. 4 weeks) and I was fully expecting them to suggest 3 weeks or sooner, as a way to make more money, but she totally recommended something that is most beneficial to me! I will definitely be coming here again and again, and hopefully my tolerance for pain will increase over time. In fact, I have already booked myself in for next month! I thought I would try this location out, man was I sorry I did. First the wax is hot enough to give first degree burns. As I sucked the air through my teeth each time she applied the wax the lady assured me it was made specially to not burn the skin. Despite the fact that it is the temperature that burns not the formula for wax lol. THE WAX IS SPECIALLY DESIGNED TO STIMULATE HAIR GROWTH! I normally go every six weeks and within three weeks I had hair growing where it never was before and no more bald spots that years of waxing had created. Never again will I go here and I am telling everyone who doesn't want a regular bushy hair do to avoid it as well. read more

I usually go to another place down town which i loooove but i got stuck around Summerhill for a long afternoon recently and since I always like to try new things I thought I would give this other Wax Bar a go. Now I don't know if it's because I really like my usual spot or if there was something really wrong with the atmosphere at this place, but I just didn't like my experience at all. For one I don't like the whole yellow/over done vibe of the front. The girl who did my wax was nice enough but didn't say a word about the treatment, I mean nothing informative. She really did talk a lot about their products though (all around $40 btw...) in a bit of a pushy way. I guess they get commission on sales which i understand but still is not a nice way to approach customer service. When i got home i realized she used soft wax on me although my skin is super sensitive and I had told her prior. So my skin was a bit ripped. Nothing dramatic but still urgh... This place is great! Its close to my place and SUPER clean and friendly and pretty inexpensive. I followed Angie from another place that she worked at and from now on will not let anyone else do my waxing! Somehow she makes brazilians not so painful.. Really though, I've cancelled when her old place said she would be doing my waxing and tried to put me with someone else... Definitely the new go to. Booking online just makes life so much easier, and the "bartabs" or whatnot are great. pay for a couple the first time, and all your next ones book online, and walk in and out! Doooone! read more

Great place! You can book online easily and they send you a confirmation email 48 hrs in advance. They are faster than most (modest Brazilian is 20mins) and I love that they specialize in waxing. Kate is the best! Also very affordable and easily accessible. read more

I had my wax done here three times now having absolutely everything done.. and I mean everything including downstairs. As a guy I was a bit worried and waxon was the first place I ever really went to get waxed but I have to say it was comfortable and fast and not a hair in sight. I was taken care of by Angi who is named the eyebrow queen and kate who is also great and made me feel at ease. I thought my services were very professional and they even have a back door for the guys to sneak in and out of, which I found to be a great idea. The reception were very helpful with my appointments and my bookings, working around me when I needed to come in.
