I don't get waxed often, but for the past 15 years when I do get waxed I've come to the Belltown Waxon -- not sure why I've been loyal, since I've had some good experiences here and some very bad ones (including an incredibly patchy leg wax the day before my wedding with an aesthetician who acted personally insulted when I pointed out the spots she'd missed, and once having my time-sensitive appointment accidentally cancelled by the shop after I'd confirmed the appointment by phone the day before) but today's appointment was my final straw. Melissa G was my aesthetician and the appointment started off great, although she didn't ask me how I like my brows done before starting, which is unusual. However, after 45 minutes or so I noticed she wasn't changing her gloves and they were getting really sticky with wax residue, so every time she'd touch me I'd get stickier too - the paper cover on the table underneath me was starting to come off stuck to me in shreds. After she adjusted the position of the wax table, including unplugging and replugging the wax warmer cord with her gloves still on, I politely asked her if she could change her gloves before continuing, and she said sure, she would if she *had* some (?!?!). Guess what, friends - there was only one more glove in the whole store in her size, and all the others were much much too small to fit her. I'm not sure how gloves don't get routinely restocked in a waxing salon, and I'm not sure how Melissa thought it would be ok to perform a nearly full-body wax appointment with one and a half pairs of gloves, when typically in my experience gloves get changed pretty often during a wax -- if she had welcomed me to my appointment and said, I'm so sorry, I realized I'm out of gloves, do you mind waiting 10 minutes while I run to the Bartell's LESS THAN TWO BLOCKS AWAY and grab a box, I would have been happy to wait AND would have been grateful for the emphasis on hygiene practices. I don't even want to think about the germs that got cross-contaminated onto my raw exfoliated skin from that one pair of gloves touching everything in the room. They are tricksters. I went to book an eyebrow waxing and says when I went to book it that it's $20. Fine. When I went to pay with a 20% tip it was $30 which I found weird but didn't think about it until I got home to double check the price. Hidden on their main website (doesn't say it anywhere on their front page or even when you check out) that there is a $5 covid fee. Wtf? They should just include it in the price instead of adding it sneakily into a random page on their website that no one looks at. At least have it on the top of the front page. Also they want me to tip on top of that fee? It's like place who want you to pay on top or the tax. Definitely a pass from me. Never coming here again. read more

Never, ever mak appointment or go to this place, look like employees doe care about customer's, I booked a reservation for 2 full legs wax, with a week in advance and when I show up for my appointment was only for 1 leg, since I have 2 legs i made my appointment for 2 legs but there was only for 1 leg, and the lady who was doing the waxing refused to do 2 legs, she wanted me to come back ano day to do the second leg, i was like "really, really "" this place is like a crap, so please never go here they are only clowns. read more

Sabrina has been taking care of my eyebrows for several months now, and... well, I'm very happy with that decision! I've been seeing her in Fremont, but recently realized that the Belltown location (where she also works) is much more convenient for me after work. Plus, there are a LOT of great happy hours near this location! She's great for a friendly conversation (or peace and quiet, if that's what you want) and does a great job keeping my eyebrows shaped and under control. I don't enjoy tweezing so I can easily forget about it for 1-2 months and then find myself scrambling for a walk-in appointment with someone somewhere, so it's MUCH better and easier for me to just have an appointment with Sabrina every 3 weeks or so. I guess they don't have a receptionist handy at all times (the employees are the "receptionists" and they're busy!), but someone always gives me a call the day before to remind me about an appointment, and that's good enough for me. Oh, yes. Price. That's kind of important, right? Their eyebrow waxes go for $15. I think this is the perfect price because $10 usually gets me a person who barely speaks English, and $20-27 seems like way too much to pay for a quick eyebrow wax. read more

"Wax On. Wax Off." Does anyone else instantly think Karate Kid upon seeing the name of this place? That may age me, but oh well... I liked that movie and I liked this waxing spa too! I found myself staying next door to this place (at the Ace) when I was in Seattle last week. As soon as I saw their storefront, I was reminded that I was long overdue for a brow wax, so when I had a few extra minutes on Tuesday morning, I was so happy that Christa could squeeze me in! The woman at the front desk was friendly, as was Christa. She was professional as well, offering her opinion when asked but really listening to what I was looking for. I ended up getting both brows and lip done. If I'd had more time, I totally would have trusted Christa to do a Brazilian as well! In addition, I did allow Christa to upsell me an expensive night time moisturizer for my (dry) face, but she wasn't pushy at all. After my experience, I checked out the WOS website, and noticed the "our staff" section, which was super cool. I also learned that they have a total of four locations Seattle, two in Portland and one in Boulder. I would love for them to open their next one in Scottsdale! read more

