We paid $1,800 for 2 nights for 3 couples…read more We all were coming from different homes in different locations and had to drive 3 separate cars. We were told that there were enough spots for 2 vehicles and would have to be parked someplace else (they did provide a suggestion where) none of our friends wanted to do that. We had 2 couples drive together and 1 couple drove separate. One couple made a whole day out of it and they brought their bikes and got there 1 hour earlier then I had explained that check in was. I asked for an earlier check in and a later check out and was denied because they claimed they had renters before us and after us but when I checked that was not the case on the Airbnb website. This is what gets me the most, I asked for 1 extra roll of toilet paper just in case we had 6 adults so did not want to run short. Denied was told that they supply what they rationed was 3 rolls of toilet paper and anything extra is on us. You pay $1,800 for 2 nights and you can't ask for more toilet paper? At a hotel you can! The day of the check out we were 30 minutes late checking out and we were bombarded with phone calls, emails, text messages that we're late checking out and we must exit asap that their maid was outside waiting to clean the place because it's rented right after us (again a lie) don't worry we gave your cleaning lady got $20.00 for her time. The Black House on Beech is a small stunner called The Starling. Perhaps The Startling might be more apropos because it is a 2-story 3BR, 2BA house on a small footprint painted a pure matte black. Inside is modern and simple, decorated in black and white. They've considered every comfort -- there's a sauna, a hot tub, fire pit and hammock-- outside. Connect to the house Wi-Fi, watch a movie, play some tunes on the turntable, challenge your companions to a few board games--inside. Or walk a few minutes to Staymaker Restaurant at Journeyman Distillery, stock up on staples at Froehlich's Kitchen & Pantry, or enjoy a casual lunch/brunch at Oaks Eatery. This is a fine getaway for a small group or family. We only had a small mixup with the Wi-Fi but they were very responsive and this was cleared up right away. All the amenities at a small and quiet oasis. We didn't use the sauna but will be ready to try it on a return visit.

But more important than the house was the service and the "little extras" provided by Juniper Holiday + Home. From start to finish, they communicated everything we needed, making the trip easy and enjoyable. When we asked questions about the area and concierge services for our celebration, they were attentive and helpful. This year I called two times and they never responded. I cleaned the outside a/c units since the house would not cool. Some sort of alarm was beeping most nights until the battery must have died. And the screen door is about to fall off the hinges. RSVP never called me back or made any attempt to help. Update. Gee, the beeping sound came on again and our group of people in that room could not sleep. Oh, there was a price increase this year and we had very substandard service. I wish I could give them negative stars. This is our 17th year in this area and 10th time in this house. I advise to never rent through RSVP. They must be having issues but fail to update their voicemails or provide any response or any different method to make contact. But, the house is nice and close to the beach. Don't count on RSVP to make any effort to help other than taking your money.
