Came here after the lights at the zoo event. We arrived a little before closing and the manager and team working were not only understanding but enthusiastic about serving us. When I found out they were closing shortly I said that if we couldn't dine in we would have no problem going somewhere else and they insisted we stay. The manager was then also very helpful with menu selections and taking our large order (3 adults, 5 kids). I wish I had gotten his name so I could properly praise his professionalism with us. I ordered "The Big Way" which is basically their version of a Big Mac without the middle piece of bread. It came with two patties, American cheese, onions, pickles, lettuce, and thousand island dressing. The burgers here are hard pressed in the "smashburger" style. I found the burger to be quite good. I'm not sure that I found the burger to be worth the price though. These prices were similar to a Shake Shack type stop (which I do find to be a better burger) and the way you ordered was also interesting. The burger was $8 and change, but then to add fries and a drink to make it a combo was an additional $5. It isn't criminal to charge $13 for this amount of food, but comparing it with other combos that fall in that range, I am not sure it is competitive. The fries were pretty good, and they were very fresh. Directly from the fryer to our table, they were too hot to even eat at first, which is a good thing. Lightly seasoned and crisp, I enjoyed them. I would come back here or try another of their locations (I didn't realize how large of a chain this is) but as of right now it's definitely outside of my top 3 smashed burger style chain spots. I decided to take my dad to Wayback (Trexlertown, PA) for his first experience. We drove 25min and got there at 8:50pm. Then saw the sign that says they close at 9pm. We walked in and stood at the door and took a look around at all the patrons eating their meals. The counter person immediately yells out "We're closed!" My dad and I took in the scene. I looked at the person for a moment while thinking of how to thank them for such a warm greeting and extraordinary customer service then he angrily yelled out : "WHAT!" and started reaching under the counter. Decent enough hamburgers, but not as good as can be. Service is usually pretty fast. Order at the counter and they bring it out. Food is usually fresh and hot, but I think lacks a bit of that flavor that makes other fast casual burger spots so good. The french fries are not that great. I guess in the area the appropriate place to compare Jake's to would be 5 Guys so here we go: Staff: The staff was friendly enough in explaining the menu and while there is no yelling of "Got It" after you order they more than make up for that non sense by bringing your order out to your table which is something that 5 Guys does not do. Menu: Both menus are similar but Jake's offers more variety with Turkey & Garden Burgers along with Chicken items and Milk Shakes. Flavor: Even though I'm not really a fan of the fries at 5 Guys, their fries are still better than Jake's and I think that may have something to do either with the freshness of the fries or the oil that their cooked in because to me Jake's are not good. On the other hand the burger and the bun were surprisingly good. The bun is non-seeded and honestly a bit too large for the burger but it was soft and was an appropriate accompaniment for the burger. The burger itself was to me a 100% 5 Guys clone or 5 Guys is a 100% Jake's clone as I couldn't tell a difference in flavor or texture between the two. Price: Prices are similar although I believe that Jake's might be a tad more expensive but either way it's pretty much a push between the two on this point. Decor: The inside of the store is laid out simple with one TV on in the corner set to ESPN and there are several regular and high topped tables with the overall seating capacity being somewhere around 50. One thing that is a huge positive is that while they do play music in the store, at least while we were there, everything was of a more appropriate nature from the 50's and 60's as opposed to 5 Guys who plays stuff from the 70's and 80's that regularly include songs with profane lyrics (i.e. F*&^ and S$*^). Overall Jake's was a pleasant surprise as the food was of a good quality and while I didn't like the fries, everybody else in our group had the house-made chips and all vouched for their flavor so I would imagine that we'll be back in the near future. read more

I can get over waiting over 20 mins for a burger and a hotdog...but what I can't get over is the kid working the cash register had a huge hole in his shoe and was not wearing socks. Every time he went to fill up someone's drink or give them their order his big toe was hanging out. I have worked in the food industry for years and know this should never happen. Wayback Classic Burger Review I ordered a Wayback Classic (2 patties) with American cheese, made "Our Way", which comes with ketchup, mustard, onions, pickles, lettuce, and tomato. Read through those toppings again. It doesn't get any more American than that. This burger is never going to win any beauty contests, but where it lacks in appearance, it completely makes up by hitting that deep-down comfort spot. I have nothing negative to say about this burger. You visit a place like Wayback expecting a certain