This is one of the worst lash lift experiences I have ever had. Nina did my lash lift. She was very rough with my eye/eyelashes--she applied excessive glue on my lashes. When removing the glue, she vigorously brushed my eyelashes and eyelids with a spoolie for a long time causing extreme irritation during and after the session. Our eye area is extremely sensitive and this was supposed to be a relaxing experience, but I was tensed up the entire time. When I addressed the discomfort with her, she disregarded my concern and explained that she had to do so to remove the glue...when she was the one who applied the glue. Towards the end when I opened my eyes, they burned. The corner of my eye was glued together. One of my eyes is now swollen, red and irritated, my vision has a blotchy spot. The lashes on one of my eyes are over-curled while the other is not even curled. This was an extremely unpleasant experience. read more

I've gone to Wax On a few times because of it's proximity to our apartment building, although the last time before today was June 2017, because of renovations and difficulty with their old appointment system. I was excited with making a same-day appointment on their new system that made it all easy and online! I did not have a great appointment today though and I tried to find any private way of reaching out to the company, but there is no email, twitter, or facebook page listed on their site. (The Facebook button just bounces you to a private page). I wanted to write them while this pain was fresh. When I left the salon this evening, I wasn't happy, but I wrote it off to some messy waxing (lots of product left on my skin, powder EVERYWHERE, and lots of red bumps but not terribly atypical) and clashing personalities (insulting other places I had gotten waxed, obnoxious music on). But when I undressed at home, I noticed more than just bumps, there were dark red stripes around my legs, bruises/scabs/abrasions from pulling and ripped skin over my knee. This was unsightly, but not painful (well, it was painful during the waxing but I thought it had just been awhile). But trying to dry my underarms after a shower with just water and mild unscented bar soap? SO PAINFUL. I tried applying a lotion, one meant for damaged skin, and I thought I was going to cry. Ice is the only thing I can use to reduce the pain. I have pictures of these injuries. I'm really glad I turned down her repeated upsell pressures for a brazilian as I can't imagine the results if I had been burned on even more sensitive skin. I'm sorry to post this on a public forum when I just want a refund, at least partial, there's nothing else to be done that will undo the damage other than time (Of course, getting this wax on short notice was because of an event later this week and now I have to consider whether the lace dress I have is wearable with this underarm pain.) read more

I've had a couple of appointments with qz, who was professional and detail-oriented. The business runs occasional promotions for discounted last-minute appointments if you get on their email list. COVID safety protocols felt safer and more consistent than some of the other salons I've visited. Modeling session number two, I again get to have Leslie, and it's full Brazilian time. This is the part where I'm supposed to (a) add cutesy names and euphemisms for female body parts, (b) pretend I'm not talking about female body parts with cutesy names and euphemisms, (c) make it sound as though this process isn't pleasant and is one of those things we woman do just because men or society or our mothers want us to and laugh off how ridiculously stupid that makes US, not them I'm not going to do *any* of those things in this review. . I happen to love the process and how I feel afterwards. And that's all i have to say about that. However, If you wish to read a review that contains those, but with actual dignity of a strong, awesome, hilarious woman, I recommend Victoria L. or Nancy B. for their various experiences. So, you all know what a Brazilian is, and if you don't, you live under the rock with the Geico cave dude. Go youtube it. Better yet, porn site look it up. Likely more entertaining. First off, Leslie is amazing. Once I am working and this is something I pay for, she is going to be my girl. Period. She's professional, funny and just plain skilled. Waxing does not have to be a tense experience. There is a reason for the warm wax, the temperature of the rooms, the positions, and the breathing beyond distracting you from the process and any pain and the ease of the estheticians job. Throughout the whole process, Leslie only managed to get me to *gasp* once in a particularly odd position and sensitive spot. When all was said and done, I was shocked at how much time had gone by. It felt like mere minutes. I was pampered, I felt totally at ease, relaxed and felt great. Soft, smooth and as naked as the day i was born. maybe next time,...strips and shapes. I'm so sorry because I wanted to like this place. It's by my work and where I live. the woman was horrible and I felt like she had no idea what she was doing. She used globs of wax and attempted to rip off the hair in massive patches. Didn't even get all the hairs in a maintenance Brazilian and it took over an hour and I left very unsatisfied especially for $66. Unfortunately I don't think it was the salon but more her. read more

Ok so this is probably way more than anyone wants to know about me but yes I do get Brazilian waxes on a regular basis. This is a must...it's up there with getting your haircut and your nails done. Nothing wrong with a lil' routine maintenance. Hell....men should do it too. Prices are pretty comparable to other salons. The first wax is $70 and maintenance is $55. Maintenance meaning 4-5 weeks post. I have gone 6 weeks because of a crazy schedule and they've been kind enough to charge me only the $55. I worked with Stephanie and she's fabulous. Polite, professional and quick. I've tried a few other staff members which were good, but Stephanie is by far the best. By best I equate that too the least amount of pain, quality of wax job and how quickly I'm out that door. Stephanie has such an infectious personality that by the time your conversation is over you didn't even realize she's completely done. Wouldn't go anywhere else, neither should you. Hint: Stephanie works every Sunday !! read more

I have been having my love hate relationship with brazillian for many a years now...and as you can imagine finding a place to feel comfortable while someone stares, pulls, rips, and lathers at my hoo hoo is pretty important. And for all these years I have had some great gals at wax on take care of my hairless-ness needs while being professional and careful. Also, they have a great program of coming in regularly for maintenence at a lower cost than full price. I have not been able to find a deal like that at any other waxing salon. It wasn't until my last wax that I had a horror story to even tell of this salon. I had booked with Sandy, and I am not sure if it was that she might have been having a bad day or maybe she was a little mad at me for being slightly over due for a maintenence which is what I booked for.... but after so many years of thinking I have this down; grimace...think happy thoughts....done. This was the most painful wax I have ever encountered. It was more of a brutal skin ripping...and yes I DID leave with wounds. Then as I hobble to check out, dazed and wondering why my hoo hoo is in massive pain this time...she makes sure to comment with a scowl "You were over due for a maintenence but I will give you that price anyways this time" Geez thanks....can you make the pain go away now? But thanks to her and the fear of ever going through that again, i have now moved on to laser hair removal.... So 2 stars deducted for one angry employee, 2 added for a cheaper maintenence program, minus 1 star for being able to hear the conversations and painful howls from the room next door with only a half wall divider...and plus one for free alcohol......ummmm you do the math. read more

Waxing. Everybody's doing it. With a tropical vacation (read: bikini!) coming up, I finally gave in to my curiosity. My sources told me I'd have a little paper thong to wear. Though it seemed like it might just get in the way, it was comforting to think I'd have some semblance of modesty. But that's not how it goes. In case you're also wondering, here's what to expect at Wax On Spa in Belltown. I saw Melissa... 1) Your esthetician will lead you to a basic room with what looks like a massage table in the middle. 2) She steps out while you strip from the waist down and lay on the table with the towel over your "lap." 3) She returns a moment later, knocking first. I think to be sure you're decent. 3) That towel? There to protect your shirt! Before you know it you're naked and she's wiping some something (baby powder) over your parts. 4) Next comes warm wax, and then cloth paper over that. 5) You breathe in, breathe out, and OUCH! I won't say it doesn't hurt, because it does. But Melissa was fast, thorough, and did what she could to minimize the pain (which is important, because apparently it could be worse). I couldn't help but remark about the oddness of our respective positions, which she laughed off like the professional she is. During another lull I had to ask: "People really do this?!" "Of course," she says. "I just did two male Brazilians today." "Male Brazilian?!" No point masking my naivete at that point - she'd already seen the rest. read more

I must have had the same waxer as Katie C. because I also avoid this place like the plague. I went here for my first (and after my experience here, only) Brazillian wax. I explained to the woman (whose name I never did get) that I had never had a bikini or Brazillian wax done before. I also said that I'd like to start with the bikini, see how that went, and then progress to the full-on Brazillian if I wasn't in too much pain. Well, first off, the technician never spoke to me, except for "yes" and "no". She seemed rather indifferent that this was my first bikini/Brazillian wax experience. I felt very odd - here I was getting a very uncomfortable procedure done with someone who did absolutely no communicating with me. To top it all off, she never did stop at the bikini, she just went ahead and did the full-on Brazillia without checking with me to see if I was doing okay. When the torture was finally over, I had to ask what to do in order to try & prevent bumps, to calm down the redness, etc. You would think knowing that I'd never had this done she would have volunteered this information. Or had been nice, or reassuring. The whole experience left me cold. And in pain. I will never go back. And now I have no desire to ever go to Brazil. read more