level of quality, and they consistently meet those expectations. On this particular visit, the burger was excellent. Both patties were cooked perfectly, and as thin as they are, even had just a slight hint of pink in the middle, while being just greasy enough while not soaking the bun with fat. The toppings are fresh and perfectly portioned, and there isn't too much lettuce, tomato or onion to mask the flavor of the burger. The American cheese has melted into a wonder layer of gooeyness between the 2 patties, which in itself is genius since that way the cheese doesn't stick to the toppings or the bun... it stays nestled in with the patties where it belongs. Speaking of the bun, there's nothing fancy here. Just a simple, soft bun of bready goodness. The fries are serviceable. They're hand-cut and look delicious, but are usually a bit on the soggy side. I have been wanting to try Wayback Burgers fur quite some time and tonight I got the chance. Stopped by to pick up some hamburgers before watching our grandsons baseball game. Ordered a cheeseburger with pickles, grilled onions, mushrooms and ketchup. When we got to the park I found no onions or mushrooms and a hamburger that was dry. Just went to lunch today at this place. Staff was fantastic.....food was delivered to our table just as ordered, and in a timely manner. Part of our order was to go, gentleman on register offered to hold that order back, prepared it right before we were finished, and left it under the hot lights for us so it would be hot when we delivered it. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!! i placed an order for pickup and made the mistake of forgetting a mask. I figured no problem because the sign on their window says "holler when you are here" so I called the store. I was sitting right in front of the store looking in as the girl at the register continued to pick up the phone and hang it up before saying anything. This went on for 15 minutes, not wanting to go into the store without a mask out of respect for everyone else, I was forced to drive 15 minutes home and come back. 17 calls straight up ignored. We asked for our food to be refunded and remade since it would be cold as it is now an 45 minutes after the pickup time but they refused and said they would remake it but not refund us for the trouble. completely ridiculous that the manager said they were too busy to pick up even though I sat there and watched the girl continuously hanging up the phone not doing anything or helping any customers. read more

I have been to this restaurant location 2 times and that was all it took for me to not go to five guys anymore. Jake's burger is juicy and their toppings are fresh. They use green leaf lettuce and good quality pickles and tomatoes. The homemade chips are fantastic. I tried the jake's burger for the first time and it was really good. A single party does make a perfect meal but the double party was calling to us today. I am not going to pretend it is the greatest burger I ever ate because it wouldn't be true. But it is the best counter service burger I have had in this area. The 3 of us ate for $20. My 3 year old really likes he burger here he likes mustard and pickle on his burger. I think the kids meal is priced right. The milkshakes are really good. We tried a chocolate one. The restaurant is clean, the staff is friendly and the food is consistent. I live within walking distance of the five guys and it is my pleasure to drive 10 minutes to get here. Also you can pre-order online which is pretty nice. I went here twice, unfortunately. First time, we didn't even end up eating anything we got. Despite being the only takeout customers in the building (or customers really; the only other occupants were a father and daughter pair and the employees. That was it at 5:30 on a Saturday night.), our takeout order was completely wrong. Like nothing we ordered was in there. Instead it was food we neither asked for nor wanted. The second time, our food was still incorrect but disgusting. We ordered two burgers and a milkshake and fries. The burgers were correct, but everything else was wrong. No fries, just an order of chips, and a chocolate milkshake instead of vanilla. Which would have been fine, I guess, except the chips were ridiculously oily, we payed for fries, and my mother has horrible reactions to caffeine so the milkshake was out. And I'm not a "5 Guys is the end-all" type of person. I just think it's a solid burger chain that does fast-food the right way (I've come to accept that there can be such a thing, and 5 Guys does it). Jake's Wayback definitely does it too. Went there a week ago on a Tuesday evening ordered online and had to wait 15 min after I got there to get my food and than went back last night ordered online again and to be ready at 625 I did not walk out of there until 650 when I got home my order was not correct. She said she had given the EMPTY drink cup to the GH driver. She doesn't know why we didn't get the drink but, the fries were their fault. She couldn't help me with a refund so she had to put me on with her "manager". After an exchange between he and Chloe he told me they would refund the fries but not the drink. Mind you this was all included as part of the kids meal. Regardless of who's fault the missing drink was, it wasn't the customer's (mine). They should've refunded the whole menu item, period.