I visited the Belltown location of Wax On for about a year. Until "the incident" happened and I was forced to seek waxing services elsewhere. "The Incident" was a lost appointment on December 30th. How the heck am I supposed to find someone to give me a Brazilian and a full leg wax on December 30th???? How the heck did my appointment get lost? I have to agree with almost all of the comments that have been posted (good and bad). Yes, the services are completed quickly. Yes, the lack of receptionist is irritating (at best). Yes, the free booze up front can be helpful to calm nerves. Yes, the salon is overpriced. Yes, the speed in which the waxing is done can leave skin red and inflamed and looking somewhat like chicken skin. Yes, there is a huge variation between technicians (as it relates to thoroughness of the waxing job). Yes, waxing in general hurts a little, but more than 24 hours is unacceptable. And most importantly: YES, there are better (cleaner, more professional, better priced) places to get waxed in Seattle!! read more

I will never EVER enjoy getting my vag waxed, but I do so love the end result and so I Wax On! I normally see Shelly and she is awesome. Keeps you talking and distracted without really letting you know she is keeping you talking and distracted. I've been using Wax On exclusively for over a year now and love it. I've seen three of the ladies that work there but definitely prefer Sabrina. She's very friendly, and does a great job! My first Brazilian was at an overpriced salon. It took well over 30 minutes, which seemed too long. Wax On gets me in and out for a Brazilian and eyebrow wax in 30 minutes. It is painful and I hate pain. But Sabrina does a good job of distracting me and minimizing the pain. The location is perfect- right on my way home from work. I just wished parking was easier. But that's an issue for everything in Belltown. read more

RUXANDRA IS THE BEST! My technicians name is Ruxandra. I have been waxing my lip, brows and bikini area from 10 years. I found Ruxandra last year. She is by far the best technician I have ever had. Let me tell you a little bit about what make her so great. First, she is kind and empathetic (I have a low tolerance for pain). Since I have been going to her the pain of waxing has decreased. Second, she knows exactly how to wax. Since I have been going to Ruxandra I have had barely any ingrowns. Third, she is a perfectionist and very thorough. She does not just put the wax on right away. She is careful and looks to see what direction the hair is growing. Lastly, she is quick. Before coming to wax on the salons would take up to 45mins just to get the job done. I am done in 20mins. I highly recommend Ruxandra. You will not regret it. read more

Pros: Belltown location is close to work so I can get my waxing done on my lunch break Quick services Shelby (I think that's her name) was the nicest and sweetest lady ever - especially nice since it was my first time. Very thorough and painless. Usually a quick call back after leaving a request on their webpage (but also see CONS) Cons: I'm letting someone awfully close to my you-know-where... so I'd like a little bit of privacy. It makes me feel a little awkward to hear (over the not all the way to the ceiling wall) every bit of the conversation in the room next to mine. Sometimes my new girl (not Shelby) misses a few hairs. Sometimes my new girl (not Shelby) does things so quick that they hurt (but not for more than a few minutes). A little pricey... but I can deal since the location is nice. I would much rather be able to schedule on the spot rather than having to leave a message and wait for a call back (usually when I'm at work and can't answer my cell phone). Generally - except for the price - not a bad place to get my Brazilian done. read more

As if that's not enough, they offer shots of the hard stuff before or after the job is done. I'm going from 3 stars to 1 star. I went back a second time (This time to the Belltown location) and had the same experience. Super friendly lovely gal but a very sloppy and harsh job . The same day, once my skin was not so irritated I found about 10-15 tiny hairs per inch. WTF! I'm not paying $50 just for good company so screw this. I'm NEVER going back there. This is a waxing business and they can't do the job. Also, both times I heard the employees taking about how evil the owner is. One of the comments was that she was trying to pay them less commission for Groupon services. Original review 9/9/2010: I had a Groupon and when I called they scheduled me 3 weeks later. I walked out happy. The gal was super friendly, quick and made me feel very comfortable. However, when I got home I realized she had done a very sloppy job in various sections. She didn't use any tweezers. I needed to have gone back right away but it was the end of the day and I left town the next day. I called a couple of days later and they basically weren't helpful, no validation, they just told me to go back in 2 or 3 weeks. If you go, take your time checking out the job before you pay. The place is reasonably priced and it's a nice and conveniently located facility. This was at the Fremont location. read more

I had a 9:30 appointment mid-June. I booked last-minute so this was the only time available to get the $45 Brazilian special. Despite this I took full advantage of the free tequila in the waiting room. Woohoo ^^ Two shots in the morning = one happy client. A beautiful Japanese-American lady (whose business card I lost- wahh!) performed my service. Waxing is never fun, let's be real. I feel particularly sorry for my friends who only do it a few times a year and often sport full-on (think Miranda from the SATC1 movie) bushes before they go in. But in my case, 4 years of regular waxing must have killed my nerves... after my tequila breakfast, I can honestly say that I barely felt a thing ^^; She was great. Quick and friendly. It helps NOT to ever be embarrassed even if your legs are lifted at 120 degrees while somebody rips hair off your backdoor. I was worried I wouldn't find a decent place for this service in Washington but I was wrong. This place was on par with many of the spas I regularly go to in California. One downside: I did take a star off for price. While the $45 special was comparable to standard prices in California (who knows, maybe it's because Brazilians are a necessary must here).. the regular price was listed at $70. A little ridiculous for (what was for me, anyways) less than a 15-minute procedure. I tipped $10, which surprised my esthetician and prompted her to hand over a business card. Really? Ladies, please tip the ladies that wax your pubes off, especially if you plan to become a regular. It just makes more sense. =) read more

I really like going to Wax On. Stephanie is the absolute best waxer I've ever had. She makes it as close to painless as possible. Also, she's got a great personality and keeps your mind off the pain. I would give this place 5 stars except I feel like I was kinda jacked the last time I was there. I didn't get to work with Stephanie that time, and the girl I worked with (cannot remember her name) asked if I wanted an extended. Now, with Stephanie, I remembered there being regular, extended and brazillian. So, I said sure to the extended (which I'd had before). Before I realized what was happening I was getting the full on Brazillian which is about $25 more than what I remember the extended costing. I understand the art of the upsell, but I think she could have been more clear with her terms. Anyway, the wax came out well, and I paid, but I didn't appreciate what I thought was a slightly dishonest tactic. Since that was only one time in the millions of times I've been there, I figured this place really deserved good marks. I just will be sure to book with Stephanie next time. read more

I have been going to Waxon in kirkland for the longest time. And I love the kirkland branch a lot. It feels like a boutique waxing place. This one does not! It doesnt feel as clean and the girl who did my waxing definitely didn't seem professional and well-trained. I had to tell her many times to fix the brows properly and as a waxing-expert, I expect her know her things! The other waxing services were uncomfortable and when I done, it all felt waxy and unclean (not like the other Waxon in Kirkland). Will go there in desperation, but perhaps I need to go to their cap hill place. On another note, I am in love with their wax and shea butter! read more

I have been going to this place for years. Today I went in to have three different areas waxed. I was so lucky to get Yuni! She was amazing. She was friendly, she communicated clearly and she was very focused on the task at hand. She didn't try to make small talk, which I appreciated. Instead, she focused on what she was doing. She worked quickly and efficiently and got the job done. She also had excellent technique. Female Brazilians for $45 during the month of June? Okey dokey!! Seriously, I've gotten Brazilians at Gene Juarez before and paid $90, so the price alone at Wax On is worth the five stars. But they even went the extra mile. Sure, the tequila in the waiting area is a great touch. Sure, Gina did a great, thorough, quick job. But she went the extra mile, giving me shea butter and a hot towel to wipe off excess wax once it was all said and done. After shelling out close to a hundred bones at Gene Juarez and leaving there a sticky mess, the shea butter/hot towel treatment at such an amazing price pretty much ensures I'll be a Wax On regular for the long haul now. Gina also gave me some great tips to prevent ingrowns, which I tend to be prone to. I'm not going to say it was the least painful Brazilian I've had, but the entire experience was definitely the most thorough and pleasant. read more
